I've almost gotten 100 B/Ps today. wastedwizard and I should be heading up to Sergeant sometime later... Although he will get there a little before me, lol, as he only has about 6 or seven until his rank upgrades.

And then I'm heading over to the gym to swim, workout, and eat TacoBell. ^.^ (god, I LOVE those grilled stuffed burritos....).

Yea, I know that 7 days are short, but I just do not want to see the work gets delayed because of someone's absence. How about this deal, if an officer is gone for more than 7 days and his job will be replaced from the eighth day. However, if he comes back to the barracks, he can have his job again. In that case, the work will not be delayed for too long, is it a better deal?

I'm not sure but I do know that such decisions is not up to neither of us to make, only Eagle will decide on this, but personally there should be a V1 point ( the point of no return for aircraft speed ).

It sounds reasonable in my opinion. I would be willing to substitute any1 if they ever had to leave for any reason (vacation, business trip, etc.).

I read your post, Police Captain, and I don't think there's much to worry about. There is a policy in effect that determines your inactivity. I'd really have to drudge it up to find it. Major Major_punk made the inactivity system, which I'm sure he can find (or I'll find after a while). I can guarantee that it does reflect inactivity in members depending on their history.

As far as inactive officers, I really do not like such a harsh policy (7 days) on ousting a person. I really feel inactivity of an officer is a judgement call.

I still think the officer position is good to have. Besides, the Laison positions don't really command that much power to warrant them as being a problem. Now, if I had 10 positions on part with the Relations Officer position, that might be a problem. However, Laison positions are good to have and can really help if anything comes about in the future. Besides, it shows that we still care about our allies.

I think the number of officers has gotten out of hand awhile ago and this is a good opportunity to set it right, or at least better.

I don't so much think the officer count is out of hand. I just think we need more active officers on the roster. However, I'm not closed to the idea of removing some officer positions.

I have conversed with _Legend_ today over AIM. He has told me that he is no longer interested in holding the Barracks Intelligence Operations Officer position, so it is now vacated effective immediately. I am interested in retaining the position, though, as I feel the reconaissance power is good to have. This will all be worked out in the future, though.

I don't know if such strictness is necessary, but I'm open for ideas. One idea I was having was to have Lieutenant positions for the more important ranks so that absences can be filled in easier without taking away a position so quickly. That was really the "new positions" I was talking about earlier.

I'll clear this all up tonight, so don't worry.

I'd support 30 days over a mere week. My computer's power supply blew out a short while back, and I was gone for a week...say I hadn't had access to inform the Barracks of that, and I come back a week later to find my position gone? A week's just too short, IMO.
I agree with a possible point of no return. Like, after a month, we could consider an interrim officer, and after 45-60 days maybe, make it so the position is permanent. I know a lot of people do their jobs, but simply aren't on the Barracks consistently enough.

Eagle, surely Major_punk made the activity system when the barracks were just founded. But now it has developed to a nearly 200 pages thread with more and more members joining in. When the thread was made, I was just a citizen and I am getting close to EGP now. In other words, the original system could be outdated. Personally, I think that there is a need to update the system since EGB has much more work to do than it used to have with more members joining in. Still using _thefallenone_'s example: if his job gets replaced since the eighth day instead of just now, the recruit job would have been much better although the current work is not half way bad. Plus, the replacing system will discover many talented members who may not know before they take the jobs, so it is a way which talented COULD be used in the maxium. In addition, the new system will also motivate the officers who leave to show up again after their absence since they will have something to worry about. Eagle, uyou may want to reconsider? ;)

Honestly, I do not feel it is outdated. The activity system is rather intricate and is meant to gauge activity based how long you're been here and how much you've posted. I don't really remember it, but it goes something like this:

If you are a full member (30+ posts or so), inactivity happens in 30 days.
If you are a newer member (10-30 posts), inactivity happens in 15 days.
If you are a brand new member (<10 posts), inactvity happens in 5 days.

That is probably wrong, as I haven't found it yet. I will search it up later tonight. I really feel this system is strong in determining membership strength, as we had members that gave us 1-2 posts back then as well. Trust me; the system is not outdated.

In regards to officers, I plan on having Lieutenant positions for those postions that are more important. If the main officer is not in the Barracks at the time something is needed, the Lieutenant takes over. The less important positions are used sporadically and can be swapped out as necessary.

Once we start fresh, I will be stricter with our inactivity policy.

Ok, this might be a long one, and sorry, but I really can't be bothered to quote every relevant post (its almost 1AM here and time I was asleep really) so bear with me.

First up welcome to all of the new members, there seem to be more and more joining every day. It is particularly nice to see them so active!

Secondly, the idea of having Luitenants is an excellent idea for those positions that are most important. It isn't the fault of the officer in charge if they are absent for a week or two due to vacation or internet trouble (see Slash recently for example), and it would seem harsh to remove them from their position due to inactivity. However, although there are a lot of members here now, how many are qualified for officer or luitenant positions?? It may be an idea to make an officer in a less important role (maybe mafia liason- I don't know what that involves, but it doesn't seem much) a luitenant in a more important one to ensure that the most active and respected members remain in control. Should more recruits join then this can always be changed.

Finally, I ranked up to Elite Guard Praporshchik at long last about 4 hours ago, but was out training when it happened hence the delayed celebration! It feels so good to see a bit of gold in my profile :). Bring on the 1500 point gaps!

End of Day Report:

About 40 points, plus the rank up :)
No reviews, whistles or posts, as I have been out almost all day

So, off to the bunks at long last!!
