More stolen stuff
I'm checking into this. In the mean time, I'd suggest you avoid posting comments like this before we moderators have investigated and made a determination.
You may want to pay attention too, @Lizzardis, before you flag your "goldmine."
By the way @Exedor, I know you might not be happy with me posting this guys links at the moment but I'm mainly posting them because if you guys do deem them as stolen, people can still flag them once you've made that decision, yet ever so slightly before you delete them as to gain those sweet sweet whistle points!
What if we deem them not stolen? Sweet sweet whistle points turn into sour loss of rank.
Blam clubs have been banned. That's when one user posts about a submission and others pile on. Group flaggings are dealt with severely. Why? Because users are not flagging because they discovered a rulebreaking submission, but because someone else reported something that may or may not be the case. Whistle rank is not a gift, to get your friends up to some level. It's a badge that shows you have discerned correctly with your reporting. When you post and people flag based only on your post, they could lose what little rank they have, and what they may have earned with real effort.
It's not difficult to get and keep rank. There's plenty of E rated nudes that come thru the Art Portal. There are stolen songs kids post to use in Geometry Dash. There is a user who has a Deity whistle and only flags correctly about 2 out of 3 flags. That means about one third are wrong. Somehow, he keeps his whistle rank, so he doesn't know how often he misses the mark, but it's a lot.
What we really should be doing here is waiting til most things pass Judgement before removing them. They only need to be removed if they don't get blammed, right? That way, we'd get those sweet and rare Blam Points. This thread was intended for quick action against the real-porn clip submissions, or the screamers that take over your printer, or stolen content that would pass. Gameplay videos might pass, so we remove them before that happens. But we all lose a lot of Blam Points on things that are reported and removed quickly instead of being left a bit longer to be blammed.
I'm just wondering though, in all seriousness, how exactly do you mods investigate & come to a determination in cases like this? Would you contact the accounts author? Or do something else?
All of the above. I've contacted authors here on Newgrounds, but also via other sites. We do searches and contact via social media sites and various other things. Sometimes, it takes users a while to post a reply over there, so we can't do too much over here right away. If it takes a few days, well, we'll have 25 things to remove instead of 20 or 15. Not that big of a deal. But, what if those 15 or 20 or 25 were legit and were flagged? Now, can you see the potential hit to someone's rank? If we determine them to be crap and we remove them, then you can post the "he's at it again" posts. But until they're officially so, it's ok to back off on posting about every single one.
Hope that sheds some light on it all.
