I hate metalocalypse, too. It stereotypes all metal as being idiotic death metal. A lot of metal musicians use acoustic instruments, contrary to one of their episodes, and a lot of metal bands aren't obsessed with being "brutal", and in fact with writing good music.

Does anyone know of any good Folk or Epic bands other then the obvious Ensiferum, Borknagar, Finntroll, and Wintersun? I've tried looking myself but I mostly turned up stuff similar to Elvenking which while they are alright, isn't exactly what I'm looking for.

I can appreciate cheap dumb laughs (crank yankers ftw), but at least that show is fearless and is relevant because it is insensitive and mean in an age when we're so obsessed with being PC and inoffensive. It forces people to laugh at themselves, to learn to take a fucking joke. Metalocalypse is just stupid. It's a cheap parody of death metal, but it claims all metal is like that. It ignores a bunch of good, thoughtful musicians. And it has no reason for existance other than a represantation of only the most popular and mainstream of metal music, painting all metal by that sordid brush. Yes, I take metal that seriously. It can be serious music. But that show proclaims all metal is stupid and a joke.
