At first glance, I thought that it was fake because of a few details (e.g. the name, the design, etc.)

I am incredibly disappointed. The Nintendo Switch 2 does not have the ability to dispense coffee. Absolute deal-breaker and I will not be buying it, plus I will be filing a lawsuit against Nintendo within the hour.

Jokes aside, I'm looking forward to it! At long last a new Mario Kart game and I'm loving the Wonder art style. It reminds me of the classic pixel games and it looks so much more cartoony and expressive. Another thing I noticed in the new Mario Kart footage is that there's 24 slots rather than the usual 12 at the start, and the courses look a lot bigger which could be a testament to the newer hardware.

My first thought was that it seemed unoriginal compared to the Switch 1, but then I remembered how the Gameboy Color looked nearly identical to the first Gameboy, and immediately forgave it.

I have a bit of confidence with the magnetic joycons though*, as the peg-and-hole method should ensure they will only disconnect if pulled directly from the console (assuming they're form fit enough). The wear-and-tear on the Switch 1's sliding mechanic definitely was hard to ignore after a while.

From a market perspective though, I feel that it should pick up sales after a while. Maybe not as immediately as the Switch 1 when it first came out, but I feel like in the long run it'd be pretty hard to mess this up as much as the Wii U.

*Now watch as it comes out that they demagnetize after only 4 months of use lol

the design isnt that different from the first one, but people who care about that shit are mostly people who saw the PS4 transition into PS5 / whatever the previous XBOX console was to the xbox series x and were hoping that the switch 2 will come out as some detroit robot looking thing (if you only care about the appearance, then i am sorry for you, the one reading this of course)

I swear King Dedede's design (specifically his head shape) stayed mostly same throughout the eras of the Wii to the 3DS & Wii U.

I'll reserve judgement on the Switch 2 until the technical specifics and what games are going to come out at launch. The Switch was successful partly because it was well supported from the jump and wasn't a bunch of bottom barrel first party titles and lower quality ports of 7th gen titles.

Hopefully they don't let the success go to their head like what happen to the Wii to the Wii U. Whether or not they'll do that, time will tell.

What's there even to be disappointed by? We got no specs, no library, just some Mario Kart footage that as far as we know could be MK9, or could also be MK8 Super Deluxe featuring Donkey Kong Jr. not to be mistaken for good ol' DK who is still in the game.

Let's all wait til April before we get upset by the Switch 2 damnit!
