oh stop fighting you two lol.

And as for the metal hell compilation, if you like my stuff, ill contribute. But i dont know if even cyber grind fans will like it. I will have to check out gigantic brain, ive wanted to for ages. I guess my influences for my "band" is chainsaw masturbation and posthuman worm. I love shit like that.

Yeah, me too. I wasn't really talking about submitting a cover to the Metal Hell CD, but now that you mentioned it, it's starting to sound like an idea! I have no idea how my band is going to turn out though, so unfortunately I can't make any guarantees of anything... :( Only time will tell how thrilled the other guys actually are about this band. But still, as we might want to record something, be it metal or not, does somebody here have first-hand info about publishing covers?

CamillaRhodes, welcome to the club.

Holy shit, that's what I call a flame war up there! I'm not going to take part in this, especially not on the talents of anyone in here. I still need to hear your In Winter Lies the Warmth, Ghoul. Where the hell is it?

I have to disagree with Ghoul about Jarrydn's track he posted here. I like it a lot and I don't think his drum machine is distracting at all, in fact, I'd love to have one like that myself :)

Thanks man :). I'd like to start laying down some lyrics, but my voice is currently fucked (doing the whole Kill You Mother, Rape Your Dog thing at band practice :P ).

As for the drums, I'm sure Willpostforfood and I can help you out with that :)

*shies away from fighting*

I picked up "The Gallery" by Dark Tranquillity yesterday, as an early birthday present, and it kicketh major ass, my favorite of the pre-Projector era of thier work.

I'm glad people like my compilation. I think (if possible) that if GChrist and Ghoul could...erm...Work together on a track? IDK, just wanted to throw that out there. Also, are we going to distribute and/or sell, or just post it up on the site? Because I think it would be quality enough for Ghoul to sell....

Response to Metal Hell 2006-01-22 09:37:21

sorry havnt posted in a few pages :P.

just thaught i would hop in this for a second.

ghoul, your music is fine. its lo fi BM tho...so your just not gonna attract a big audience. and there is nothing wrong with a drum machine. actually drum machines can sound exactly like real drums if you know how to use them properly.

about the production argument! i do agree that ghoul maybe you should clean it up a bit. Even bands like mayhem that used to have the really lo fi wash out production are now moving on to use more clean and better sounding things. :( and i cant believe you said goratory has shit production.

meh..thats really all i have to say. i hate to pick a side like this..but ghoul you are being kinda unreasonable on a few things..

And ghoul, ill send you a song on msn for your opinion on it.

Btw a compilation is something meant to have DIFFERENT parts, so everyone having a different style, a different production, different tastes and different strenghts and weakness is what a compilation is about. No one will be outshadowed by anyone esle, everyone's music is di-fucking-fferent! Jarrydn kinda pissed me off. I dont get it, he is a nice guy usually.

Anyway... Welcome to the new guy, some cool stuff mentioned. Though its kinda weird how you love metal and nu-metal/metalcore with equal passion... O.o

alls i know is that its sketchy, and somethin about getting permission from the original composer blah blah blah. that is, if we intended to sell it. which is a toss up between a good idea and a bad idea, really.
anyhoo, my lame acoustic services are offered to everyone.

Eh. I really don't like drum machines, they are usually too high in the mix. I don't like the song simply because it sounds like something my dad would listen to. There's no danger, no attitude, and more importantly, the songwriting is rather unoriginal and seems to follow the "more money, more quality" philosophy, which isn't NECESSARILY true. It seems to be very technically great, but just a shell of black metal, an attempt by outsiders to make black metal. I guess it's not my cup of tea. It sounds too much like demon burger or cradle of fags to me.

Still... it's annoying robotic.

Clean production IS shit production in my mind. It takes no imagination to do. It always leaves me feeling as if I'm watching a Ken Burns documentary. I prefer having a production that reminds me of the vast, icy, abysses and deep cataclysms of the underworld, or the incredible majesty and greatness of the pagan forest. I don't want the production to sound like it was made in the studio. That's shit production. Anyways, Goratory has always mixed the bass in too high.

meh..thats really all i have to say. i hate to pick a side like this..but ghoul you are being kinda unreasonable on a few things..

Nah. I stand by everything I said. I prefer black metal to be gritty, dirty, washed over, and whatnot. And there are STILL bands who go for the lo-fi thing, and I'm one of them. As a funny afterthought, though, Kali Yuga actually has a production about 1000x cleaner than most of my other stuff.

Don't worry about it, I was more taken aback by Jarrydn's fowardness than anything else.

He's always called me an elitist... which is funny... because I'm totally not. He just has no respect for lo-fi black metal. And I'm not even that... the music from the demo has shit production. I'll admit that. But the other one is just meant to have a wild, out-of-control production. Intentional, b.

shit. I like that kind of stuff. Well, I like opera electronica more, but I still LOVE opera metal. Or rather, blackened metal with a dude singing opera in the background. Yeah. I just don't like nu metal/metalcore. The only "metal" I don't like. The rest I love.

When I'm close to forming a understanding opinion you write something like that. This is what makes you SOUND like an elistist, even though you pretend not to be one. It makes you sound like that you know the art of "making tr00 kvlt black metal" and guys like Jaaryn are outsiders. How do you know? It's just a difference, and btw, his samples remind me more of newer Graveworm than anythingelse. Still a lot more BM than what Dimmu and Cradle put out.

I said NECESSARILY. In english, that means the "more money, more quality" philosophy doesn't work 100% of the time. I'm not saying more money is a bad thing, I'm just not saying it's the cure all panacaea. There's better ways of making good music than throwing money at it, and his sample just sounds like that, in my opinion. I listened to it once. Didn't remember a thing from it. Listened to it again. Same result. After 10 listens, I still wasn't hooked in. I guess it was just too boring for me.

I was actually more riding on the comment about "outsiders". Oh well, I listened to the song about three times and most of it is still stuck in my head.

btw, how would you classify my kind of production(on In Articulo Mortis) ?

and I'm downloading In Winter Lies The Warmth right now, thanks :)
