Yep, but with my list I tried to stay with genuine metal bands

Yeah. You're right,i dont say any REAL metalbands... That's properly a hard to say any bad metal bands. I dont get names now...

All Burzum? Lucky bastard...
I got all Children of Bodom.

The only good albums Metallica made were, Ride the Lightning, Kill 'Em All, and Master of Puppets. Anyway, has anyone heard of The Black Metal band Anaal Nathrakh?

Wrong, ..And Justice For All is the only Metallica album worth owning, at least in my opinion.

Lykaki, that is awesome :P

Well, that is your opinion. ..And Justice For All was Ok, but I perfer Master of Puppets. Then again, I mostly listen to Death metal and Black Metal bands.

I never saw the so-called "greatness" in Master of Puppets, but oh well.

Same goes for me. Mostly Black, Death and Thrash.

lol that made my day!

On a completely different note, I am going to open up a discussion about the black metal band Darkthrone.

They are completely overrated. I view them as the Cannibal Corpse of black metal, but not quite as good or hilarious. They make completely contrived music, and rip off the originators of black metal. They made 3 good albums, I'll admit, (Plaguewielder, Ravishing Grimness, Under A Funeral Moon) but most of their albums are just 1 or 2 good songs and 6 or 7 filler songs. Transilvanian hunger is even worse; it has NO good songs.

I am perpetually sick of darkthrone fanboys going on about how "cold", "ingenious", and "hateful" darkthrone is. Mayhem did the same thing (but 100000x better) about 3-5 years before TH was released, and DMDS (which was recorded in 92) is infinitely better than TH. Darkthrone, while being popular in the metal scene, contributed NOTHING to the scene. From their first BM CD (A Blaze In The Northern Sky) they were ripping off Mayhem and a few others (but mostly mayhem.) They even stole riffs from Mayhem! And on A Blaze..., the singer (Nocturno Culto) sounded almost exactly like Dead! Yes, Nocturno Culto, the man who's voice is different on every CD and can't settle on a single sound, ripped off Dead.

Now, not every bm band that existed after Mayhem is ripping them off. Burzum did something new, Immortal ended up doing a lot of new things, Emperor did something new, Enslaved did something new, Dissection did something new, Gorgoroth did something new, Ulver did something new, etc... But Darkthrone didn't. They (like CC) took the stereotypical bm sound, and... made it mediocre and tragically boring.

Anybody have anything to contribute?

Response to Metal Hell 2006-01-29 17:10:11

I hear Fear Factory is Death metal/Industrial Metal, and Staic-X is Industrial Nu-Metal, yet both sound similar. Personally I think both are Industrial Nu-Metal, because apparently they seem to fit the desription pretty well. What doy youn people think?

i agree with some of the things that youve said here. but i still find that im drawn to a couple of their songs or albums. they just have one of those kinds of sounds that i find...well catchy. some of their stuff does sound a lot like other bands, and their singer never does seem to make up his mind about a distinct sound. but i just find some songs of theirs that i like.

as for cc, i never really liked them. i mean, yeah they started a lot and a lot of bands after them were influenced by them. but i just cant become attached to them like a lot of people are. its kind of because a lot of the places that i go i end up seeing 40 year old housewives wearing a cc hoodie or a little twelve year old kid wearing one. i guess it really isnt that much to complain about. they could just be a gateway band like a lot of nu metal bands are today. i just never really liked cannibal corpse. i mean, that whole chris barnes thing i thought was ridiculous.

Response to Metal Hell 2006-01-29 17:30:26

Well, I'm not going to take part in discussions about the suckage of Cannibal Corpse, since I enjoy their stuff(only the stuff with Corpsegrinder, though, Chris Barnes sucks).

I do mostly agree with Ghoul, Darkthrone are indeed very overrated. Strangely, I only enjoy their hated albums, like Ravishing Grimness and especially Plaguewielder. I haven't heard Soulside Journey and Goatlord, but I heard they are more Death Metal sounding, is that true?
Transilivanian Hunger is indeed the most overrated Darkthrone album, I just can't enjoy it. There are good songs here and there on other albums, but they are all very inconsistent, aside from the two I like.

Wikipedia also labels Fear Factory Industrial Metal/Death Metal. I haven't seen what Static- X is labelled as.

Most sites label them as Industrial metal, but they're really industrial nu-metal. And Fear Factory, I gues I would call them: Industrial nuish Death Metal :P

Listen to Soul Of A New Machine and you'll understand why they're labelled as death : )

I enjoy both eras, since CC is FUCKING HILARIOUS

Ditto plus Under A Funeral Moon.

They ARE death metal.

Transilivanian Hunger is indeed the most overrated Darkthrone album, I just can't enjoy it.

Yep, not a single song on that album I like. Maybe if they put all the riffs into 2 or 3 songs and did the same with 90% of their other albums and just made 4 or 5 GREAT albums, then they'd be much higher in my opion.

There are good songs here and there on other albums, but they are all very inconsistent, aside from the two I like.

Ditto here. As I said, Darkthrone usually make 1 or two good songs and the rest filler.

best move they ever made
the only bad thing that happened because of that was that Six Feet Under was formed, the joke of metal -_-

The REAL joke of metal is Cradle of Filth. If they kept on doing the thing they did pre '97, they'd be fucking awesome. But they're a joke now.

Eh, Chris Barnes' voice is the funniest I've ever heard.

I never took CC seriously. Just like Darkthrone.

If that's true you can play technical death metal at the age of 14, could you be necrophagists 2nd guitarist?
You're full of crap imo, I want proof :P

Eh, my cousin Keith was saying that the music I listen to (black metal, electronica, a bit of power and death) was full of shit and that anybody could play it. He's 13!!! Hahaha. He just started playing guitar.

I mean, Abbath is one killer guitarist! I don't know many 17 year olds who can do all of Immortal's songs, let alone a 13 year old!

When ya humans talk 'bout Abbath,so who's the best metal guitarist? Or the world bests?

I think Jimi Hendrix is the one of the greatest ,but Zakk Wylde is really good metal-guitarist. Also Randy Rhoads an' Dimebag Darrel were good, but they're in better lands now, where have no rapmusic an' all guys have Jackson or ESP or Gibson an' a real amplifier. :D

But what ya folks say 'bout that?

Response to Metal Hell 2006-01-30 13:03:45

I am not gonna comment on the best guitarist question... I mean, I have answered to this question so many times that I cant bother. (AZAGTHOTH AND ALEXI LAIHO (he kicks ass in three different bands and in impaled nazarene he just sweeps me off my feet) OF COURSE!!!!!!!!!!)
About Darkthrone, the only cd I like by them is Ravishing Grimness, but this one I like A LOT. And when I say a lot, I mean a lot.
Except that, they ARE way overrated. Transylvanian hunger is just horribly mediocre and boring. XD

Response to Metal Hell 2006-01-30 13:23:17

Alexi Laiho

Wako "Wildchild" Laiho (born 8 April 1979 in FINALND) is the lead guitarist from the bands Children of Bodom and Sinergy. He has also played with Thy Serpent and Impaled Nazarene on occasion in addition to Warmen.

yada yada yada

Yeah. Laiho is great. I have listened Impaled Nazarene an' thats good stuff. I have also readen, that IN's some tours in Italy (in Somewhere in Past) had to cancelled, cuz Italy is
Catholic land an' IN was too Satanic. Haha.

I am in better lands, they're called Europe ;)
