I've tried listening to some black metal in the past, I didn't really like it. I'm a bigger fan of death metal in general and it's subgenres.

All good. My very first song that got me into metal was Rapture by Morbid Angel. I've been hooked to DM until I discovered Black Metal. Once you go black, you never go back.

I could tell the same thing about death metal. I've been listening to metalcore prior to that, now I don't really listen to metalcore, rather just death metal.

Not a big fan of metalcore. Some decent songs here and there. There is deathcore and blackcore which I find to be superior.

Never heard of blackcore before. I do like deathcore as well. If I had to say a favorite deathcore band, it would most likely be Slaughter to Prevail. Their Kostolom album is amazing.

Because they have been in a pretty depressing state for many years now, but their early work is interesting.
That may have been it. I heard they had gotten subpar at some point and that's when I didn't think much to look into them. But I should at least give their classics a chance.
But if there's a band that I highly doubt I'll warm up to is Sleep Token. I've given them some listens before and even see them on stage for a little bit but... I don't vibe with them at all.
I only know their visuals, I don't think I've heard a single note, but I don't like how they sound even in texts I read about them :-P Don't want to judge, but don't feel the urge to check them out anytime soon.
You're not missing out on anything. I actually wanted to give them a try cause I'm all for metal being mixed with other genres to come up with other ideas. It's what got me to really love Diablo Swing Orchestra for their mixture of metal and swing (and amongst other stuff) but how Sleep Token execute their music is not it. I really can't fathom how they've gotten big when their music bores me so much (seen a bit of them live and still didn't vibe).
In other news - I'm still making music and if any of you like old-/mid-school gothic/heavy material with clean vocals and the occasional grunt, here's some Goatchrist/Adder's Fork for you:
Adder's Fork - The Colour of Cold Rain
I'm glad my stuff is still doing well on Newgrounds. I didn't think that posting stuff to the Audio Portal would make much sense in this day and age but actually it does.

Thanks for sharing them. I especially loved The Colour of Cold Rain

Thank you for listening, glad you dig it!
Let's give some love to rap metal
It remains a mystery how Leo can do pull off all of this stuff. I don't like everything he does, but he certainly a man with huge talent.
Well, have a show tonight. Then we're SUPPOSED TO be recording stuff again every day I have off till our drummer goes to Japan in about a monthish for like 2 weeks.
I put a lot of emphasis on "supposed to" because we haven't had anything recorded recorded since fucking February. Shit either keeps coming up, people get sick, or we just can't for one reason or another. Been a band for a bit over a year now, have about a dozen songs written and another one just about finished and yet we've got one song up anywhere for people to hear and that's not even a version we recorded with the person who is supposed to be doing that with us 😒
Also, apparently even though we do "doomy" metal we had to trim down a song because it was "like 7 minutes long and it felt too long" and the person who said that was at one point wondering if we weren't "doomy enough" because we didn't have any overly long songs. Make that make sense 🙃

Kinda doesn't 🙃 but I wish you all the best with the struggle! I've tried working with bands eons ago, but I've been the most forward-pushing dude many times and I hated being the only one having true visions and not procrastinating. I'm pretty fine doing everything by myself these days.
Throw some links in here, when you got something together!
Might as well plug my new lyric video for "Apparitions" here. Really like how that one turned out:
I've recently discovered this song, I got hooked to it immediately, it's really good

benighted goes fucking hard
I have 1 friend who likes DSBM. I prefer regular black metal over it, but altogether I'm a much bigger fan of grindcore, metalcore, deathcore, death, deathgrind.

Check out Slaughter to Prevail's Kostolom album if you haven't done it yet, it's amazing. Not sure if I have mentioned it before here. May have.
I can't understand why this song wasn't successful. She's amazing. Fun fact, this song was used in the animation (HAMSTER HELL)
Another great song from Asmegin
