I'm behind 7 proxies bitch. Do something. Haha. I'm just messing with ya. :p You busted somebodies nose for that though? Story time.

I hate to tell you, but Byte isn't the person you want to idly toss around elusions to the fact that you can't be hacked. You could end up in a world of pain. THOUGH, if we're looking at military-spec network security, that might juuuust a bit harder to get through, lol.

Even still, I like to say that anyone running Windows claiming they can't be hacked is the equivalent of a guy standing in a battlefield wearing Swiss cheese as armor claiming they can't be shot. :-)

Did you serve your duty, or is this some sort of early release program?
Yeah, I'm getting out early. I was in an infantry job before and I messed up my hearing as a 50 cal gunner. I can still hear fine, but the doctors said I wasn't fit to deploy even though my whole unit was there saying I was ok. Whatever though. They tried giving me some desk job, but I had the option to get out since they stole my old job from me, and I decided to call it a career. :p

Sorry to hear that. At least you got to play with 50-caliber machine guns. :-)

I'm working on building a wireless router out of a rock and a vine, but progress is hard to come by. :/ And I know who Robinson Crusoe is despite the misspell Coop. Haha. We read that shit in like 4th grade. Good book.

I was forced to read that by my teachers. It wasn't at gunpoint, but it felt as such. Naturally, any book you're forced to read as a child has a negative connotation to it. I guess I need to re-read it some day to get a real feel of the book, rather than the stuffed-in-your-face-read-this-dammit feel I got from grade school.

Haha. I bet Coop was on the verge of suicide. Mine is still silver so either it got fixed this week or it never messed up for me. Good deal.

Surprisingly I wasn't affected. I have no clue how I pulled that off. I know Cobra was pissed off at me that he got hit and I didn't. :-)

Last time I had a snowday, I just played this all day.

Those are the worst games to get hooked on. The ABSOLUTE WORST. You just can't stop playing it. I'm sure at least 2-3 of you here got hooked on this game when it came out. Not only was my entire CS department hooked, but we had a leaderboard with everyone's hi-score on it right in the study lab. :-)

So, one more bit of news to take care of: I'd like to officially announce that sushi13 has been accepted into the Barracks! Might I also add, there was not one bad word said about the guy. :-) I really should have finished it earlier, but I was quite busy yesterday and thus apologize for the delay. The "Roster Guy" can add him to the roster immediately, and I will validate his user once he signs up on the forums.

Congratulations, Staff Sergeant! Salutes all around!

Well, just found another one for the Violations Reporting Desk. He's been here before. So ignore the current sign up date. I think it's best to keep a watch on this guy as he may leave more abusive reviews later on. I also know this is not the first time I've seen this username. He has been around.

In other news, congrats on making it in Sushi. Now then, you're lucky I don't like sushi, I had it once when I was 8, BLECH! The taste of raw fish stayed in my mouth for about a fuckin' week it was so horrible!!! I'm not sure about the rest of the EGB, so KEEP AWAY FROM THE CHOPSTICKS AND SOY SAUCE!!!!!!

In answer to your question, I stayed in all day. Except for when I used my brother's digital camera to take some pics of a hawk we had sitting in a pine tree. But with a 5.6 megapixel camera, the quality just flat out SUCKS! >_< My brother thinks that the NIKON SLRs and regular point & shoot digital cameras are the same, they are not!

The point and shoot digital cameras just plain suck!

Also, Coop, be prepared for a tag-team annoyance between Lizz and myself. We're gonna call you The Mod Guy from now on, just for kicks!!! :P

Hey Eagle, I saw your first few posts back in 2005, they're not really as bod as you made them out to be. Now mine, however, eh, you might notice a considerable change from then to now. Then again, I am at almost 2000 posts, so logically, practice does indeed make perfect.

In other news, my classes are canceled for tomorrow due to the snow. So I get another day to goof off. Though I will be reading out of my books.

