You should use API drawing for the lazers :P Make an array of lazer points or something and push new points when you fire it, deleting points when both they and the preceding point are offscreen. Then you can just draw lines between them.

Pretty cool, I like the way the ball appears at the begging. One thing I would say is that the portfolio navigation should be at the top, not the bottom. When I loaded up the portfolio section I was greeted with a blank page (or so I thought). I had to scroll down to navigate the images.

The 3D model's good as is the interactive sketchbook (shame you can't go backwards though).

My site needs a massive overhaul (which I'll be doing next year), I can never seem to settle on a good design though.

Something i did not realize until after uploading everything to the site. Unfourtunate to say the least.

I think the most i can do at this point is making a back button as apposed to being able to flip it back. Flipping it back would be alot of work that i simply dont have the time to be doing right now.

Yah, design seems to be a big thing with all this. This is my first web page, and i can easily see its design shortcommings. I figured a site as simple as this would be easy to design, but i thought wrong obviously.

I'll start off with the main page (:
I like the concept, the sphere coming out of nothing looked pretty sweet. It is, however, quite stiff. You could fix this with some easing. Easing does wonders. Same goes for the other spheres. You could also make them come out in a spiral sort of way. That would be a fancy effect (:

When navigating, I find it annoying how when the mouse goes out of the screen, the spheres just stop automatically. Make is smoother, make the spheres stop slowly, or just keep going, but stopping them so suddenly is kind of .. meh.

The design for the main page is pretty good, however, too complicated (yes..). It seems like you're going for the very simplistic style (which is not bad thing by a long shot). For one, there's too much text. I'd say get rid of the "Colin Cove" text on the big sphere. Make the text on the little spheres text disappear as they go around the big sphere, and re-appear again once it comes to the front (and make it stand out more). The sudden standing out when the mouse comes over them seems odd to me. One more thing for the main menu: The little sphere reflections on the main sphere stand out way too much. I'd suggest upping that alpha.

Ok, onto some other things (:

I'll start off with the little 'home' button on every page. It's nice that it stands out nicely, however, the "HOME" stands out too much. While on the main page the text was nice and simple, the "HOME" seems to be completely out of place.

And last, the sketchbook. Essentially, it is a good idea, it's presented well and looks nice. It would be nicer however to have a 'next' and 'back' button. Moving the mouse back and forth becomes tedious (and it seems harder to grab the page every time). Maybe make it more like the 3D page? It would also be nice to be able to zoom in on images.

Uh, I'd say that's about it for me. Sorry if I sound like a 'know-it-all-asshole' or something.. I just found these things annoying, or out of place. Still a nice site (:

My quest for eating strange food continues, as I have dinner at an armenian restaurant yesterday. I had Piláf rice with Moroucos, all very tasty.

Also, it's that time of the day again, CHARACTER ART WHORING TIME!

making this was a pain in the ass, so imagine animating it, phew, it has to be the best drawing I've ever done with flash. The background isn't finished, it's just there to plan the shading direction, the real one is going to be made with Photoshopoh, but, beyond his generic look, is the drawing yay or nay?

Lets start from the top down shall we?

The head is good, generic sorta (as you said) but generally well drawn, the problem with your picture is the body. Starting from the neck down it loses quality. The shape of his shoulders are too flat and too.. like.. idk how to say it.. cramped inward?

Then the chest itself looks like its poofing out a many-bunch, this may or mayhaps not be what you were going for?

the neck appears to be too short IMO

at his hairline there's a little semi-circle in the middle of his forehead... dunno what that is, but if its supposed to be a crease in the skin you might wanna move it a bit lower

OH and if you're going for super realism, his head itself is too small, wait no not the "whole head" i mean but the top of his head should go a little bit higher (if you look at a human, their eyes are at like a midpoint on the entire head, in yours its closer to the top than normal) ---this is not a huge issue, i'm just throwing it out there

i say yay!

They say critisism from the ones that know is the best one!

Yes, as I drew it, I hurried up on the body right after adding detail in the head and left the rest to rot, since it thought I'd most likely make a short take on the character's face and then his arm dropping a bunch of flowers, so I thought I probably shouldn't care to much about the body. Since I'm planning on speed animating all night this weekend, the shots at this baby will be really quick, otherwise, I'll probably get bored really quickly, I myself don't understand why I focus so much on having detailed backgrounds, I just enjoy making them from zero at Photoshop.

