Gah, I totally know what you mean. It's what I constantly lament about it the Battle Tower - they rarely won because of superior strategy, but more likely heaps of critical hits or being Paralysed for 50 turns in a row or something. Also, I've yet to see an AI attack miss, I swear.

The language barrier seems to be the common problem here, but price would also be an issue for me. When I was looking around online for imported copies of Platinum, prices went as high as 90 dollars for a copy. After considering supply and demand, and the massive anticipation for Heartgold/Soulsilver, we may see the cost for imports going well into the triple digits.

It wasn't that high where I lookedwhen I imported Platinum. They also had the US version in stock at the time and there was only a 9-dollar difference.

Seriously, guys; should I go with an old DS to save money & have the slot for my Ruby & LeafGreen, or should I get the DSi & say screw it when I can probably get all of those Pokemon off of HGSS anyway?

It's Super Effective...OMFG WTF CRITICAL HIT!!?. From there on Charizard w/White Herb uses Overheat and kills the others. Then I lose my streak. If starting over didn't mean fighting a bunch of Bidoofs and Pidgeys all over again, I wouldn't be so mad.

That's rather sad. :(

Hmm. Well, personally I'd go for another Lite. I don't think they've got much in the DSi store at the moment, and that's really the only reason I'd get one. The GBA slot on the older DSes are just so much more useful.

Briefly I was trying to get my hands on a Japanese copy before Platinum was released in the US. I went on such sites as Amazon and Ebay, and saw that all the prices were ridiculously high. Maybe it just costs less to get a copy imported FROM the US.

In my personal opinion, I would buy Platinum. There are enough changes and improvements over diamond/pearl to make it worthwhile. Actually, just the Distortion world and Battle Frontier alone would make it worthwhile.

Besides, would you REALLY want to reset Diamond and lose all your cherished partners?

Nope, no requirements. Just post. Also, if you have wifi, post your friend code here with your timezone and game(s), since we occasionally will meet up to have a battle or trade.

September 12th to be exact.

And now that I've finally finished assembling a team, does anyone feel up to a battle over Wi-Fi? My FC's 1075-9095-5476. Just let me know you've added me and give me your FC if you're interested.

I don't really see the need to use eBay unless the item I'm looking for can't be found anywhere else.
If you were trying to avoid a fiasco like what shut down Lik-Sang in 2006, I understand. However, I have only imported titles on Nintendo hardware and have never run into any problems (legal or otherwise). Sony is a separate animal.

Hey guys, I got a problem.
See, I finally got 48 BP at the Battle Frontier but I accidentaly bought the Focus BAND
instead of the Focus SASH. So I was thinking if any of you guys have a Focus Sash,
I'd gladly give up my Focus Band for it.

You can get a Focus Sash for free. Just go and show the old man on the route to Pal Park a pokemon at the level he wants to see. I think on the third time he gives you a focus sash.

Anyway, is it possible to hatch a shiny from an egg?

I believe the item he gives out is random. Along with a focus sash, he will give out an expert belt and a black belt when you show him a Pokemon of the random level of the day.

At 8/22/09 11:07 PM, Idiot-Finder wrote: Anyway, is it possible to hatch a shiny from an egg?

Yes it is. If you're just breeding any two Pokemon, the chance of hatching a shiny is still roughly 1/8192, but if you breed Pokemon from two different foreign languages, the odds increase to about 1/2048. Breeding for shininess is actually supposed to be more effective than chaining with the Poke radar.

I'm pretty sure it's ordered. Or at least it was like that on Pearl. Black Belt -> Expert Belt -> Focus Sash; repeat ad nauseum.

It's called the Masuda method. Apparently game freak director Junichi Masuda created this to (I guess) encourage use of the GTS.

More people would probably use the GTS if: A. People stopped asking for ridiculous trades, like requesting a Dialga for a Bidoof, and B. If the GTS didn't glitch in Platinum so that level requirements aren't shown.

Seriously, there are barely any sensible trade requests over the GTS, and for the ones that are sensible, you're still screwed if you have Platinum because you can't tell what Pokemon level they're asking for.

I mean being able to trade worldwide over Wi-Fi was a great idea and all, but...

It increases the chance of hatching a shiny from an egg from around 1 in 8000 to around 1 in 2000. That's still a lot, but at least the chances are greater.
