See where it says 'Rank: Civilian'? You can rank up by rating under judgement (purple) submissions in the Portal. If you rate it a 2 or higher and it passes judgement you get a protect point, while if you rate it below a 2, and it doesn't pass judgement, you'll get a blam point.

Then just give the rank of useless butthead and I will take it

September is here, and I hope everyone had a nice summer. I got to visit some of the US and maritime Canada, and was successful in eating many lobsters.

With the summer at a close, students will be heading back to school. If this is you, I wish you the best. Study hard, learn lots. We'll likely see a bit of a slowdown in the portal for a little while until it's time for folks to submit school assignments made in game or animation software.

Speaking of the Portal, it got a facelift a few days ago. Only the 50 most recent submissions show on the list, so on busy days, you may need to search Games and Movies by Under Judgement (or click the appropriate headers and find the link on the left side.)

I think I vote 0 far too often, which hurts my gains!

I don't vote 0 that often. I know I should do it if I wanna blam things, but I often give 0.5s, 1s, the odd 1.5. Obviously, that doesn't exclude save votes, I do a lot of those. I try to be as honest as possible, got my own sort of criteria.

I am very picky with my own sense of enjoyment, I also avoid 0.5/1/1.5 during UJ, but now you can change your vote, I can use it if it passes judgement.

Yes, but also if you vote 0 just to blam something even if it merits a higher score, that shows that you're not voting fairly.

I vote how I feel it deserves. If it's a split second, half-done animation obviously it gets the b00t, but if you can tell they put legitimate work into their content, then definitely give an honest vote. And if it's good enough, I give it a review.

I did my share of travelling as well; along the way my laptop decided it didn't want to start up anymore. When I got back to the home office, tore it apart, did some research, and discovered that my CMOS battery had died, which prevents the power circuit from detecting the configuration. Long story short, a $15 battery solved my problem and it's working once more.

Ah, I saw that as well. Actually, a few months ago, the post counts dropped to zero because the underlying HTML on the forum pages was changed, and the page parser logic in the EGB polling program couldn't find the post entries. I worked on it over the past few days, and now it recognizes the entries, but I think during my tests I have extra/duplicate records that need to be purged. I will clean that up shortly.

As always, I am very pleased with the hard work, dedication and support from all of the members here.

Oh, @Little-Rena , never apologize for voting how you feel. Many entries are subjective, and what one person might pass with a 2, another might blam. I get points, but not the most - many entries I blam pass anyway. That's the nature of public voting. That is why we are the Elite Guard- to do what is right, not necessarily what is popular.

Hello, all. EGC @Perigrinus was correct - there was a glitch in the post counts on the site. I discovered duplicate records created during my testing, and deleted them. The post counts are now correct on the EGB stat website.

Fortunately, most of the stat programs are rerun-able, and will self-correct if the data is cleaned up. Sorry about the mixup.

I vote 0 while Under Judgement because I feel it doesn't deserve to pass, even if it does merit a higher score, got to weigh up both options, and to me, it's more important to share my disapproval of something passing, than to give a score I feel it worthy of. Both are fair options, one is judgeing it's fate, the other is voting on subjective quality.

We all have our own methods.

The parameters for a submission to turn red must have been changed with the portal redesign. I've seen more red submissions in the last few days than probably the last 5 years combined.

Yeah, I suppose that's true. I do that too when not sure what score to give. "Does it deserve to be in the portal?" If not, 1.5 or less, if yes, at least a 2.
