Ahhh, so the conspiracy continues.
It turns out that the April Fool's Joke wasn't actually a joke and so now the Chinese are running this place. It's all part of censorship and this post shall be deleted.

Well, your review getting a lot of helpful and useless votes. It looks as though you're getting some love for it.
What irritates me about the review system is that the author always gets the last word. It's fine in most occasions, yet when the author is stuck up and doesn't take a word of criticism, then you need to defend your own name. That can't be done with PM or anything; you know the author won't listen, you just need to convince everyone else who reads the review.
I'm not suggesting that as anything (that system itself would have its own flaws), but it would be great if there was some way to do that.
The problem with your review is that it may be marked 'Abusive!' by all the excited preteens, and will probably be removed (it isn't exactly in the scope of the rules). How else do you think all these flashes keep their glisteningly high review scores?
However, you can get negative reviews kept on there if you're careful - denting their score and probably getting a few fools a garbage whistle.
I'll probably try to get one of those reviews on there later
Another point of irritation is with the way the author is giving off the idea that he made the whole thing. We all know he didn't make the pictures, but it seems that he didn't do much with the code either. His posting history shows that he got pretty much all of the code from this forum. So it isn't his work, it's ours. Gah.
Well, unless someone is planning on somehow changing the entire ethos of that section of the Newgrounds community, there isn't much we can do. Just vote, leave a review, and hope others that agree with us do the same.

that little son of a bitch.
I'd have to say a good solid half of that was just whining, or irrelevant to what you were reviewing. Incase you haven't realised, submissions to this site aren't judge on technical performance - or even quality, it's based on entertainment value on the audiences part.
I'd guess that maybe less than a quarter of people who vote/review are actually part of the flash scene, meaning you're aiming at a blind audience as you would with any public art form. Realise this, and aim for an specific audience, say, if you were targeting the masses (presumably 12-15 year olds) just add 5 table spoons of dick jokes, and you're bound to get a 4+.
If you want to be trippy, aim for the lesser groups, eg; experimental, casual gamer, laugh in 20 seconds, musical, serious -etc. Comedy doesn't really count, because everyone's is varying.

I'm in a musical mode. I also am stuck on my game - but once I figure out how to make the game over screen work it'll be in the portal. :3
Website, flash series, film junk, and the band... - bloody glad I got a few months off from uni to work on all this.

Hate to be that guy, but I'm a Safari user at work. Given that it's the default browser on Macintosh I think Newgrounds should be able to support my browser. The background of NG shifts left and right with the movement of the mouse cursor and the page is 1/4 the size of the actual page, meaning once I scroll 25% there is 75% more page to scroll.
I have Firefox too, but sometimes I'm in Safari and things get wonky.
Hi there!

Did you download safari 4 beta? It's a lot more stable and a LOT faster (which is saying something cause safari is fast as it is), plus it gets 100 on the acid3 test (only opera and google chrome also get 100 on it)
You have to do some terminal commands make it look like safari 3 which is the first thing I did, makes it run even faster.
But even so, I don't see why it's so hard to support safari, now that it's one of the few browsers that's 100% compliant with the standards. I always have trouble uploading flash files (although audio and image files seem to work ok), in fact for my last couple games I was forced to boot up firefox so it would upload them and not just get stuck in perpetual loading.
Newgrounds is the only site this happens to.
Every now and then it works though.

No really? I also get alot of love in my PM box.

I assume the staff already know about issues with Safari, but it might be worth spamming liljim/bob with PMs about it :p
Safari uses Webkit as the rendering engine, which Google Chrome also uses.. so it can't be that different since it runs perfectly in Chrome.
Sup, bitches :)

You guys seem to have a nack for making enemies :P All I get is occasional fan-mail over one or two games (I should really make a sequel for one of them :) ).
To be honest, I probably come across as a complete bastard where mail's concerned. I inevitably check it at the last moment, when I've got no time to respond. I keep telling myself that I'll reply later and end up completely blanking huge number of people.

And I had thought liljim was the only unpissable staff member...

It only happens when viewing threads though, odd! Also, Mac users is there a Mac Equivalent of Task Manager? My new Notebook Pro should be arriving on Friday! ^_^

option-command-esc for applications (alternatively if an application is frozen, right-clicking its icon in the dock will give you the option to force-quit it)
If you want a more complete list of processes applications/utilities/activity monitor
also might add the only time I've ever frozen my computer to the point of needing to restart it was with an early build of the new closure. A glitch in my file saving/loading caused the level to duplicate the triangle data every load, to the point where the file was 27 MB large, of raw triangle data (=4.5million triangles), and then sending that to the graphics card bit by bit without giving it time to flush, made my computer sound like it was dying as the fans sped up to 6000rpms
The best glitch I ever saw on a comp was when a friend took a magnet and dragged it across a school PC, he was about to be expelled...

terminal is also pretty good too. I downloaded a simple little plugin for the right click menu that lets me righ click a folder and do "open terminal here", and the terminal automatically cd's to that folder when it opens so I don't have to look up paths and stuff.
There's a lot of little gems hidden in the utilities folder and shortcuts on the mac, especially if you download the developer suite.
One called "instruments" lets me attach things to applications and processes and look for memory leaks, it makes debugging my stuff a lot easier cause I don't need to bloat my code with memory leak checking APIs.
