Maybe because some stuff ISN'T metal. Like I fucking love Led Zeppelin with a burning passion but I will not hesitate to tell someone that they are not metal.
Also metal archives is fucking shit stop pretending they are the authority on these things when they clearly are not...
I only direct people to metal archives if I'm trying to show them something. I don't in any way shape or form consider them any way THE authority when it comes to metal when they're not. They're either one side of the spectrum or the other. They're either knowledgeable about what they're talking about it they're about as intelligent as a dried up sponge.

No, son. Why would we be grateful that people drop in here to talk about non-metal bands? You're missing the point completely because you're refusing to accept the basics of the discussion. The thing is that we disagree with the idea that nu-metal would be a sub-genre of metal.
Now if I was to start talking about how I like all the nice electronic ambient artists and that someone was to tell me that these artists do not belong in this club? Would you serve us the same kind of rhetoric as to how we're being so ungrateful and whatnot?
And what if peole don't like being told that what they like is not metal? Are we supposed to say sorry and just accept whatever music that isn't metal in here? Black Veil Brides is not a metal band, k? Simple. Doesn't mean you can't like them, but they are not metal. I've heard this kind of lousy arguments about how metalcore is so metal from people who listen to metalcore and metalcore only. Like they really really really really really want to be part of the club, but they don't like any black metal, any death, any doom, any stoner, any drone, any blackened death, any thrash (except for Slayer and Metallica) and they haven't heard anything about heavy metal beyond Maiden and Sabbath. Why the fuck do you care if it's not metal? We've all responded pretty much the same way to this and we were all very polite. We all said that it doesn't mean it's not good. It means that Rammstein is NDH and barely as anything to do with metal.
It's also quite annoying that you refuse to debate on if something is metal or not by trying to prove that the music is metal, and that instead you choose to pick on the fact that we care about keeping the Metal Hell about metal music.
You want to debate and tell us that you think Kvelertak or Stolen Babies are metal enough to be discussed in here and you want to provide points to prove they are? Then be my guest! You're welcome to do it.
And no, Metal Archives is not fucking shit, and yes, they are a kind of authority. For one thing because they are the biggest and most accurate database for metal music IN THE WORLD, and also because there is no kind of similar database for other genres. It's a vast community with a lot of people involved, and even if some bad decisions are made sometimes on this website, they usually are pretty accurate.

Shit is always more complex than anyone likes to pretend... I'm pretty sure they cranked out a bit of metal in there time along with blues folk and that psychedelic shit...
Yeah, and UFO were also a proto-metal band. We can all agree on this. Are they a metal band though?
It sure doesn't mean that you can't bring these bands up. It just means that if you want to join the Metal Hell and that what you give us as your favorite metal bands is AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Kansas, Aerosmith and The Rolling Stones, then maybe you're not in the right place.
The fact that this club is less active these days (as the rest of Newgrounds is) shouldn't matter as to what we talk about in here. If the litterature club starts to get less active, are they going to just talk about whatever comic books, newspaper and stories from the back of cereal boxes?
Again, if you want to debate the metalness of some artists, or provide us links or explanations as to what you think was metal in Led Zeppelin, we're not going to tell you not to. But this club should still be about metal.
At 12/22/16 01:52 AM, Zornuzkull wrote: It's not a sub genre it's a fusion genre... Of metal... Or did you miss that son?
Without metal the genre wouldn't exist this means that metal genre is intrinsically woven into it...
I'd say that makes it metal enough... Despite metal archives ass gravy assessment on the subject...
Most genres of music that exist today wouldn't exist if it wasn't for genres that preceeded them. It still doesn't mean that metal is rock, and it still doesn't mean that rock is blues.
Blah blah blah blah blah blah...
You're such a butthurt basement dweeb, haha! It's amazing.
I find your condescending rambling both unnecessary and irritating...
Well, you're welcome to fuck right off, you know.
Never heard of them...
I would have easily guessed that.
Maybe you should sign up there then and take your elitist attitude with you...
Can't you understand once and for all that this isn't about what is better then what? It's about what's actually in the music and what is part of the genre and what isn't. Your whole post reeks of idiotic butthurt and total lack of intellectual honesty.
Did I say they were a metal band? dumb ass...
You pretty much fucking did, asshat.
Too long didn't read...
Keep your shitty club... I'm not a member and I never will be but I will keep posting...
If only to piss you off... Anyone who takes a genre of music this seriously is either autistic or in serious need of perspective on life which are you?
I'd the one who actually understands that rock music isn't hip-hop.
I'm also going to warn you that this childish "I'm not a member and I never will be but I will keep posting... If only to piss you off..." attitude is against the rules not only of the Metal Hell but of this whole BBS, and that if you keep up with this attitude it's gonna be quite easy to get a moderator in here to deal with you.
Enjoy your non-stay.
honestly i find the whole genre debate kind of stupid, while i can understand that some nu metal and metalcore bands dont have enough metal elements to qualify as metal, in some cases its very nebulous, Trivium for example is often called a metalcore band but their music, at least their earlier stuff is mostly based around thrash, heavy metal and melodic death metal influenced guitar riffs and soloing, the most core thing about them is the vocal style. the core influence is definitely lesser than the metal influences. with slipknot also the drumming and guitarwork falls into the metal genre more than anything else.

