It's only funny because Necrobutcher is totally wasted for the duration and he yells "fuck" about 34 times. That and they aren't wearing any corpse paint...

But its an amazing play on Reel Big Fish :P.
And Rotting Christ. Although I found out they were BM. But it sounded cool so I let it stay as RBF.

Awesome, this will make a great side project for my band, and I've got access to one of those cool saxophone synthesizers, so I can just use my regular band for everything else and program the horns myself.

Though Hellraisers is who we should be thanking.
All this bickering is unwarranted. It all comes down to this:
We have to draw the line somewhere. If we let in TOO many bands to the fold, then it ceases to be the "metal" hell. So we just decided that numetal and metalcore are both hybrids with other genres and the former is just heavy rock, and the latter is just heavy hardcore.
And look for many of those bands you listed, opium dude, on www.metal-archives.com I can guarantee most aren't gonna be there. It's an inclusive metal website, meaning if you're not there, you're either not metal or haven't recorded any demos, EP's, albums, etc...
That's the general source and argument ender when it comes to metal. What MA says is typically regarded as canon when all is done. Of course, a few ambient side projects are on MA, but that's because members of said bands are also in metal bands, and said ambient projects are important to the metal scene.
As for us, we're a bit pickier because of that. We don't accept Chimaira, even though they're on there, simply because there's another club for that: Numetal/metalcore club. Now get yer ass over there.

Okay, I understand your guy's reasons... but I still consider numetal metal, after ll it has the name metal in it, and not many other people who hate metal at all like it cause its still has rock in it... but sure, I get what you guys are doing and I respect that... so I best be off to the
nu-metal club which for some reason has only 14 pages and hasnt had any new posts for a while now, but yea... I'm off to the nu-metal club, see yah... it was nice talking to you guys
and I'm glad you took the time to explain things rather than just bashing me like some newgrounders do to people.

Um...dude...death, thrash, black, and power metal were ALL around in the 80s...it's not like these genres are very new.

Go away.
Anyone here like In Flames' earlier stuff? (Like Lunar Strain or Subterranean)

80's death: Morbid Angel, Deicide, Unleashed, Nihilist, Dismember, Obituary
80's black: Celtic Frost, Hellhammer, Mayhem, Venom, Bathory, Sodom
80's thrash: Pretty much every single thrash metal band in existence.
80's power: Helloween, Blind Guardian, Virgin Steele.
Yep, I hope that's made stuff clearer. Of course, all four genres (except for thrash) blossomed in the 90's, they all originated in the 80's.
I haven't trusted Metal Archives since the day they added Trivium

Does anyone know any good underground death acts that don't suck I really need some good death metal right now.

Proving my point. If metal archives doesn't have you, you're definitely not metal or haven't released anything.

Me either.
They are almost as overrated as Metallica, and there are so many other melodic death metal bands that are better than them.
And all of 'em songs heard same...

I've listened to the Behind Space song from Lunar Strain and I did like that. However, that's the only early stuff of theirs I've heard.

Sounding the same? Yeah, I will have to agree with that. Most of their songs do sound the same to me. But that's probably because I've not listened to them loads of times.
I got to listen to the complete new Slayer album, Christ Illusion, today. Honestly, I've quite impressed. It's by far their best work since Devine Intervention. Especially the songs "Flesh Storm", "Catalyst" and "Supremist" sound like a mix Divine Intervention, Seasons in the Abyss and yes, I'm not kidding, Reign in Blood. Check them out. You'll agree.
Of course there's SOME shitty influence from their last three albums, but those parts are summerized in two songs, "Eyes of the Insane" and "Jihad". All other tracks are a fine listen.

Yeah i got to listen to the whole thing too. My friend went to a Slayer listening party and he managed to sneak in a tape recorder. The quality is suprisingly good for a tape recorder, still shitty though. Anyway, I liked pretty much every song except "Cult"
That continues to be the Slayer song with the worst lyrics, and they had some pretty bad ones too *coughGodhatesusallcough*. Otherwise it was pretty good. I enjoyed Jihad, although Eyes of the Insane seemed a little lackluster to me.
Here I am, bored with everything.
hey, i am in a metal band and i cant think of any good names for us. we kinda sound like slipknot/lamb of god. i just need a band name that sounds cool but not too hardcore.
thanks alot.

You, sir, are the biggest hypocrite to walk the earth.
And if you couldn't find out why, check your previous post.
The only influence Nu-metal got from oldschool Metal was the "I am a totaL hardass!" attitude.

Fuck, I must give that a listen. I haven't truly enjoyed Slayer's studio material since Seasons in The Abyss.

Look on the metal archives theres prolly tons of them.

With the exception of Reign in Blood all Slayer bores the hell outta me. Theres a few cool stuff - such as the opening to South of Heaven - but listening to a whole song just leaves me unsatified.
Still, I'll check the new stuff out.

Children of Bodom's songs sound the same too.
