A-Any of those bands on my list (cept SOAD) are not popular in Britain, none of them get airplay as far as I know.

B-I don't listen to any of those bands because they're 'popular'. I have no idea as to wants popular, I just see a band that is reccomended by people and I download a few songs to see if I like. If that happens to be popular than thats that. But I don't listen to a band because they are cool or anything like that. I just listen and like or dislike.

Have any OTHER than Finns here heard about Lordi? They're a monster- heavy- metal (they ARE on Metal Archives) band from Finland, who made their way to the Eurovision. Now half of the people are trying to ban their entry because they're "Satan-worshipping-demons". These people really don't know what they're talking about, since one of the biggest hits of the band is called "Devil Is A Loser"...

Anyhow, what are your thoughts about judging the book by its cover, AND calling an Eurovision- band metal(is it believeable in your opinion?)

True, but remember that if two riffs sound similar it doesn't always mean that one copied the other, it could just be coincedence.

I think something has to be done. The maturity level in this club has gone way down. When we aren't having elitists trash anything that they don't listen to, or newbs come in here trying to say numetal is metal, we have flamewars. Whenever flamewars start, they use up pages and are totally pointless, since nobody is going to be convinced, and anybody who has something important to say never gets heard. Now, a few things:

1. This isn't the Thrash metal club or the Death metal club, nor the Obscure as can be club. This is the Metal hell. And for those who listen to fringe genres and hybrids, there's the Numetal/metalcore club. Don't chase out legit listeners. Just because you don't like something doesn't mean you have to be an ass about it. Accept diversity.

2. This isn't the Anti-numetal club. As much as we might not like the genre, it isn't productive to simply point out how much Numetal sucks. We talk about metal here. A double negative doesn't necessarily mean a positive. This is the Metal hell here, and making posts about how much numetal sucks isn't only unproductive, but it pisses off people who listen to both undisputable metal and numetal/metalcore, so keep your editorial comments to yourself.

3. This isn't the Numetal club, either. The Numetal club is the club started by Jarrydn, not Goatchrist. Leave all numetal comments at the other club. That should be fucking obvious by now.

4. Just because something is popular doesn't make it bad. After all, Emperor are one REALLY popular black metal band, yet they OWN.

5. Just because something has shit production doesn't mean it sucks. That view is very closeminded and leads to nowhere.

Well, that's pretty much it. I felt this message was needed. The whole intolerant attitude of many self proclaimed "veterans" and the unproductive, unilateral, and "I know everything" attitude of many newbs has the long standing members like Goatchrist, me, Cowscanbark, Willpostforfood, and even some newer ones like X_imperium_X a bit hesitant to post here. Now, I'm sorry if I'm ranting here, but I felt this needed to be said. This should be a haven for metalheads, not a warground for elitists or infestation of numetallers. This thing should be a pleasant escape from Numetal, not a constant reminder of it.

Also, a bit of a tip, read a few pages of this thread and "lurk" before you post in here after joining; see what the post dynamic is like.

Very eloquently put Ghoul, and I agree. I feel that diversity should be respected, and everyone here who listens to whatever should keep an open mind. I feel like the openness is being stifled by the bickering, which is a pointless waste of time and space anyway. There isn't too much more that I can add, only that I hope those minor changes happen, and that we all continue to enjoy metal.

i just think that people should beable to listen to the types of metal thay like without haveing others bitching at them for what ever reson. i also think that people should just drop the whoe numetal shit. if people are into new metal just ask them to leave without the whole yelling and bitching about if its heavy enugh or what ever. People have the right to like what they like without yelling and bitching about it.

I am mainly tired of the unconstructive attitude a lot of the people new to the 'hell have. It's not about showing off what you already know or whatnot, it's about learning more metal and having a lot of fun and stuff like that. That thing is merely part of it.
