I have a few ideas...
what about using google's engine for the search...because sometimes the current engine brings up crapy results for well known stuff
allow pic linking from websites...like xfire...
and allow allow more ratings instead of just the four or five a day
Here's an idea:
When people join, send them a link to the help section, but put in a secret message (by making the odd letter capital), and make it so new people have to READ the help section and reveal this message before their account is verified.
Oh, and add more whistle levels. Luxury_Yacht's been silver for far too long.
havent read alot of above posts, but a few were quering about the search.
now you have to admit the NG search is terrible. can a mod/someone in the know clear up if anything is gunna happen about it? even if thye just got the google one, were it has the "search NG, search google" thing below.

In that case...how about changing the whistle points we get from flagging reviews to "review points"? The more you flag, the better your "review whistle" gets.
:P

Seriously, it's a retarded post that people use to get their post count up. Not only that, but for the other reasons that I listed. It should be a new rule.
And since we have an angry face and a happy face, I think we need a sad face too. :)
From the rules:
Before replying, please ask yourself the following question:
"Does my reply offer any significant advice or help contribute to the conversation in any fashion?"
If you can answer "yes" to this, then please reply. If you cannot, then refrain from replying. Your post or reply may be deleted and you might get banned.
Many, many of those 'use the search bar' posts fall under the 'not contributing to the topic' clause, and they are banned quite a bit. I do it if I see them do it constantly. Same with people that constantly post 'use Google' without trying on their own to search.

You know, it's not even just me. There are people with many more points than me (like ReconRebel, for example) who still have silver. I'm not just recommending this for my benefit, although I'm flattered that you think I deserve a higher level.
I also think that review mods should be given more power. If BBS mods can lock and delete threads, and even delete individual posts and ban users, review mods should be given more power. Not only would it increase efficiency in the whistle department, Wade would have less work to do; I would think he'd appreciate a bit more spare time.

It's because you've been flagging reviews from the Abusive Reviews thread since page 41, and look at it now! 132 pages and rising!
Surely the number of whistle points you have now could lift another user from garbage to silver at least three times!
You and everyone else with a similar number of whistle points need some way to prove your efforts, because let's face it, having a silver whistle is not exactly something to boast anymore.

More than that, probably.

It hasn't been for a long time. I do think that discourages people from whistling. and it should change.
I saw a post that said something about the profile templates are being updated... Any idea when? Or how come there hasnt been any "NG News" about it?
Ok, I have a suggestion - why don't we make it so we can flag author comments as abusive? I've seen some comments say the word "Faggot" in capital letters over and over again until he couldn't fit it anymore - I have a feeling that if a normal review were like that, it would be marked abusive in no time...

Please make sure to post the correct info in the future.
When ANYONE is flagging reviews, they are doing it bassed on the REVIEW, NOT
the authors response. Please do not go flagging a review because the author is being abusive, that is not how the current system is set up.
There is nothing in place for the author reponse, but it has been suggested before.

Sorry :'(
Perhaps the word abusive, should be changed to blow the whistle or something, as if someone was to type something like these examples below, they break the rules and should be deleted but they aren't exactly abusive, and when I see them as it says abusive, I'm never sure whether I should flag them as such or not, i do anyway as they break the review rules, but not many people know the review rules and wouldn't flag such reviews as abusive when they should.
Anyway here's the examples of the types of reviews I've seen that fall into this category.
1.Sucked.
2.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
3. How did this get daily Feature? this wasn't good, you must have been getting your friends to vote high for his, this didn't deserve Daily feature at all.
(Note)All of the above reviews are just examples
All reviews of this type break the review rules, and should be deleted, but they aren't abusive, so changing the word from abusive to whistle would make it more clear that these should be flagged.

The word, "Abusive", at base level means, "Improper use or improper actions." When someone writes something that's against the rules, then that's abusive. You're confusing "Abusive" with "Insulting."

Yeah I know and I do flag reviews of that kind as abusive, but I'm just thinking of in terms of everyone, not everyone will understand that and they'll just leave it, when they should be flagging it.

Oh, my bad - I looked through all the pages and didn't find anything - sorry! But, no i do it based on the review, not the author's response. That would be bad if a perfectly good review was flagged, just cause the author said the "N" word over and over.
Speaking of reviews...why aren't the yes, no, and abusive buttons on the front page of a flash? This is what I'm talking about:
It would be much easier to just click the buttons instead of opening all the recent reviews link.
You guys know the 4 quota thing? Well instead of having it AFTER you attempt to post while you have the 4 quota error, make it come up once you press "Reply"
Sound good? It's just like what they did with the bans.
You know how almost all of the top 50 rankings on the users page has the user's website? Why doesn't the blam/protection top 50 users get to advertise their site? The blam/protection takes a lot of time to get to.

Yeah, but then imagine if you were a mediocre - stuck inbetween the greats of NG and the newbs of NG... (like me) - I'm not sure it would help at all if they were taunting you to do better with their ads...
And what happens when one gets knocked off the list? The ad suddenly disappears? That might be a bit tricky...
I was thinking: is voting on movies after they pass the judgment really neccesary? I mean the score isn't going to change much. Any thoughts?

This allows new submissions to make their way into the top 50 and it allows more traffic for NG because people are attracted to vote on their favorite submissions. Is it neccesary no, but its a good idea anyway.
This is all good and true, but what I find good about it, is the fact that after a long day and short time, I can simply go to my favorite movie, press 5, deposit my EXP, and I'm through - finished.

That's why you earn the place to have the ability to advertise your site. How hard is it for someone to deposit everyday? They get their site link and you don't feel taunted? It's not likely that you will ever make it into the top 50 experiences. It doesn't make sense that your only excuse is that you feel taunted by the link knowing that it will take forever for you to get there. I too started with no points and there was a top 50 list but I still go into it one day.
And what happens when one gets knocked off the list? The ad suddenly disappears? That might be a bit tricky...
It's not really an ad. I mean the link to your site. It's automatic it just finds the site you chose and updates it on its own. So there is no trouble.
Oh - nvm... lol - I thought you meant one of those annoying "CLICK TO GO TO MY SITE!!!" ads that flash in your face just as you try to watch a submission.

Yeah but it doesn't change the score dramaticly because people tend to vote equally both while the submission is under judgement and after it has passed the judgement.

You see I'm not very thrilled about this idea of making people vote on submissions that have already achieved a stable score. Because their vote isn't going to mean jack shit. Since the quality of a submission has already been desided.
Newgrounds should be more about viewing and showcasing than stats and voting. It'll make thing alot simpler and pherhaps attract even more users and potential artists. Instead of stat whores who think their voting and opinions matter.
To me it seems like a waste of resourses.
