I was in Italy yesterday, their music taste sucks :P

Latest albums I got:

Sodom - Sodom (disappointing, still an okay album)
Diablo - Elegance In Black (excellent groovy thrash/melodeath album)
Thou Art Lord - Eosforos (very good, harsh and quite brutal black metal album)

there's always tons of festivals around here. Waldrock, Rock am Ring, Graspop... we've got quite a lot. And tons at our borders too, they're not really far away.
And sorry to say this, but you just missed In Flames, they played here a week ago or something.

As Evil_Gnome said, I really enjoy the Thrash influence in their newer stuff, especially in Damned in Black (my favourite Immortal album). I like their old stuff too, though.

Because it's heavy, epic, and has good production. I love all immortal, including the new immortal. Well not all, since I don't like FDM.

and yes, check out Thou Art Lord, but get their demo "Cult of the Horned One" first, the song "The Era of Satan Rising" is, from what I've heard, the definite Thou Art Lord one. I'm also sure you'd like it.

heavy and well produced. I can not agree with the epic part because songs like Mighty Ravendark and The Sun No Longer Rises are my Immortal definition of epic

please do not misunderstand this, this is only my opinion and i like old Immortal quite a lot!

Norway is getting a more comfortable view of metal in general, with a new Satyricon song on eighth place on the official hit list.
Satyricon being Norwegian makes me so patriotic...
In 2001 Nightwish, wich is softer than Satyricon (i give myself the right to say this), was on the list.
So, metal music is growing here and I think it will be more and more popular, and in some years time, be the most listened to of all genres of music (alas, we still have pop and R'N'B and that shit that all the easy-manipulated think is cool and trendy.
But we shall rule, and we shall rule STRONGLY!

Just came to my mind, when ya talk 'bout cover-riffs. I can forgive to the CoB,that they have stole a riff from...umm...don't remember that band, but I mean may have happened, that they haven't noticed, that's a cover-riff? Maybe I think kinda this, cuz I'm a CoB-fan,but to the point of this post.
I know that we all don't like so much 'bout cover-riffs in different song,so I just wanna say, that more strange is,when a Finnish pop-band make a cover for Megadeth's Sweating Bullets -intro. It's exactly same. An' another cover-riff of this band is Rammstein's Du Hast -intro also,it makes this kinda"stealin'"more provocative, cuz those two songs came on radio in same time. It was really annoyin' when that song come,an' ya dunno is it Rammstein of this band(forget to say, that band is called"Apulanta")...

You're being a bit vague there. You might wanna list some of your favourite metal bands.

Still Seek and Destroy is a classic Metallica song.

Hey guys, for all of you who are interested, this is the rather ambient/folky tune I told you about, please give it a listen and tell me your opinion! (It's a song taken off my upcoming album)

Shores of Sheol - Under Thy Mighty Wings

Here are the lyrics:

Under thy mighty wings I feel secure,
Under thy mighty wings I feel safe.
Under thy mighty wings there’s no harm,
Under thy mighty wings I rebuild my glory.

He, my mighty lord, my mentor, my wall of strength,
I am not worthy to call his name.

He, my creator, my greatest gift,
I owe my life to his omnipotence.

Lord, I shall wander this planet in thy name,
I shall teach thy principles.

Lord, I shall pillage this earth in thy name,
I shall bring forth thy destiny.

Without thee, I refuse to exist
Without thee, my life is not worth the air I breathe.
Without thee, I am lost in this world,
Without thee, Elohim will take over me

Heavy_Metalix, you need to name more bands :)

Meh, I can just exploit my colleges 8mb connection :P.

I've got a recording on the way home tomorrow, my completed Music Tech coursework, not very metal though (unless Radioheads Karma Police is suddenly a metal song :S).... still I did a pretty great job on the mixdown, I even earned a handshake off my teacher :D.

I desperately want my Tascam so I can start recording for my band.

Fullmoon Diabolical Mysticism. And to the Greekbastard, I think Blashyrkh (Mighty Ravendark) and the Sun No Longer Rises are both very epic, but Withstand the Fall of Time, In My Kingdom Cold, From the Dark Mind, Solarfall, Beyond the North Waves, and At The Heart of Winter (song) are also very epic.

They're called "The Devil Wears Prada", one of my favorite songs by them being "Swords, dragons, and diet coke"; cooky name, awesome song. Give it a listen and lemme know what ya think.

I like it. I love long songs, and I love ambience, so it goes together. Oh, and sometime this summer I'm getting a Roland kickpad electronic bass drum pedal, which will be more reliable and more accurate than my old contact pedals. Plus, I can install a double kicker on it, therefore making the hi-hat pedal free to use on things other than bass drums. :)

Oh, and about the ambient song (sorry, forgot to review it) it has a very medieval, pagan feel to it. I notice you are getting quite a Maiden/Rotting christ guitar riff influence. The guitar riffs, which are harmonized and classically influenced, are a great contrast to the stark minimalism of the ambience, which takes us back to the world of the ancients...