Oh the irony, the movie's name is certainly "Siro"...

Here is a (unfinished, I need to add detail to the grass, graves, etc) background, I'm getting better at Photoshop, I remember backgrounds being my worst nightmare at begining of the year...

Running out of food sucks.

I'm going back to massachusetts for the summer, plane leaves saturday night. I bought food last weekend when I ran out, but I couldn't buy much cause I can't leave any here.

Anyway I'm basically completely out of food. I got a package of tortellini (for tomorrow's dinner), half a bag of shredded cheese, and a bag of sun chips with just crumbs left. I also have a bag of craisns (dried cranberries) from before, but man eating a lot of those just makes my intestines cry. Also got 4 waffles left too (tomorrow breakfast). And a bag of frozen vegetables (almost useless).

I'm worried I might have to break into my stash of ramen to hold me over. Not a huge fan of the ramen but I guess this is what its for?

I ran out of coffee last week and after that first day of headaches I think I've recovered but my productivity dropped to almost nothing. I dunno if that is an effect of me being off the caffeine or me passing the first goal of my project (which happened at coincidentally the same time) without having a clear short term second goal. Meh.

Trust me, a little effort on something small like that goes a long way, all i had to do was glance at the picture and thought "there's something wrong with that" before going deep and figuring it out, during the flash it'll be the same way, even if its there for a moment, and theres flower's around the torso or whatever, people will most likely still say "yikes those shoulders!" or maybe just "something odd there.."

If I had a dog, I'm sure he'd be howling right now.

Cool and trippy, but not much different than any other shooters (although I'm assuming you put a lot more effort in to the effects rather than the controls :P)

yes but i think you should turn down the power on that or give a warning. i was sitting right beside my grandpa's dog, i turn it on, and my grandpa's dog starts whimpering a bit, and it was loud enough to wake my grandpa.

but other then that, love the effects.

It's a Yamaha DTXtreme III Standard. A very big bit of tech that means I can practice playing my drums and actually contribute to the audio portal (because its all triggers and MIDI out, its easy enough to encode different samples to make some interesting pieces). As well as whats there I've also got an extra crash cymbal, and my double bass pedal.

The Drum brain alone weighs more than my laptop, and costs more on it's own too. The stand is fancy and accomedating but does make the entire thing look like scaffolding. And the pads are nice, but louder than the mesh practice kit I'm replacing.

Bought an ex-display one from my drum store. Even so, I'm probably going to need to finish this

Holy god, that's an awesome concept. What is it going to be? A puzzle type game? Also, why has no-one made this in flash? It's a very good puzzler, good when on the move.

Seen that a little while ago. Looking even sexier now. : P

I got a game comming out this week. Ofcourse ive been "almost done" for probably 8 months now. And we shopped it around to sponsors, but it seems nobody really wants to have thier name on a game in which the main character is a Penis...

And I've been demoing it in it's own little Speedtest thread for the past two weeks. :)

A whole two extra type of tile need creating before I consider it completed. Again, I feel I must thank Luca for spelling out the Matrix calculations for distoring two rectangles to do non-affine transformations.

What is it going to be? A puzzle type game?

Just a basic tile engine I can extend a few different games from. First on the list is Gauntlet followed by a platformer. GTA games are what it's designed for really with the zooming controls from the middle mouse wheel.

Also, why has no-one made this in flash? It's a very good puzzler, good when on the move.

Thatsa cool game.

Well, I actually made it as an animatic, I didn't know what motion to make in there so I made an animatic just to know how the character would move so that the movement would look natural, I am aiming for a Disney esque here, it's a personal goal to make my character animation somewhat like how Disney animators make the characters look almost human. That is something I have always admired, it'd really be impossible for me, with my level, to make something of that quality, but I want to mimic the flow from those movies, it'd almost look like their characters have their own weight and life. It always amazed me when younger.

I agree with you man, Disney has the most fantastic 2D animations. Look into buying "Richard Williams Animator Survival Guide" Its fantastic, written by the director of animation from "who framed roger rabbit"

it will be your bible (as it is mine)