I cant believe I missed SlashFirestorm pop by hi again nice to see you on here. Thanks Lizzardis I did opt for the name phantomlassuk82 but alas I need to try it again. Like the name you used PhantomLassukNG NG being of course Newgrounds!. Welcome to the barracks sushi31 and Firemaker60 again. Silly of me to miss your thread Sheizenhammer. Talking of games I'm kinda lazy when it comes to playing games on NG, but I do like the spot the difference ones you get fun the ones I mean are here.

I find these really good fun.

As my first official act of keeping the portal clean, this is just an episode of Happy Tree Friends that someone has uploaded.

Can somebody please tell me how to post links to flash so it comes up with the info instead of just the URL?

In case you haven't noticed yet, you just have to put the link to the flash in a standalone line of text. It works with audio too :)

By the way, go ahead and make a thread in the Member Introductions section in the EGB forums ;)

Thanks a lot. I think when I started using the name sushi13 I had never tried sushi either. One of my friends came up with it when I was making my first ever email account and he thought it was funny cos my surname is Salmon. But that was over a decade ago. Now I eat sushi quite regularly, really like it and would highly recommend it.

Yeah I found out by accident because I forgot to post the URL as a clickable link. Now I know but I'll admit that made me look stupid.
I tried to make an introductory post earlier when I was exploring the forums but it came up with an error message. I assume it's waiting for someone, EagleRock I imagine, to verify my account. I just tried again and I came up with the same error but I'll definitely do it when it lets me.

Wooo! It's roster time again! :D

Yay! My day is complete :)

It seems that this month has been quite a slow one. For me especially. I think that due to my own life picking up, that is the reason why I struggled to keep up with you guys this month. Still, DumbassDude made a flying start with appearing in the Top 5 Gainers in his 2nd month being here! AND beating EagleRock at the same time! Haha.

You're right - Portal traffic has been way down. Guess everyone is back in school and studying hard for midterms. Maybe it'll pick up this month. Or not.

I'd like to congratulate Sushi and MultiCanimeFan for getting approved as members in this club. I'm sure you will both do very well here and soon settle in, if you haven't done so already...

Yes, welcome (back)! I'm sure you'll have a great time here. We know we'll have a great time with you..hehehe...

(Just keep an eye out for that Byteslinger... She can be a bit... Snappy... At times :P) <3

I'm not snappy. I'm just in touch with my inner geek, and when I get offended, I just have the usual womanly desire to gently pound the living crap out of someone. Is that too much to ask?

Haha.

You're not laughing AT me, are you? hmmm....nah, you wouldn't do that now, Lizz, right?

It was an interesting month this month... Most of you, if not all of you gained LESS than you did last month, yet there were far more promotions and about the same Milestones. Hmmm. Strange. I was quite disappointed to see that i dropped off the end of the Top 5 Gainers by a whole 20 B/P. However, I enjoyed the fact that my place was taken by Aldlv and topped off by DDude giving us a great B/P gain! Haha.

Yeah, but EagleRock fell off his pace, too. He's been busy with of the construction at home, or loading Windows 7 on everyone's PC for free. It was an off month for most of us - but congrats to all who did make the top of the list!

So yeah... Also, I'm sorry for my drop in activity. I'm trying my best to keep my "Posts per day" as high as I can. However I fear it's going to drop below 10 soon, which I don't want at all :\

More than 10 posts per day - geez, you are a little helpful chatterbox, aren't you! ;)

Anywho, without further ado... Here I present to you... Your roster :D

Wow. I didn't even get 50 per day. But I am inching up on Uncle Eaggie!

Top 5 Gainers

Nice to see aldlv here among the list of usual suspects

Top gainers, repeat appearances: byteslinger (13), Coop83 (12), EagleRock (5), aldlv (3)

Did you notice that all three numbers are related?
There are 3 sides to a triangle (aldlv)
And the values (5,12,13) represent the sides and hypotenuse of a right triangle
Ohhhhh...mystical!

