Hi, I'm back from ski camp.
Welcome aboard Benwa!
On another note it's nice to see that Slash has got some new ideas on battleing award winning. I'm not really a big reviewer but I'll try and do some for spam.

I'll be signing on the board soon tonite I am at a friend's house so she just let me hop on to check my PM's and email.
Welcome to the EGB! Always good to have another set of eyes looking for spam and abuse. Thanks for helping us fight the good fight! You'll find that this is a pretty good group that works well together - and has a little fun along the way while doing it. I'm sure you'll fit in just fine!

BenwaHakubi welcome to the EGB club hope you will like your time on here. Well not got any b/p for last few days did get one just now though ,one for a GG one which failed to pass. Your ideas of reviewing spam submissions is a good idea. I think its helps to think of well thought criticism, I find that it makes you think harder. On the spam side I noticed some more in the obituaries, I'm not sure but maybe you could review Underdog although it has already passed. I think Wade Fulp been on a big deletion of spam flashes, this does happen once in a while. Not all spam sucks if it voted through fairly then it not as bad. Only another 15 days till I level up level 29 almost near 30 now.

Damn you.... i should be level 29 right now and almost 30. But i forgot to deposit for almost a year, so consider yourself lucky because i want level 29 so bad.
On the other hand there have been alot more blams on my side of the table in the past month almost 1,000 blams for me and thats something to say for me since i only have about 5,000 blams 1/5 of my total has anyone else had the same luck?

Consider yourself lucky, I could be Level 35 right now.
Anyway, are we aloud to warn the Barracks about incoming spam or is that prohibited?

If it breaks the rules, yes. If it's passed judgment, yes. If you want to encourage the EGB to review something fairly and justly, feel free to link to it.
If it's a non-rulebreaking spam flash and it's under judgment, however, no, don't bother. If there's an enormous flood of something, you can mention that (and I will raise the long-abandoned DEFCON if any 'spam days' are due to occur), but not a single flash.

Thanks for the answers. What's the DEFCON? It sounds pretty bad ass.
In other news I reviewed a submission by Chris Beer yesterday and this morning I went to look at my profile and found 20 new, needless to say spammy, comments by him and Labusch on my Spammers' Blacklist. I deleted them all and banned him and Labusch from commenting. I hope they don't make too much of a habit out of this.

You can read all about the DEFCON system here. Enjoy ;P

Why not just edit your blog so that comments must be approved by you before they are displayed? That would help prevent any spam comment flooding on your userpage.

Uhh, I wasn't aware that that's possible. How can I do that? Please explain or redirect me to an explanation, thanks in advance.

1. Go to your userpage.
2. Click on the "edit" button next to your username on your blog.
3. The third category should be "Comment Settings".
4. Change it from real-time comments to approved comments only.
That should work.

Thanks, that should help in the future; of course I'm hoping this won't become a habit of theirs

I tend to have real time comments as I like comments that are real time I guess. But having approved comments
FC-Thun-Fan is a good idea. I did have that option because of silly spam, I got on my user page plus nasty comments about a review that got deleted. But I only found out recently how to disable comments. On the portal not checked much but I did write a good review, you can see the review in my profile 739. But I mean level 26 idiot-buster you have got The Switchblade a cool icon I liked the level. I'm getting a little tired of this Bowie Knife so only another 2 weeks, till I level up cool.

the only thing you are doing by voting 0 is helping him getting the Turd of the Week... and that's exactly what he wants
Hello did not see that submission sadly got a possible stolen game I have seen this before on other sites
I read his comments somewhat fishy maybe? alas the address does not match up, and no clue that it is his. I found this one here

