Tomorrow we find out what we're supposed to call the starters in English.
Chances of 'Smugleaf' being the actual name: 1%.

I'm kind of used to calling most of these Pokemon by their Japanese names. Jarooda is a very cool name in English for that grass serpeant. Emboar would sound well as an English name too.
When I get the game, I'm probably going to just nickname most of my Pokemon with their Japanese names.
On another note, Garchomp is still the best Dragon in the game not named Rayquaza, Palkia, Dialga, both Giratinas, Zekrom, or Reshiram. I could argue that it's better than Zekrom and Reshiram for their weakness to Earthquake, and them not even having access to it, while Garchomp has that magic base speed 102, and STAB on EQ. Zekrom and Reshiram haven't even been tested in a Standard metagame, so who knows how truly broken they are?
Defensive Garchomp is mad fun to use.
The last time I gave a shit, I got fucked.
Nintendo just now announced the names! Snivy, the Grass snake; Tepig, the Fire pig; and Oshawott, the Water otter! :3
And apparently the region of Isshu has an English name too. The region in Black and White will be known as 'Unova' in all countries speaking English.
Snivy is a cool name, but I don't really approve of Tepig or Oshawota.
Yeah, I'll be nicknaming mine Smugleaf, Pignite and Wotter.
Verycoolguy summed it up nicely; Snivy is rather fitting, but the other 2.........wtf? ESPECIALLY the otter's. o_O
Also, this is the first time where a region name for an official game underwent a complete change for the English version, whereas previous gens just had slightly altered Romanization.
Small correction: It's Oshawott, not Oshawota.......not that it makes it much less odd.
Fuck, Serebii can't even figure out what the fuck the pun is beyond 'otter' + '.........something'.

Team previews is going to ruin the element of surprise this generation. It is also going to make stall thrive. It also means players will take forever making decisions on what move to use.

On the plus side, I can see it encouraging players to use Pokemon in ways other than they're normally played.
Seeing something and instantly assuming it's going to be a wall, but then having it suicide on you instead. Stuff like that.
I don't really like the idea of using surprise sets since those sets are usually overall less effective, and even less effective since the opponent can catch on very quickly.
Well this does give me the advantage for me to check if my opponent has Espeon, a Ghost, or a weather starter. I run a Sunny team and I have to say, Venusaur and Charizard's new abilities make them beasts! The Shadow Tag candle is even more broken there. Venusaur gets Chlorophyll, and during sunny weather, the move Growth increases both Attack and Special Attack by 2, so Venusaur is a ferocious mixed sweeper. I run Power Whip, Earthquake, and Hidden Power Fire. Charizard gets Solar Power, which increases his Special Attack by x1.5, so a Choice Specs Overheat kills pretty much everything except Tyranitar, Politoed, and Flash Fire Pokemon. Blissey takes 73.53% - 86.55% from it.
A good way to fool the system is to put your actual lead in the middle of the lineup, and before the battle starts, rearrange your lead to the first spot, so your opponent might not expect it to be a lead set, with Focus Sash or other typical lead items.
If GameFreak is gonna force Team Previews before every match, then there might as well be a Pokemon Stadium 3, since those games would have previews, and they made it look cool :P.

Red is more competent than Ash.
Ash must have been Red's inept alternate counterpart. It's funny how Blue and Green have their name swapped depending on the translation.
"As the old saying goes...what was it again?"
Speaking of Pokemon manga, I've been reading Gold & Silver Adventures. But I don't like the fact that they abruptly stopped at Gold's story and suddenly began on Crystal. I loved Gold. <3 <3
And game-wise, I've been playing Emerald lately, still have my old team too. Beat the Elite Four and everything, now I'm working on the Regis. Anybody have tips to take them down? My team consists of: Sceptile, Magnectric, Azumarill, Rayquaza, Sandslash, and Torkoal.

So what is your opinion on the Unova pokémon names?
Hihidaruma is Darmanitan.
Shimama is Blitzle.
Chillarmy is Minccino.
Mamepato is Pidove.
Gear is Klink.
Meguroco is Sandile.
And Professor Araragi is Professor Juniper.
I don't really care for Pidove because it makes me think of a flying Bidoof, and I just don't like Klink.
The English names aren't that bad..........except for one: The Pigeon Heart ability was changed to..............................BIG PECKS.
I spent roughly 15 minutes laughing at this.