Total Gain for the month = 9,989
That's 322.2 points per day, or 9 per day per member.

Glad I could pull my weight.

January Update.

Any problems with the roster or your stats, just say so and I will correct it. If you choose not to reply back in the thread, you can always PM me and I will sort it out ASAP.

Thank you, Lizz, for another wonderful and timely update. We appreciate it! :)

Damn, didn't make the top 5 gainers again!!! Ah well I had a feeling I wouldn't because of the damn parental controls.

I would link to a new audio I would upload, if firefox didn't fucking crash every time I try to upload something. I recorded myself singing Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Ballad Of Curtis Lowe" and every time I try to upload that, *wham* Firefox crashes. I even did a remix of a song called AquoVisit, and when I tried to upload it, *BAM* Firefox crashes still.

GAH!!!!! FUCK!!!!

Thanks for the roster update Lizzardis I was thinking it must be the time for the updates. I see EagleRock in first place wow cool don't know where people get the time. Cool to see two new members on the list and my rank is mostly the same no change there LOL. As for the flash Sushi31 it can be confusing when the address does not match up, but it does not mean its stolen. I have learned that its can be very confusing though. I level up in 8 days time to level 34 love the weapon for that level.

Archer I'm a good shot!

Response to The Elite Guard Barracks 2010-02-02 23:25:46

As far as levels 33 & 34 are concerned, there really is no difference between them in that, they are both Shuriken. The only visible differences between them is that you have a total of 3 at level 34 and they are darker.

I personally prefer either the dual sais or the dual katanas. I'm a total sucker for anything with a blade. ^_^

Doing a little bit of math, in this month you only spent 309 out of the total 744 hours doing something other than sleeping, hygiene, and newgrounds. Hmmm...you made me site down and actually figure out how much time I spend on average per day messing with Newgrounds. First off, since I drag my laptop to all my clients (and they ALL have high-speed connections) I can run whatever I want - as long as it doesn't interfere with their systems. Keeping NG up in Firefox and letting Portal Guard do its thing has very little impact on the network, so no one complains. The portal has been slow lately, so I can let a few things stack up in purple before I have to watch them and vote.

My voting has been off - there is a bunch of crap I've been trying to blam, but they still make it through. I can't get a break on those blams to save my life. Although I am on line an average of 10-12 hours a day (between client and home-office), I don't always have full time for B/P'ing and review flagging. I'll flag a flash as I go, but it has to be REALLY bad, as many of the ones I think are garbage and should be blammed seem to make it through anyways.

If I were to guess as to how much time NG took as a primary focus in one month, I would estimate between 200 and 225 hours - or about 30% of the month. If you factor in that I get about 6.5 hours of sleep a night, that means that I spend about 40% of my waking time messing with Newgrounds - and most likely other things at the same time.

Maybe we can take up a collection and buy me a REAL life??? Just kidding...hehehe

I'm intrigued by this submission. The user who uploaded it claims to have hand drawn it but I call bullshit for a couple of reasons. It looks like an old Disney cartoon or something but I don't know what it is. Also I recognise Jon4life from the BBS where I remember him making up loads of stupid stories about things he allegedly did so in my opinion that doesn't help his case. Anybody got any thoughts or confirmation of it being stolen.

I also work a computer job, but I can't play audio during mine meaning I can't B/P while at work because I can't give a submission an honest vote without knowing the entire content of it. Instead I just lurk the BBS and play medal games.

Now I guess there is not much difference in level 33 to level 34 but the throwing ninja stars or shurikens do look so cool. Level 30s weapons have some kickass icons the chainsaw being my favorite. I would have been like around level 44 I think. Nice to here from you TheSongSalad you joined last year. My b/p been like around 8 per week nothing amazing there. Need to do more reviews.

Archer I'm a good shot!