Well I have written another good review today that is the first time in ages, I have done two reviews that quick. I have been lurking the portal and looking for abusive reviews. It is amazing the amount of Why Does This Get Front Page? Annoying when spam passes still not as much as there has been.
Hey, I'm going to be gone from Wednesday to Sunday, and I need some one to deposit. Just PM me and I'll send you the password.
I doubt I'll be able to get one in on Wednesday, and Sunday is the same. I might be able to get my PS3 there, so I could still post, but that's a slim possibility.
Okay TheThing not sure why you posed the message twice, I'm sure someone will deposit for you. Well I noticed a user who I think got his account deleted posting crap.
I mean why not leave a warning? this could give someone a fucking seizure if you were epileptic which I'm not. It looks like Snawsball was that is name? fake comments and a spam flash. Glad the flash I marked is under admin review. I have been getting more blams lately which is good, I think maybe the spam is always here, but its not as bad as before. Although I did noticed some by Chris Beer who got half a dozen alts hopefully tomorrow TOTW wont be a stolen award. Seem to be a celebration but why I cannot figure out going to do some reviews maybe for it.

People who have any form of epilepsy, especially the kind sensitive to light, should avoid Newgrounds like the plague. Those "authors" would love nothing more than knowing their playground mischief actually hurt someone.

The Turd of the Week being stolen is really the least of our concerns. It gives the spammers more attention and exposure, yeah, but at least it isn't stealing a prestigious award that could give an up-and-coming artist the critique they need. The best thing to do for TOTW is to hold back on voting zero on an already-passed flash until the week's awards are out.
Underdog isn't really a prestigious award either, but since it requires either a high score or a high review average, it should be more of a priority. Honestly, though, I don't understand what the point of Underdog is, and wouldn't bat an eye if it was discontinued.
Review Crew Pick is the major award that needs to be kept an eye on, since it's relatively easy for someone with enough buddies/alts to muster enough reviews to get it. Also, unlike Underdog, a flash doesn't need to be titled FUCK YOU NEWGROUNDS and get a low score, so they can start reviewing as soon as it's out of sight.
We should be keeping an eye on flash submitted by known spammers, bookmark anything that passes, and deal with it if ten reviews start piling up. Remember that a flash needs thirty reviews for underdog (and I believe for Review Crew Pick, too), so unless a flash is near that or over it, it's only a TOTW threat.
I looked at the Portal, and at first glance, it appeared that spammers had won Underdog and TOTW yet again.
Then I clicked on the flashes and found out that they've been deleted and the Portal simply hasn't updated to reflect that yet.
Tee hee.

This makes me happy :) It's nice to see spam die.
Yes I noticed two stolen ones good work though although, I lost a review which sucked still it was good to see it being deleted. I think a shake up of the way stuff gets through is maybe needed, to many alt mass voting, and giving fake high reviews for these garbage submissions. I really miss seeing a proper not mass voted got genuine one there. I think its a shame it could not go the runner up. Well been looking a the portal gained a few blams today the spam is better then before now. I'm not sure about this it passed and if you look at his comments, it sounds like it is stealing even if you can download the game.
Surely this is not allowed the game id from

The submitter admits he didn't make it, therefore, it's stealing. I've PM'ed Wade about it.

Make sure you PM someone else as I've PMed Wade about stolen movies/games and nothing has happened.
Its okay I sent a Pm to Tom Fulp only a few hours ago and its already been blammed, here if you click on the link. But your right about sending a Pm to Wade Fulp ,I cant send anymore as I have sent the maximum amount. I was pleased with the quick results, I don't get why he would admit it was not his in the comments. I would have flagged it right away. http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/48 4755. Someone did stole Underdog of the Week, but fortuanately it's been dealt with.
Notice how the reviewers have similiar names and signed up in the same month? Too obvious!

Is this crashing anyone else's browser? Because looking at who submitted it, it would be a major shock for that person to submit a malicious Flash. I suppose maybe it's just an error in coding, or even more likely a problem on my end...

I was playing it a few minutes ago, and it worked fine for me. Maybe because it's a fairly processor-intensive game it crashed your browser. Try it again and see what happens, if it still happens, try the pop-up option.

Well, I've met him and he's cool, so he's not going to be submitting malicious flash, don't worry about that.
Thanks for the find though, it's a really good one that I might otherwise have missed :)
