For the common Joe it would still be an EGSC pic, but to B/P ranks 100 and lower, a little extra artwork, flare and love is given. Something kept in relative secrecy, about as much as the account secrets our accounts contain which we will not discuss.
It'd only be a matter of time before word gets out, and having any kind of competitiveness for the top 100 spots would only cause savewhoring to go through the roof. IMO, it's bad enough as it is without more rewards spurring it on.
I would respectfully disagree here. Regardless of a pretty icon, there will always be save-whores who want to be the best. They look at Bahamut's list (top 300) and know what they need to get to be in the top 100 or 50 or 20. I doubt that by recognizing higher amounts of b/p with a new set of higher-level icons you would increase save whoring. There are thousands and thousands of registered members of Newgrounds. How many have abandoned B/Ping well before 30K?
Compared to ALL of the user base in Newgrounds, only a small group of us (Phantom, Coop, myself, etc) have been around for many years and worked our way up to the top. If you notice, not too many others really are climbing - but a lot of activity within the top to fight for position. Would a change in the rank icon make it less (or more) competitive? No. But recognition to those who have reached the higher numbers, such as with an "Admiral" class of ranks, would be nice. We don't B/P just for points here, but as in real life, those who serve in the military and consistently do well eventually do get promotions. The ranks go up to 5-star admiral, and then Joint Chiefs and ultimately Commander-In-Chief (the President). There is nothing wrong for recognizing a job well done.
Voting power is a nice idea, but it's almost without weight compare to the average spammer that can easily use 15 accounts and cancel out all that mighty voting power.
If the increase in voting power is geometric, a few very-high level users could control the portal. Not sure how the voting power is calculated, but if it were up to me, all users with 30K or more total BP would be sorted (high to low) by their total NG experience level. The bottom user (at least 30K B/P, lowest experience) would get a total vote power of 8.0 - the highest user would get 12.0 . Everyone else would be somewhere in the middle, and based on their total experience %, get that amount.
Example: (just for explanation)
Lowest user: 40K total experience (8.0 V/P)
Highest user: 100K total experience (12.0 V/P)
If I had (for the sake of this example) 55K total experience, I would get a 9.0 VP
VP = 8 + 4 * (( my exp - min exp) / (max exp - min exp))
VP = 8 + 4 * ( ( 55 - 40) / (100 - 40) )
VP = 8 + 4 * ( 15/60)
VP = 8 + 4 * (1/4)
VP = 9
Each night, the max and min changes, as well as the individuals total stats. This method of generating a voting power based on total relative experience rewards users to not only B/P, but stay active in the forums, post and review.
Actually, I'm pretty sure they disallowed voting through proxies recently. As a result, voting with multiple accounts is very difficult if not impossible now.
Yes, I think the voting pages have certain detection algorithms to detect this type of connection

This guy sure does love his pinball machines. I wouldn't be surprised if he tried to post the Space Cadet pinball that comes with Windows.
Just watch. Both of them will pass because the only people who'd know a stolen flash if it gave them penis cancer are here in this thread.
AHEM. I understand that reference, but since (a) I have never had a penis of my own, and (b) I have fought cancer myself and won, you may wish to think of other analogies as you describe the mindless statwhoring of the majority of newgrounds - and wonder when Tom and Wade will create a set of "Regulator" mods that can put a flash directly into "admin review" status if it can be proven that it was stolen - instead of all the PM'ing and messaging we do now.
That is all.
