I like the 0-5 system, Pico's little comments that accompany the choice make it easy for anyone to judge what the movie deserves. I'm kinda worried about this whole monitoring thing because my voting tends to look a little suspicious, I usually go on a long time seeing only movies that I think deserve 2 or 1. Plus, there's the fact I visit some movies occaisonally just to vote zero on because they were 0.89 rated utter crap that used up like 3 MB on some MP3 and featured nothing but some asshole venting about how all cops should die because his friend got arrested, then cusses out whoever doesn't like his movie and makes another poorly done movie about him shooting his reviewers....
And for you moviemakers out there: just keep in mind that generally, ideas/content is 60%, Style is 40% and nobody gives a crap how long it took to make it. I could spend 3 years on a boring movie that's just a stickman quoting DBZ for 9 hours while juggling/walking/skateboarding/ect., but does it deserve a 5 cuz I worked reeeeeeally hard on it? HELL NO!

No. Wade sent this to tell us to vote fairly. He didn't tell us to stop blamming crap. He's talking about the people who vote 0 on EVERYTHING even if it's a quality entry. He's asking us to vote fairly.

It's possible to put a lot of effort into crap. We don't vote high for effort. That's what they do in Girl Guides. We vote high for good quality flash.

Well, since amny people do and many people don't, let me restate this. Tom/Wade want to get rid of ppl who vote 0 on EVERYTHING. fro example, going down the "recently added" list and voting 0 on EACH AND EVERY ONE. Regardless of quality, without even watching them. Although i admit i have done this for blam points, i now WATCH all the shitty ones before attempting to massacre it. ok? sorry for the long post, but i think it needs to be this way.

here's my suggestion.
Have liljim code NG portal so that you have to press the "view movie/game" button in order to axess the vote buttons.
an alternate would be have the vote buttons pop up after the movie has played
That's an easy thing to work around, just record if the user has viewed the movie, and what date. If the user has already viewed it they can vote on it. When the author updates it, and the user comes back the date that they voted is compared to the date that was recorded. You might want to go down to the time, as well, so that updates on the same day that it was already voted on can be still done.
