I added some sfx I made, as well as some from undertale and various classic sonic games. Also added a 1 bar intro and a bar of silence at the end (idk maybe that will be helpful for transitioning and making sure audio doesn't get caught off or smth). 10 bars total, still 140bpm, still C maj.

Hello, lads 'n gentlepeople! You just saw a BBS post from me, music maker, illustrator, and artcore passionate Alex Turell aka cocoloco3412! That's me! ;D
Ooh part 11!
How much creative freedom do I have, and does that include time signatures?

i was having trouble exporting it to the dumping grounds, so i posted up on a private soundcloud link, should i change something?

Hmm part 15, are you sure? I'm going through your music and I'm not really seeing any classical or cinematic stuff. I think your style might really fit part 7 though!

I didn't include any additional resources for part 11, so you're pretty much good to go. This time period saw both the Dragonball Z and Smash Bros collab, so it would be cool if those vibes could be channeled into a song somehow! But I'm going through your music and I'm noticing your songs are usually quite calm and don't use any drums. Are you sure about picking part 11? Forgive me for being forward but I think the type of music you make might really suit part 8 or maybe 28?
At 1/6/25 12:14 PM, RealTin3Sn wrote:How much creative freedom do I have, and does that include time signatures?
As far as time signatures go, everyone gets 1 bar of a 4/4 intro max, but you could choose to use only 3/4 of that time (as an example). As for the rest of the song, it should still be 32 counts in total (8 bars of 4/4). You could however fool the audience by playing 5/4 for 6 bars, then end it on 2/4. So yeah, I will allow time shenanigans as long as it doesn't sound like a fucking mess haha (In fact, I'm pretty sure Sorohanro and Azhthar played with different time signatures during the last collab).

Ooooh yes I remember!! It's been 10 years already!? Sadly, 20 is already picked. But then count me in for 19, the AMOGUS one. This gonna be good

I've never done a song like that.
Did someone mention a familiar melody...
Because if nobody's taking that end section yet, I'm interested (in making a lyrical version)
The BPM might not be 80 but I could get multiple people involved AND you'd have the bonus of this being this year's Sketch Collab music, potentially

Good point. Was looking for an opportunity to expand my horizons, and thought perhaps 11 would be a good way to go. Alas, 28 might be tailor-made for me, especially given that fantasy, exploration, and time signatures go together well.
(I do not have file dump by the way)

Alright, began work on my eurobeat section. Here's a "0.5" version for 20's and 22's convenience. I'll likely keep the main composition the same but I'll build upon it more (and touch up the mix) after I hear what my neighbours are conjuring up.
Count me in! Either Vaporwave or Dark Wave (#16 and 25 respectively) is fine by me :)

Ohhh, I'm not sure what you mean by that but I'm sure you have something exciting planned for this! The reason I put 80 BPM in there is because of how smooth a transition would be from 160 but I don't mind if you're taking it somewhere else! While planning for the collab's song structure, I pictured a "Bohemian Rhapsody"-type ending where the song reaches a climax before slowing down into an emotional reprise.

Nice, I'll put you down for 28 in that case! Also, I'm pretty sure Dumping Grounds is available for everyone, not just supporters. Try this link. Does it work?

To be honest, I have big plans for part 15 because it's such an important part of NG history. For that reason, I have high standards for that part. I'm expecting something solemn and impactful. You're free to give part 15 a try but don't be surprised if I reject it. I'll leave it open for now.

Sure! Probably an extra couple of bars, though I'm thinking it might be best to wait for part #24 for a better frame of reference, as I don't know what the transition will sound like. :)
Or we could cheat and just add a burst of static like we're zapping through channels, haha.

NG's 20th Anniversary combined Art, Animation, Games, Music, Voice Acting and Literature collabs in order to celebrate 20 years of Newgrounds. Now, after 10 long years it's finally time to do another! Let's create some music!
=== WHAT TO EXPECT ===
Again, the song we're making is a chronological representation of Newgrounds history and this time it mainly focuses on the past 10 years. The death of Flash takes a big part in this of course, as well as the birth of Ruffle, the shift towards different software options for games and animation, and the eventual rise of popular content that found their origin right here on NG! After doing some research, we came up with an arrangement of genres that can be found below. Take a look and decide which one you want!
=== IT'S DIFFERENT THAN LAST TIME! ===
The last collab played it safe by working with a linear approach and sticking to the same chord progressions at a steady BPM of 140 but this time we've chosen to control the composition a little by throwing in a few experimental twists. For example, the song will have sections that abide to a different tempo and some parts may even require the use of samples or leitmotifs taken from Newgrounds content. If all goes well, the song should be about 7:30 in length.
=== PLEASE READ THE RULES! ===
=== SO FOR EXAMPLE... ===
My next post will include said resources and a list of genres to choose from...
Ooo!! I’d love to hop on this!

To assist in the making of this collab, I have provided a .zip file with resources. These include MIDI files, soundfonts and a couple of soundclips. The provided resources are suggestive. If your part comes with resources, you don't have to include everything that's in there. They were put there with a reason however: to assist the composition and to help tell our story. I'd like you to at least use some of it. How you choose to do this is up to you! Feel free to replace MIDI melodies with live recorded instruments or make up entirely new chord progressions. I'm super excited to see what you will do with them!
