I personally thought the movie was funny. It wasn't really suppose to be scary or anything like that anyway. It was cheesy and bad to the point that it was good. Kind of like the way Postal was. It was obviously made bad on purpose. Some parts made me laugh, some parts made me go OHHHH or WTF, but overall a good funny movie. Probably not worth the watch though so don't go out of your way or ever pay to see this thing. :P

7/10 for a comedy and a 2/10 for a horror film.

I'm jealous. lol I am a huge Robert Englund fan, however I never saw this movie. How was Englund's acting in this film, personally?

Well to be honest even his acting was quite cheesy, but when a movie is suppose to be completely cheesy I guess you can't complain too much. He's always the funny guy in all the movies he plays anyway. Even when he's Freddy he's quite comical.

In other news I ran out of horror movies that I watched. :/

I caught the end of a movie on HBO today that had a ghost on a guy's back, but I didn't see more than 30 seconds of it so I have no clue what it was about or what it was called. Looked like it might have been an alright movie though. Sometimes they show their movies over and over so we'll see if I can't catch it again.

I also have one more DVD that I haven't watched, but I can't remember the name of it. Tomorrow night I'll pop it in and see if it's any good.

Sorry it took me so long to get back. Have you seen 2001 Maniacs, with Englund? It is very funny.

You saw the original version of Shutter. That was a pretty crazy movie. I'd definitely recommend it. I still haven't seen the new American release of the Shutter "remake." The original is just a few years old, so I consider it more just like the American adaptation of the movie, much like the Ring and Ringu, and the Grudge and Ju-On.

I just watched "Man Behind The Sun" and wasn't as grossed out as I thought I would be by reading the author's notes. But some of the stuff in that movie is quite brutal, like when they show the real autopsy of the young boy.
I'd recommend it to anyone who likes a gross out film based on actual facts.

It's been too long, but it wasn't my choice not to post in this club for so long. I just really haven't watch a Horror film since the last time that I posted. I had summer classes and really didn't have time to watch anything. I'm just hoping I'm not too late and that DemonCole will still be here to post every now and then. I just think it may be too late for that. I still love this club and hope it comes back to life.

So this is basically my bump. I have watched some movies and I will review one a night here until I have reviewed them all. Some were actually horror films and some weren't really horror films, but I'll talk abou them here nonetheless. If I'm too busy to do it tomorrow night I'll get them in this week for sure.

Response to The Horror Club 2009-07-29 21:56:26

Ok, no reply from DemonCole, but like I promised I'll write a review for you guys. Whoever you guys might apply to. :P I'll write one a night for a couple of nights as long as I remember.

The Unborn

It started off really good. Got you into the story right away and there was barely any parts where I wasn't worrying that something was going to happen or jump out and scare me. Nothing really did end up jumping out and scaring me, but the movie itself had that creepy/weird type of scary genre that I really liked. Cool demons, ghosts, monsters, etc.. Also, had good nightmares and things like that.

The plot line was alright all around even though I did end up predicting what was going to happen in the future. Some nice deaths that really kicked ass even though not much gore for you guys that like the blood. I recommend the movie if you haven't seen it yet.

9/10

That movie was quite scary when I was a young kid, but the last time I watched it a couple of years ago it was pretty blah to me. I really didn't like the ending to the movie. I think they could have actually ended the movie on the first episode and it would have been pretty good if not better. I never had a fear of clowns, but I do know quite a lot of people who are. :3

Night of the Living Dead freaked me out the first time I wartched it when I was 9 or so... one of the few movies I've ever been scared during. The ending made me sad too.

I remember watching it when I was little, but to be honest I can't remember which one it was because I've saw so many zombie movies with basically the same title. How did that one go again? I've seen just about all of the older and newer zombie movies so I'd be able to remember.

Well when I haven't seen a movie in 10 years it's hard to remember. That along with a diagnosed short term memory.. things aren't pretty at the least when talking about my memory.

Also, internet meme's are lame man. :/

Also, you gotta dig Ebert's review of it.

Ah, the review helped me out here. I remember watching it now. Not scary by any means to me. Just an average zombie movie. I'm very picky about zombie movies as I'm just a big zombie fan in general. If the zombies aren't absolutely crazy monsters that run at you at full speed tearing you a part then I'm not too interested.

