Looking through the list, the only genre I could really see myself doing is #15, but I'd hate to take that away from another.

If you're thinking funeral march in a traditional instrumental arrangement, I can come up with something that involves whatever MIDI is included.

If cocoloco delivers, I'm cool with that too.

Was a deadline mentioned?

@Whirlguy

Thanks for the wake-up ping! You know what: put me on 16.

No official deadline but I was hoping we could finish the music collab in a month's time, give or take. I've put you down for part 15 as it was still available. I think you'd do a great job!

Nice, welcome in! This segment was inspired by the birth of Ruffle. We're bringing Flash back to life with this one!

I'll do some glitch core, #7. Will download the sample when I wake up, play around with some stuff! Thanks for tagging me, I barely notice anything these days. I'm a lurk monster.

Oooh I've always wanted to participate in an audio collab!! Can I do #4? I love making silly electronic music.

Great to see this project. The 20th anniversary collab 10 years ago was really good. I'd like to join again. Can I have "26. Circus Music"?

Could I possibly have 17 <3?

Sure! Two things to keep in mind is to use the "Dance Mr. Funnybones" bassline, and to ramp up the BPM from 110 to 140 to ensure a good transition :)

NG's 20th Anniversary combined Art, Animation, Games, Music, Voice Acting and Literature collabs in order to celebrate 20 years of Newgrounds. Now, after 10 long years it's finally time to do another! Let's create some music!

=== WHAT TO EXPECT ===
Again, the song we're making is a chronological representation of Newgrounds history and this time it mainly focuses on the past 10 years. The death of Flash takes a big part in this of course, as well as the birth of Ruffle, the shift towards different software options for games and animation, and the eventual rise of popular content that found their origin right here on NG! After doing some research, we came up with an arrangement of genres that can be found below. Take a look and decide which one you want!

=== IT'S DIFFERENT THAN LAST TIME! ===
The last collab played it safe by working with a linear approach and sticking to the same chord progressions at a steady BPM of 140 but this time we've chosen to control the composition a little by throwing in a few experimental twists. For example, the song will have sections that abide to a different tempo and some parts may even require the use of samples or leitmotifs taken from Newgrounds content. If all goes well, the song should be about 7:30 in length.

=== PLEASE READ THE RULES! ===

=== SO FOR EXAMPLE... ===

My next post will include said resources and a list of genres to choose from...

This is what I have so far for Part 3. I have some concerns though! I'm not sure if I leaned much into the "silly" aspect of what you'd describe as Silly Pop, so I just went with my gut feeling of something that feels Sublo-spirited

Recently my headphones broke, and I'm only able to use cheaper earbuds for now, so I hope I got mixing right and it doesn't sound real bad :P

I'll adjust the intro and the end as my neighbors make their parts, as I'm not sure yet how to keep the flow going. Feedback is very welcome!

That's ok! "Silly pop" is not a real genre after all (as far as I know haha). The original song is quite silly by itself anyway. Also the mix isn't too bad, I love what you did with it so far!

Saw it was already taken, so in the folk one, could I make a Neo-folk thing?

(Neofolk is a combination of industrial/experimental music and folk, a lot of it could fit into horror media)

Hey guys, it's been about a week so far and we're making good progress! If you're on the list, please let me know how your part is doing! Previews are very welcome (I miss instaud.io). In the meanwhile here's some updates for you.

As long as you capture a cult-like "we're singing and dancing in the woods at night" type of vibe, I don't see why not! I'll put you down for 23. There's no deadline at the moment but I'm hoping to get this done in about a month or so. It's been about a week so far :)

I'll be able to start work this coming week beginning Monday

My plan is the same as with previous collaborative works: 1) to structure the whole thing and then 2) give direction, and 3) record all voices, then 4) let whoever contribute as and when they can

Here's what I got so far. Decided to go with some silly drum and bass.

https://www.newgrounds.com/dump/item/6084df86c3c3d738c11bfe8aeec9e75e

I had the tempo start speeding up after the 1 bar intro and stop at bar 6, if that's okay? Not sure if I should have it gradually speed up throughout the entire song or not, but I think it sounds alright. I listened to the parts before and after mine together to make sure they could transition okay and I think they do, but I can totally change anything if anyone thinks it can transition smoother. I also took samples from that scene with the guards talking and the fail sound at the end for fun x-). Any feedback is appreciated!

Hmm, I will say that past experience has taught me not to overdo it on technicalities. One of the difficulties that comes with big collabs like this is that you'll work with a range of different contributors, some of which are professionals and some of which are just starting out. As far as compiling goes, I would absolutely love it if every part of the collab was mixed to perfection but realistically, there will be people who have no clue what mastering entails or how to export their stems properly. This got a little messy 10 years ago and I was forced to just deal with it. In the end I sacrificed quality of the mix in order to ensure that we finished our song at all. That being said, I intend to work as hard as I can and I also super appreciate your efforts to make this collab the best it can be! I think it's really generous of you to offer mixing people's songs! But yeah, at the same time, I wouldn't want you to have unrealistic expectations ;)

The key of your song works, so that's good! Not a bad contribution! I wouldn't call this lofi though, not in its current state at least. Maybe if you slow down the melodies and think of ways to create a more relaxed and cozy atmosphere? Be sure to keep your song within the span of 9 bars as well :)
