I watched an episode of Metalaloclolaypse, didn't really enjoy it. It's not that it was cheap, or presenting a negative stereotype of metal, or anything like that...it just really wasn't funny.

Maybe it's one of those shows you have to watch with buddies or something? :/

You watched just one? That won't cut it. The first episode I watched, which was the first episode too, I just turned to my friend and said " what the fuck are they talking about?". I couldn't even keep up with the accents enough to get all the jokes. By the second one I got a few more chuckles, and it continued until I fell inlove with the show. And when I go back to the first, it's waaay much funnier, since I was being way too heavy on it before to lighten up on it

Give a few more episodes a chance, some are way more epic than others. Plus they grow on you. Toki is the most adorable thing I've ever seen.

Ulver and Borknagar ftw? Ulver's early discography is so mystical and folk-y and manages to be darker than all the other folk black metal bands.

Bergtatt is just mind-blowing. It's impossible to describe. It's got this awesome spellbinding atmosphere to it that I find absent from other bands' music.

It can get really cheesy at times... it's hard to take them seriously when they don't seem to get how ridiculous they look... at least Manowar knows how ridiculous they look and understand it's all a joke.

How did I miss this, sorry for a double post. But c'mon, the music itself is cheesy when you think about it. Subject matter in all. Did we expect them to look serious too? I mean, power metal is pretty much a musics way to a convention. But if you accept the fact that's what it is, it isn't cheesy or corny, just a time and place to want to be somewhere else, in another time, doing badass shit you can't today.

Trendy annoys me. Metalocalypse may not be OC trendy, but it's pretty trendy. It panders to all the boring things people could think up about metal, without coming up with something original or funny.
