Finntroll is folk metal but its not black metal or viking metal. blakc metal is satanic, finntroll sings about pagan ideas. its also not technically viking metal since its about trolls not vikings. for viking metal try warrior radio. thats actual viking metal and u will see the difference. moonsorrow would be viking metal though since they actually involve vikings and not just "trolls kill christians" which is the theme of most finntroll songs.

I said Finntroll was folk, not viking. Viking metal is lyrics, yes I know that, which is why I stated after the list that it was more of folk metal I liked, just viking themes was prefered. Finntroll is still catagorised as a cross of folk metal, AND black metal, because a lot of music you cant confine to every aspect of the genre so you split certain things.
Folk metal JUST AS FOLK METAL, would be Tyr. Folk music + electric guitars and drums. Period.
Finntroll has the aspect of folk tunes, and folk lyrics, but carries strong musical TECHNIQUES of black metal, not lyrical aspects.
To say Finntroll is just folk metal, would be running them up with Tyr, which are completely two different sounding things.

Viking metal is merely lyrical/theme. Bathory is black metal with viking theme ja? I dont know their lyrics well
Folk/viking is what folk metal is, plus viking theme. But a lot of folk metal bands take certain techniques from other genres, like black, to add to folk metal. Im not saying its distinguishably BLACK METAL *and* folk. Im saying, black metal has some presence in their music.