Related to all the zombie talk that's going on right now, I just watched "Grindhouse: Planet Terror" and I thought that it was phenomenal. It was an amazing addition to the zombie genre, although by the end of the movie I found the explosions to be overdone and completely unnecessary. Still, without a doubt this movie was one of the better movies made recently.

I also watched "Grindhouse: Death Proof" while I was at it and I thought that movie was great as well. The action was really well done and the just plain talking parts were able to keep me interested, which is a feat most films are unable to do. I thought both the Grindhouse movies were funny, as well as being exciting and intense when they had to be.

Also one other movie I watched was "Student Bodies" which is a satirical movie about horror films in the late 70's/early 80's. This movie nailed every horror movie back then perfectly, and was much better than any of the "Scary Movie"s were. I also loved the odd murder weapons the killer used, from paperclips to blackboard erasers, to eggplant, as well as the gruesome crime scenes and hilarious characters that were thrown in as well. Has anyone else seen this hilarious gem?

I give all of these movies 4.5/5.

Well all clubs are different. To join this club you simply have to make a list of your top 15 favorite horror films and if you want you can give a little explanation of why they are your favorite films.

The only real rule behind it is that if you like movies in a series then don't count those as separate ones. Like if you like all the Friday the 13th movies just count that as one.

Even though you spam almost every topic that you post in, you never properly respond to people's post or even their PM's, and you seem like your just an alt account sent out to make people mad I'll give you one chance. Since.. it really doesn't matter to me if your an alt or not.

Just read the post above yours if you want to join. Post your top 15 favorite horror films with the rule that series only count as one movie so you can't pick all of the movies in a series individually.

In other news I think I watched the gayest horror film ever. I can't really say it was for sure because I only watched a little bit of it (the ending). It pretty much ended with the people generically going after the queen of a giant insect infestation. At the very end of it after they kill the queen they are just sitting their talking and they look over the the side and say OMG WHATS THAT. And the movie ended. No fade out or anything else. Just cut right to credits there. In my opinion the ending itself made it a fail.

Hey, I just realized that this club has been going on. I haven't read up yet, but just as a notice I will be back posting as soon as summer's over, which is pretty soon.

Ah yes, I've heard of this: thanks for sharing! Its surprisingly gruesome for a film made in 1910, particularly the scene where Frankenstein's monster is being created in the oven.

Anyway, I received a box set that contains the Universal monster films of the 30's. After watching the Frankenstein short, I think I'll start with the Karloff films.

Can I join this club please?

I just saw "The Orphan" the other day and it was the best horror I have seen in a while.

The storyline was great, they made the right move with the daughter being deaf, this allowed for them to show communication between them secretly. They made the little girl as evil as anything I've seen in a long time. The twist at the end was VERY unexpected, and the, I guess vocabulary of Esther as a little girl actually gave me a little giggle.

Im gonna keep checking up on Fearnet.com coz I think they still have free horror movies you can watch....I think they update it weekly or something....

I never saw it on fearnet, but I've got Fearnet OnDemand. I wonder if dats different? If you're willing to pay 15 bucks, then you can get terror Toons along with 49 other horror movies in the decrepit crypt of Nightmares 50 pack. I know that sounds cheap, but the 50 movies are all low budget independent films, so I'd only recommend the set if you're into those kind of movies. I don't think it's worth paying $15.00 for Terror Toons all by itself, but if you want to check into that, you can read reviews and/or order it from either amazon.com or bestbuy.com.

I just watched Drag me to Hell. It was the first horror movie that I watched in what seems to be forever because the last time I posted in this club was the last time I watched a horror movie.

The movie wasn't anything too great in my opinion. It was one of those movies that you might get a little creeped out if you are home alone and it's night time, but I don't even know if I would get scared then. That along with some really bad acting and some cheesy special effects (special effects that I could do in flash or adobe after effects probably) made it not such a great movie in my opinion.

There was a nice little twist at the end of the movie, which while generic, it was very appropriate and was a nice ending all around.

I'd give the movie a 6/10 give or take a point.
