Hmmmm...
I dont think its cool AT ALL for you OR tom to dictate to me how i should vote. if i feel a flash "isnt my thing" its my RIGHT as a NGgold member to vote WHAT I THINK IT DESERVES.
I dont know whats happening to NG. I remeber the golden age, 2000-2001. those were the days. nowdays YOU GUYS TRY TO REGULATE THE PORTAL TOO MUCH!!
STOP IT, DAMN YOU GUYS!
DONT TELL ME HOW TO VOTE
I hope this is not in defense of the Clock Crew. I noticed the "N" entry was at 2.8 at one time. It obviously was a very good piece but considering how easy they make themselves despisable you can see why people would vote 0 for them. Is it abuse? Not any more than it is for them to give themselves 5's for absolute crap and keeping garbage alive in the portal.
Maybe when something is getting blammed the administrator should step in and decide what stays and what goes, unless the system automatically deletes an entry when its score is very low. I don't think anyone should regulate how someone votes unless they are proven to be absolutly malicious. Someone might have high standards for what is good and what is not thereby voting 0's or 1's. Considering how easily people hand out 10's in reviews I think some tough judgement is called for. Tampering or suggesting how someone should vote is Anti-American. I think the people in charge should use their own judgement and punish only the extreme cases.

If you think the movie should be blammed, vote "-"
If you think the movie should be saved, vote "+"
This would prevent people from voting 0's and 5's based solely on hitting the submission with a stronger vote.
I agree completely
wow.. i never really thought about that until i read that article.. I am guilty of it too somtimes. I have had a bad day, see some work, which obviuosly had work put into it, and i just give it a zero... cause i dont care for it.. ah i shall change, and i suggest the rest of you do so as well! FREEDOM!!!
i say since its about unfair voting, that we do a vote on what sort of voting format ng should. theres the + - idea, the vote menu pop up after the movies done etc . if we cant agree how NG should work i think that doing a vote is the best way to solve this problem.
People are using 0 and 1 far to frequently. 0 is there for one reason, a submission is stolen, offensive, malicious, or complete and utter crap that you know the submitter just threw together to submit something. It's not for "Oh, I didn't really like this, it's not my thing". That is a 2, and maybe a 1 if it's poorly done.
that is so true u Fulp r a genius!?!

It isn't always that easy. Sometimes the movie is somewhere in between, and can be saved with a few improvements by the author.
The biggest problem I have on the entire voting system is that you are rewarded for voting. That means any bozo who sits at the site 24/7 and just votes up a storm can accumulate a pretty hefty punch when he votes on a movie.
Instead why don't we slide back the power people can accumulate, or make it ratio out for the amount of views a movie has had (it may do this already, but it doesn't seem to) like the more views, the less powerful a vote becomes.
But even moreso, why aren't people who submit cartoons given more power than one who have never made a flash cartoon in thier life? Wouldn't it be fair that the people who make it into the daily top five, or the top fifty are awarded with the more powerful voting priveledges. I mean, if they're in the daily top five or top fifty, shouldn't they be the judges of quality, since they're the ones producing it?
Yo, it's simple really, people that vote 0 for everything are little people that feel that "zero" votes give them some power. These people most likly have never ever put anything together, much less posted it, so, if you really want to know how your movie is doing, look at the reviews; people that give movies 0's almost never write a review.
I must say that i have blammed quite a few things, and i have been harsh to a few authors, but i felt that the work presented lacked effort. On the other hand, I do mark well on a normal occassion. I have not received warnings or anything like that-since i have blammed quite a few things and at the same time voted well on efforted pieces, does that make me an abuser to the system? I am also pretty new to this web site's concepts, but i want to earn protection points for my liked movies--how do i get those?

Wade- Why don't you add a feature that tells how accurate a user's voting is, if they voted 1 and it got blammed that would make them 1 for 1 and then they voted 3 and it got blammed, that would make them 1 for 2 etc.
Thanks
