Welp, Nintendo gave in! They just released the new trailer for the.... Nintendo Switch 2!

Personally, this feels like the most unnintendo thing to do, though saying that they did do the same with the DS systems.

I'm glad the controllers are larger, I felt they were a bit uncomfortable in my huge paws. But i was a bit dissappointed that it all looks grey now. I kinda liked the different cases for each of the Joy-Cons, it's a shame the only difference is the analog stick.

What do you guys think?

Also kind of dislike that only "select" games are backwards compatible, but at least first party games would most likely be supported since that's the only reason to play on Nintendo systems.

I'm kind of on the fence about how it seems an inch or two bigger...

I always wanted the Switch to be smaller, but at least people with larger hands have a more comfy handheld.

I'm just hoping the interface isn't as soulless, bleak and clunky as the Switch 1 was, let me organize my games on a grid! Give us folders again too!

The animation was sleek af though.

All in all, it was very ehh, they could have shown more than like 5 seconds of a new Mario Kart, and only the Console's design, but I blame the leakers for this since EVERYONE has to have clout or some shit, as they where going fucking bananas the past month like chill tf out.

I know I'm nitpicking, but I really only care for a new console for the games, and improvements, which neither was really shown (besides a new Mario Kart, which looks AMAZING).

Still more charming the stale look of every Mario series in the 2010s imo.

I must say, the reveal wasn't as exciting as I'd hoped, considering we've basically already seen it everywhere at this point.

I think magnetised Joy-Cons could be good for the system, as the old slide mechanism was known to wear out a lot on the original. I do wonder how much one would be able to shake the console before the Joy-Cons come flying off, though I suspect Nintendo would have already thought of that.

Knowing the big N, I'd be very surprised if they didn't release Joy-Con variations with outer case colours; the design in the trailer seems a bit bland in my opinion. Kinda reminds me of the Steam Deck a bit.

We still don't know what that button below the home button is for. One of my friends suggested that the "C" in C button could stand for "Community" and there would be a sort of Miiverse revival, although I doubt Nintendo would want to go through the trouble of moderating something like that again, especially since they're supposed to be the most kid-friendly out of the three console manufacturers (although it would be cool as hell).

The logo is a bit of a disappointment, although I don't really know what I was expecting. They just slapped a massive "2" next to the Switch logo and called it a day.

We saw a glimpse of a new Mario Kart game in the trailer, which is awesome to see since it's nearly been 11 fuckin years since the last proper entry in the series. Personally as a fan of the squids, I'm interested in seeing what a Switch 2 Splatoon game will be like, although I suspect it'll be at least a fair while before we get any news about that. I do hope the system software is given a revamp; like someone else in the thread said the current one looks pretty bland. I don't have any desires for particular features; just make it look cooler dammit! And give us back the eShop music too! And release it as an update for the Switch 1! (ok that last one may be a bit far-fetched...)

All in all, this trailer, while nice to see, doesn't really get me excited for a whole lot. I'll have to wait for the proper direct in April to see more details about the hardware, but I suspect it's gonna be the software that really makes or breaks this console for me. Although I am a collector, so I'll probably buy one anyway when I have the money.

I personally like it, but I can see why people prefer DK's older look, his Movie design while charming definitely looks really goofy in comparison to how he looked before.

I'm excited starting of with a brand new Mario Kart is exactly what a new Nintendo system needs! I'm more interested in Mario Kart I really liked the models and it looks like will have more than just 12 racers this time around, Donkey Kong is gonna take some time to getting used to but I don't think it looks that bad. I thought the Mario movie design for him was fine It was a mix of new and old

I'm looking forward to buying it. I'm gonna save up a lot of money for it

I think the new Mario Kart game is based off of Mario wonder and the movie because Mario looks slightly the same to how he did in wonder. But they definitely fucked up my boy donkey Kong lol

1 - I hope this version has more processing power in tandem with the Steam Deck. I'm unsure if it will have ray tracing or it will go past 60 fps but at the minimum it should run Mortal Kombat 11 without sacrificing graphic quality.

2 - The logo looked extremely fake when it got leaked, hard to believe it will be the one that the Big N will go with.

3 - Game Freak has zero excuses if the next modern Pokemon comes out to be extremely limited.

4 - A friend of mine teased that the new Mario Kart game is probably an open world one similar to Forza Horizon and Need For Speed games. We'll see...

I am concerned on the "Some titles might not be support" part, I hope it is just stuff like Nintendo Labo or Ring Fit Adventures that their accesories require the specific size of the original Nintendo Switch screen and Joy Cons.

All I want is a D-Pad, but that aside it's another Switch console. I can't imagine myself grabbing one for awhile until either a new Animal Crossing, Super Smash Bros., or Etrian Odyssey drops. So I think I probably won't be picking one of these up until probably 2027 at the earliest. I'm in no rush, and by then, there will probably be some cute colors to go with.

Far as my serious thoughts are concerned I feel I want more information before making the decision to buy Switch 2. Putting aside graphics, processing power and all that crap. The physical hardware looks better but after the let down of Wii U I kind of feel like this is a repeat of that whole deal but without any significant changes.

And thats just it.

I don't think the looks are enough to warrant me going out of my way for one and of their launch titles aren't impressive and if Smash turns out to be a let down after Ultimate I may just skip this one altogether.

They should have saved this for later when they have more launch titles to show off, but I suppose the leakers got to them. Joycon mouse functionality may bring back the best Mario game though:

I think it's because we've never seen him look like that in 3D the style Shigehisa Nakaue used for 2D looks way better but I need to see more I'm just a fan of a more cartoon-y Mario style it suits the characters nicely.