I agree with you. I think it has caused drama that is unwanted and not needed. I asked a question about GWAR being Metal enough, and I never got a definite answer.

So Immortal have announced a future release for 2017:
IMMORTAL will start recording their ninth album in January 2017.
The songs have been ready for some time, but we wanted to record it at the right place and time. We will once again work with Peter Tägtgren at Abyss Studio who produced our four last albums. The band will enter the studio during wintertime to have the right atmosphere.
We look forward to record and present the new album to the IMMORTAL hordes sometime in 2017.
The tracks that will appear on the album are: ‘Northern Chaos Gods’, ‘Into Battle Ride’, ‘Gates To Blashyrkh’, ‘Blacker Of Worlds’, ‘Where Mountains Rise’, ‘Grim And Dark’, ‘Called To Ice’, and ‘Ravendark’.
Blashyrkh, December 2016
Demonaz and Horgh
I do not know what to expect out of this. This is going to be Immortal's first record since Abbath left. Some people think it's going to sound pretty much like Demonaz's solo project, maybe with less focus on the viking stuff and more of the thrashy approach to black metal that Immortal have had over the second half of their career.
The tracks names are pretty generic and uninspired though... "Into Battle Ride" is probably the worst, haha
What do you guys expect of this one?
You know, they have gotten mods to step in before. I think the anime club may have done the same.

I thought that was pretty much agreed on, haha
I don't really like them all that much, but they put on a show and their fans like it so... It's a gimmick, but at least it's not BabyMetal.

ive been listening to a lot of yngwie lately, he was one of the originators of european style power metal, also pioneered the neoclassical guitar playing style.

I'm not too fond of power metal anymore. I used to like some, but I grew tired of most. I still enjoy some Labyrinth and Blind Guardian from time to time though. But I've been big on black and death metal lately.
Right now, I've been going through a lot of Bolt Thrower. I seriously love this band with a passion!
Bolt Thrower - Eternal War
It also got me intersted in Warhammer 40K for obvious reasons.
Can someone please explain to me why these bands exist?

Nice collection of music.
This is what happens when 3 rappers make a metal song. We hope this pleases you.
So, what's your favorite country that metal comes from? For me I'd have to say Finland. Finnish metal is simply the fucking best, it always sparks my interest way more than any other kind.

Either the US or England for me. Both of which have released some damn good Stoner and Doom Metal.

Well for starters the US has:
Sleep, Windhand, Wo Fat, Pallbearer, Orchid, OM, High on Fire, Ogre, Elder, Black Pyramid, Pentagram, Cough, Bongripper, Bongzilla, Sunn O))), R.I.P., and Acid King just to name a few.
The UK/England has:
Electric Wizard, Uncle Acid & The Deadbeats, Moss, Conan, Pagan Altar, My Dying Bride, Witchfinder General, Warning, Orange Goblin, Cathedral, and Paradise Lost to name a few.

This is true. But regardless of what some people would say, metal is far from dead. It's just not as prominent in the mainstream anymore. You actually have to LOOK for good metal music. And there is plenty of that. Especially in Europe and both North and South America.
