I have 2 choices, please tell me which is better.

I'm assuming this is for competitive battling, in which case I'd go for Charizard.

Magmortar Nature: Modest Item: Leftovers EV's: SpA 252 Spe 252 SpD 4
Solarbeam
Flamethrower
Substitute
Sunny Day

I'm not too sure about this moveset. If you're going for Sunny Day, wouldn't it be better for Magmortar to hold a Heat Rock to boost the number of turns he can be powered up? Magmortar's also rather average in terms of speed, so he might get hit before being able to set up a Substitute and either not be able to make one, or just outright get KO'd. Alternatively, you could use a Choice Scarf to boost Magmortar's Speed so that he doesn't get outsped by other things, but that would make Sunny Day pretty much useless.

You could replace Substitute with another attack to try and deal with Fire and Dragon types, both of which resist your current two attacks. For Dragon-types, the only thing you can really do is just hope for Hidden Power or something, and you can only get neutral damage against Fire-types. If you're going for that, you could try something like Thunderbolt, which would hit both Fire-types (and most Dragons) for neutral damage, and things like Gyarados.

Charizard Nature: Adamant Item: Leftovers EV's: Atk 252 HP 144 Spe 112
Flare Blitz
ThunderPunch
Dragon Claw
Swords Dance

I'd be sort of worried about recoil from Flare Blitz on this set, but that's really the only thing I can find that's bad about this set. You've got Leftovers to heal from recoil, Swords Dance to boost Attack even higher, and at least neutral coverage on almost everything. Somewhat surprised you're going for a physical based set for Charizard, but whatever works.

Actually, physical Charizards are generally more popular than Special ones, since Charizard's special movepool is fairly limited. Generally though, the set would make use of the synergy between Blaze, and a Pinch Berry, and pretty much always would include Belly Drum and perhaps substitute to get Charizard to that critical 1/3 HP level.

Well yeah, (I think) that was what I meant. It's rare to see a physical based Charizard that doesn't run the Substitute/Belly Drum/Salac (or other) Berry combo. Not saying the idea of having a physical one is uncommon, but rather having one that's not one of those "standard" sets. At least it's original though.

Regardless, I've still seen more special based ones than physical ones. Not sure about mixed variants though, but I'm guessing they're used even less. I guess it just varies by person and whether they mind spending a few turns setting up for more damage, or just wanting some quick power.

Man, it's been a bloody-long time since I last dropped in here.

Anyway, I just posted a new stop-motion movie: with Pokemon in it!

If you check it out, i hope you get a good laugh out of it at the very least. :)

Bah, Celebi still gets raped by bug moves, and it's got a shit-tonne of weaknesses, so it's not that big of an issue.

True - which is why the little fella will always be OU & not Uber. I still expect a spike in usage, though.

Suppose that's true. Plus the Psychic typing helps offset the risk of Heracross, though not by much if its packing a Choice Scarf. And of course it's completely boned against Yanmega.

I'm thinking of breeding a totodile with an Adamant Nature.
But I have a question:
If you leave a male Feraligatr with a Ditto, what will their offspring be?

It's random... It could be male or female.

As in species? It will be a Totodile. If your Ditto has an Adamant nature, you can give it an everstone and it has a 50/50 shot at the baby's nature being Adamant as well.

Thanks for the replies, but how come I can't seem to get a Totodile with the Nature I want?
I have a whole box full the guys but I still don't have one with an adamant or jolly nature.
I have 2 with a gentle nature, 3 calm, 1 quirky, 1 hasty, 3 serious, 1 brave, 3 naughty, 2 careful, 3 sassy,
2 timid, 3 lax, 2 modest, 2 bold, and one impish but I still don't have one with adamant or jolly nature!
How come I still can't find one?

Ugh, trying to get your most desired nature for one Pokemon is a bitch. For some reason, I cannot get Modest nature for ANY of my Pokemon through breeding at all. It's like they deliberately made it really hard to get because it can be very useful for Pokemon that don't use any physical moves. It's shit like this that makes me want to get an Action Replay and modify my Pokemon to have the natures I want for them.

Response to Tanooki_John's Pro-pokemon club 2010-04-25 21:35:11

LOL! I finally got the totodile I wanted but it only showed up after I gave up trying to breed one!
I forgot to leave the last egg I had in the PC so it hatched when I was traveling through Kanto,
then all of the sudden the " Oh? " text came outta nowhere. Next thing I know I
have a Jolly Natured Totodile!

This is why it's useful to have some Dittos with different natures, purely for breeding purposes. I've got a box with some of the more useful ones, such as Modest, Adamant, Jolly and Timid. That way I've got a much higher chance of getting the nature I want.

Been a few days since I posted, I've been addicted to the Pokeathlon recently. I'm stumped as to how the heck you're supposed to get under 80 seconds for that Hurdle Dash event though. My record's only 87.1 seconds, which isn't even close. Anyone have any tips for it?

And what's everyone's records for the events (if you've done Pokeathlon), just for fun?

I don't know why I didn't think this sooner. Then again, it would be nice to have a better chance of getting a shiny Pokemon using the Masuda method, even if the chances are still slim.

Metagross is very similar to Susan Boyle. It's not exactly graceful but when it comes to getting the job done you can't question its ability.

I feel like getting a Slaking, I already have a few move sets for it in case I get one.
Please tell me which is better or if you know a better one then please post it.

Despite his great stats, his ability cripples him. I'd consider something else.

You're not going to get anything as insanely high as Slaking, but you could look into the likes of Tyranitar, Hippowdon, Mamoswine, Snorlax etc.

I'll go ahead and try Tyranitar, but I have a question.
If you breed a Larvitar with a Feraligatr to get a dragon dance move,
and breed their baby with a ditto with an adamant nature and the everstone,
does their baby have an adamant nature as well as the dragon dance?

Provided the Larvitar with Dragon Dance is male, yes it will.

Well, I bred a Male Feraligatr with a Female Larvitar so thier baby should have dragon dance.
But when the baby hatched it didn't have dragon dance, what should I do?

The Feraligatr did have Dragon Dance, right?

You have to breed a Totodile that knows Dragon Dance first, then use that Totodile to breed the Larvitar. Use a Horsea to get Dragon Dance onto a Totodile, learns it at level 38, and then once you have a Totodile that knows Dragon Dance, breed THAT with the female adamant Larivtar to get Dragon Dance onto the offspring.

I'm gonna give up the whole "dragon dance Tyranitar" thing,
because I just breeded something better.
And that thing is a shiny Adamant natured Larvitar!
I feel extremely lucky to get it since this is the first shiny I have ever had!
So, anyone have any suggestion on what attacks and items I give it?

Awesome, congrats. It's always awesome to find a shiny, considering how rare it is. I found a shiny Wurmple very early in my current Emerald game (as in, it was the first Pokemon I caught), and now it's a sexy-awesome Beautifly. I cheated to give it Fly just so I'd have an excuse to keep it around my team, since Beautifly don't exactly have the best stats, lol.
