How about a link back to your Grounds Gold menu before and after you suggest a Flash for a collection?

(Sorry I posted by accident) Wow, you know I've been sitting around thinking of ideas for like an hour now and not alot is coming to mind. But ofcourse that's a good sign! Some ideas that went through my head were sub forums and maybe a photo portal or comic portal. My main idea is this though. We could have a system that could show other users your interests, your religion, sexual preference etc... it would be very useful on the BBS especially if you could have it right near your username. You could just look next to the user's name and see a couple of pictures and bam you automatically know that this person is interested in videogames movies and animals and that they are buddhist and like women. My little renderation of this system is shown at the bottom but I'm sure somebody can improve on it for me.There is alot of potential in this system, someone help out.

Well, it occured to me the other day that it would be pretty interesting to have another top 50 list added regarding experience. It'd be nice to see who has the longest running current deposits in a row. You could see who hasn't missed a deposit in the longest amount of time since the current day, when their last missed deposit was, and all sorts of cool stuff like that.

That would be something to consider for when the profiles and user statistics recieve their long awaited overhaul. Or you could just add it in right now real quick (I'm curious). ;-)

Well, this is the first time I've seen this...

I wonder if there's not a way to check the character count of the most recent review, or perhaps the length of the movies being reviewed... Something that wouldn't penalize those of us with fast fingers. All that NG Chat has turned me into a speed demon on the keyboard, and I've gotten this the last 3 reviews in a row. Kind of annoying, but I agree there needs to be SOMETHING to keep people from review spamming just to up their numbers.

Not sure if this has already been mentioned or not, but there should be the option to mark audio reviews as, helpful, not helpful and abusive, like you can with flash reviews. It would help bring attention to abusive reviews left on audio submissions so that they can be removed quicker.

Also perhaps a slight modification should be made to the NG FAQ and it should mention that the review guidelines for flash also apply to audio.

Fix the following:

Most registered users ever online: 385 (which was on Sunday 30th October, 2005, at 1:00 AM).

should be

Most registered users ever online: 345 (which was on Wednesday 24th August, 2005, at 7:08 PM).

Daylights Savings Time messed with the system and said there were more people online than really were. I feel this needs to be addressed.

You know when you make 4 topics, and have to wait 24 hours to make another topic?

Well, I did that yesterday, and I was wondering, instead of having the error message come up AFTER I try and make a topic. Kind of like how the ban message works.

Also, you could give a time limit of when you can make another topic again.

I gots an idea that can make signatures a little more fun.

My idea is that someone can use special character combinations to add special things to their signature, for example, someone could put in their sig:

"I have %e experience points"

And it would become when viewed in a topic.

"I have (current amount from users profile) experience points"

It would be like auto updating stats for your signature, for people who just HAVE to whore their stats.

There could be the following.

%e - Experience points
%b - Blam points
%p - Protect points
%f - Flash submissions
%a - Audio submissions
%r - reviews
%s - stickers
%w - whistle level
%bbs - BBS posts (Maybe sort of pointless...)
%exp - EXP ranking
%bp - B/P ranking
%vp - Voting Power
%ban - Ban status (Yes/no)
%aim - AIM link
%rs - Recent Flash submission

And there's probably a whole lot more I could think of.

Point being, simple little 2-4 digit codes could be used to add simple auto-updating stats in signatures, ideal for those who have sigs saying their current statuses in their sigs.

Did the Legal Archive link get misplaced? There is no link on the Literature page anymore.

This one thing really bugs me about the collection system.

Why can't we suggest submissions for collections while they're under judgment?
There are many fiiting submissions that I just don't have the time to revise or search for after they passed judgment and it's pretty annoying.

How about once you reach a certain number of reviews, the number of characters you're allowed to type as your review increases, as I get very annoyed when I spend hours writing a review only to find out it's too many characters long, which then results in me having to spend yet more hours shortening my review.

Of course this would only be for those that have wrote so many reviews as the reason a character limit exists in the first place is to prevent people from typing in major spam, those who have a high number of reviews won't do such a thing.

I'd say an acceptable number of reviews for the character increase would be in the region of 750-1000.

Also another idea would be to add a minimum character limit once you reach a certain number of reviews as well, as this would prevent users, that write reviews just to get high in the rankings, from writing ridiculously short reviews and it would mean that they actually have to put some thought into their reviewing.

I'd say an acceptable number of reviews for the minimum character limit would be in the region of 300-500.

I was thinking that instead of constantly uploading pictures to NG, the most common ones could just be linked to instead of wasting more NG memory. I don't know shit about HTML so I could be talking rubbish.

As a writer, I have thought for a very long time of a system that made you able to co-author another member to your post (Just as with flash submissions) as we writers sometimes cooperate (Just as I am with Myst_Williams at the moment).

There already is such a thing. It's your profile.

You could always just say that in your post, right?

That is what writers have to do as it is now.

But we would really appreciate the co-author post option I mentioned.

