Ok, my part is finally done. I rendered 3 versions because I've had a lot of discussions with sound engineers about where mixing ends and where mastering begins.
The first version is completely unprocessed:

The second version has a bit of effects to glue the mix together, like saturation and a master tape effect.

The third version also has (glue) compression. Some people call this mix-bus compression if they consider it part of the mixing process. Other people call the exact same compression master-bus compression, if they consider it part of the mastering process. Personally I don't give a damn. Here are 3 versions. Choose your pick. I just don't want to have this discussion again.

The first and last bar are empty. The first notes start slightly before the second bar. The middle 8 bars are the song. The last bar is reverb tail. I think it follows the previous part up well enough and the next part should also fit.

Oh hell yeah I fucking love this! Thanks for the quick update! There's actually two small requests I'd like to make here. First, your part cuts off a little too fast at the end. It would improve your transition into part #7 greatly if you held onto that last note a little longer. Second, I think it will benefit the mix if you send me a version of the song that's not already been mastered. Hope you don't mind!

Hahahaha I can see how people consider bus compression to be a mastering technique but I'd consider saturation and tape effects to be a stylistic part of the composition myself.. Ah- anyway! I don't mean to continue the discussion! Thanks for the update, this is fantastic work! <3

Following some feedback, people have said that the guitar through the song didn't add much. I tried to make it work for days but it robbed too much from the main melody, so I scrapped it altogether (it's still on the intro though).
In an attempt to make the song a littleee more rich I tried to include a second piano, please tell me if it's too overbearing. I also changed the end to slowly pitch down to make way for Part 4, not sure if this was needed but I thought it would make the transition at least a little more natural. On the way of all these changes I also changed mixed a little so I hope everything is fine still.
I'll be keeping an eye for someone taking part 2 (if Jacob doesn't take it) so I can adjust the intro accordingly if needed!

Hmm, I really like the additional piano licks and the ending is very nice as well! That being said, I think it could use some extra work. I believe your first preview was set up like this:
1) Piano playing chords and melody. 2) Guitar playing the same melody as the piano.
Which sounded good but maybe a little simple, so you changed it to:
1) Piano playing chords, improv and melody. 2) No guitar at all.
But that's an overwhelming amount of piano! I'm thinking it might sound better if you changed it to:
1) Piano playing chords and improv. 2) Guitar playing the melody by itself.
At the moment I prefer the first edition of your song but I'm looking forward to see if it improves in future updates :)

Despite my best efforts I'm not being able to have the guitar taking the melody role on itself, as the piano kept robbing the guitar's spotlight as a support instrument. So I had the roles reversed, somewhat! I toned down a bit on the licks and gave that to the guitar instead, and now we have the piano as the leading instrument.
I also changed mixing a bit here and there, it feels to be a very delicate process to make it just right! Please tell me what you think, although I'm not sure if I am able to change much of the song beyond that!

Well, that marks the end of this collab! Sorry for going quiet on you guys. I still have my reservations about the mix but I'm planning to post the full song to the audio portal tomorrow so I hope I did everyone's part justice.