I've always been a night-owl. I very rarely get to sleep before 1:00 AM. But I'm usually awake by 7:30 (or earlier). I can live happily on 6 hours of sleep a night - which, if you think about it, is still 25% of my life spent recharging my biological batteries for living in the other 75%!

I also work a computer job, but I can't play audio during mine meaning I can't B/P while at work because I can't give a submission an honest vote without knowing the entire content of it. Instead I just lurk the BBS and play medal games.

Listening to audio was a problem - until I invested in a Plantronics Wireless headset. Since some of my web development involves simple business flash with sounds, or just adding and mixing sounds for a site, I need to hear my work as well. But if I'm at a client's site, I may be in a room that has a lot of background noise or office chatter. Without the headset, there are times I can't even hear my own work without disrupting others by raising the speaker volume on the laptop. The headset does make all the difference - and it has a range of about 35 feet, so I can get up and stretch or get something to drink - and still hear whatever is playing.

That's why I just find a quiet corner or wall, and situate myself so my laptop screen isn't visible to everyone in the room - but I can see them coming. When they see me, I can look up (with my headset on) and smile or talk to them - but they won't know what I'm doing unless they get real close - and by that time, everything "personal" is minimized.

Technology - no place for the timid!

I wonder where I've heard that before.

Mind you, this guy wasn't timid... he just got caught. Timing is everything.

Yeah, it really looks like it's stolen. You can right click and zoom in, and you'll see that he grabbed the video from somewhere else because the quality loss (which means that those aren't vector drawings). I investigated a little bit and I can't find the original. One of the reviews mentions that it "looks like a scence from an old Disney movie or particularly 'Animal Farm' ". I googled animal farm (because I didn't know what it was) and I found this, which seems to be the original. However, the video is over 1 hour long and I can't find that damn part. I may have to watch it later :/

Haha, Oh I know byte is a computer genius. I can't even figure out linux. She'd have my credit card number and pin in 5 minutes. :p

Sorry to hear that. At least you got to play with 50-caliber machine guns. :-)

TOTALLY worth it.

This is the exact reason I despise the Harry Potter series. They don't seem terrible, but we had the first one shoved down our throats in 5th grade and it was one of the lower points in my education career. F Harry Potter.

Surprisingly I wasn't affected. I have no clue how I pulled that off. I know Cobra was pissed off at me that he got hit and I didn't. :-)

Oooh, he's a whistle whore too. I know he was hurting. Haha. I like your update to the sig by the way Slnt. Little winter action going on. :P

So, one more bit of news to take care of: I'd like to officially announce that sushi13 has been accepted into the Barracks! Congratulations, Staff Sergeant! Salutes all around!

I know I recognize the name and I think it's from seeing it in the Wi/Ht? forum. I don't even remember. I'm slipping in my newgrounds knowledge. Congrats though dude. Uphold the standard or rabid monkeys will eat your face.

It's a shame that you're getting out early, however I find it incredibly cool that you got to play around with a 50 Cal! I would like to play around with a few weapons in my lifetime. I say "Play around", yet I know that just one false pinch of the trigger could mean that someone is left with a big fuck off hold in their chest / head! Ooooops.

Meh. Responsibility is overrated anyways. Bunch of grown ass men acting like kids whenever we used to go to the range. Shit was fun as hell. Good seeing you again by the way man. Been a while. Good job on the roster too. Zeroes all around for yours truly. Gaaay.

I still can't create a topic in the Member Introductions forum. It keeps coming up with a message "Sorry, you do not have permission to start a topic in this forum." Is there something I need to do before it will let me post? I was under the impression that it's waiting for somebody to validate my account but I could be wrong.

Yeah, your account must be validated before you can post on the forums. I think that the only ones who can validate it are Eaglerock and SlashFirestorm, but neither of them have been too active lately. I guess you'll just have to be patient :/

No problem, I don't mind waiting to make my introductory post. I just wanted to make sure there wasn't something I needed to do.