I read some of the review for movies under judgement (like the one that you can read) and a lot of them are just basically "BLAM THIS PIECE OF CRAP" or "THIS SUCKS" or "THANKS FOR THE FREE BLAM POINT"... I think when you go to write a review there should be a short over view of what is an acceptable review, like say constructive crisism or complements only... Something along those lines, cause i dont think the authors can get any advice from "THIS IS A PIECE OF SH*T YOU SUCK"...

Thanks nightmareLeecher for the sig.

Here's what I was thinking, in the C & C section, wouldnt it be great if you could mod your own topic. I know topics where mods dont come and the owners get pissed because of people breaking the rules of that topic. So how about every topic author in the C & C gets mod powers over his topic only. So when a spammer comes along he can ban him from viewing and posting in his thread, he can delete posts in his thread etc. If the author will abuse these functions people will leave and the topic will die. Ofcourse the mods will still have full access and be unbannable, so that if anything occures they can still control the situation. Another option would be that a person can only get banned when he posted atleast 1 post in your topic. I just know that some topics are the targets of spammers, and that this feature would enable the people who care about their topic filter out all of the crap.

Some ideas.

Add a filter to reviews that prevents swearing and the word blam.

Add author comments to the uploads.ungrounded.net flash windows (few people actually read them on the launch page.

Get rid of the "Your Ad Here!" thing in flash windows, it clearly ain't selling at all.

Broken link in the FAQ. The "Personal Profile Picture" link doesn't work. The link goes to "personal_profile_picture" when the name tag of the section is "public_profile_picture".

A small idea, what if for certain site acheivements you could earn secrets?

What I mean is, rather than just waiting for a long time and getting secrets by EXP, you could earn secrets for...

1: Getting your first flash past judgement
2: Getting your flash blammed
3: Getting a certain portal award (preferably DON'T award Turd of the week, more people would try to get it)

4: Earning a space on frontpage
5: Getting in a collection
6: Buying stickers
7: Reaching so many blam/protect points

And so forth, but then once again, there's always the problem of abuse... It would be best to award for only one-time things that DO take time to reach, without being abused.

Why do this? Encourages people to use NG because they can get more out of it.

Ok, I did some cleaning in this thread so if you're wondering where your post went it's because I saw absolutely no redeeming idea quality for it to remain in this thread. Anything that was remotely idea related was kept, and there hasn't been much activity here in the past 7 days anyway.

Now then, I'm posting because I have an idea for Newgrounds' Evolution pertaining to the experience gap.

IDEA IS HERE
My idea is to have a great division of experience points by any factor determined to be most appropriate. The easiest factor I can think of would be by a factor of 10, but the one that would be least upsetting to the older users of the site would be a division by 2.

As most everyone is fully aware of by now, it takes over 1000 experience points to gain a level beyond level 9. As such, this discourages not only newer users who have hopes of high levels and notoriety, but also older users who wish for similar things.

Daily depositing accounts for a significant portion of the traffic around here, and if that is boosted traffic is boosted despite how minutely. As it is currently, there are thousands of Newgrounds users that have enough experience to set them as level 9. Thousands upon thousands. The experience required to reach such a level is about three page views per user per 2 experience points depending on which system the person used to gain experience, and all other factors. If more people bother with depositing more consistently, each 2 experience points will add to the amount of traffic Newgrounds recieves, in turn boosting it's rating in terms of most visited site, etc., and likely resulting in revenue increase.

Most other aspects of this site are sliding scales that change when users increase in the number of points they have acquired for each statistic in a very connected way, besides B/P leveling so it only makes sense that experience should also be affected in this way.

My proposed idea should be fairly simple to implement, but I don't really know much about the whole coding aspect behind it all, so it could be pretty difficult.

There's no huge need immediately, but everyone has expressed a want when it comes to changing the problem with level gain through experience, and since there is a reluctance and inherent difficulty in trying to change something subjective such as the levels for the better, there is not nearly as much difficulty in changing the math behind the levels.

I dunno, I just think it's the only solution I can see everyone accepting that still retains the importance of those priminent users on the site that are already established with high experience levels while at the same time giving those less fortunate users a shot at reaching the top (not really, but it's all about the illusion, and there's no illusion when they start out needing to get 21,000 experience just to get to where the level 30 WAS).

Like how there's a list for past UOTD's, there aught to be a list for past Featured artists that appear on the Toons page.

In reply to post #2 on page 46 bla bla.

So you dont have to quoute, but just say Post #9 is cool. If you get what I mean. Just like a little 10x10 box, with a number in it, it's not that is it? :D

How about some kind of code that allows you to insert the picture wherever you want in the text, because sometimes I want to put the picture I'm posting between 2 paragraphs.

I third it

I have to agree, it would be cool and wouldn't be too hard to implement right? Well, maybe it would.. I don't know too much about the way NG runs.

Heres an idea, kinda simple and nobody will notice it, but would it be possible for you to print e-mail addresses onto the pages using javascript? I read somewhere that it stops the e-mail from being found by spammers or something like that, and you know that it is a problem.. I don't know if you'll understand what I mean but I hope you get the gist.. =P
