M’s fine, as it’s not blatantly sexual.
I meant, it should be T, right? I think M is only if it's nudity or hardcore themes that are strongly present.
And then I think anything A rated is sexual action-related.
That mermaid’s nude, you just can’t see the nipples. I’d class upskirt shots as Teen as they’re not exactly appropriate to show to a kid.
I don’t know what you mean by “hardcore themes”. Are you talking about suggesting sex is imminent, or an illustration explicitly showing oral sex?
I figured covering the nips would mean it's still only partial nudity. And upskirt shots are definitely suggestively lewd or inappropriate enough to be rated T.
Hardcore themes would be something like excessive drug use, lots and lots of gore, really violent imagery, or triggering behavior such as suicide, abuse, and etc.
Sexual action-related would be a sexual theme like foreplay and etc. like a dildo is present, or there is suggestive material, while also including lewd ideas forcing the narrative to go beyond just being nude for the sake of art/anatomy. Because just having a dildo or just being nude doesn't necessarily mean it's A-rated. It could be for artistic value and just be mature.
So yeah, I guess I'm suggesting sex/sexual actions being imminent are what I think is A-rated. There's also the issue of excessively displaying a character being lewd/horny. If the drawing is a character displaying signs of being over-the-top with displaying their sexuality, then I think that's also A-rated?
I look through a lot of recent art when I'm trying to find newer artists, so it's kind of something I wonder about often?
