Just because something sucks doesn't mean it isn't metal. After all, Lamb of God sucks, but it's still metal.

Besides, I like both early and later versions of all those bands, as I have albums from both eras. The later versions have better production and better playing, anyway.

Jees! Take a valium or something. He just said the earlier was better and I agreed.

As for the COF issue, they are indeed metal. Like Ghoul said, Dusk And Her Embrace is a very metal (and very awesome) album. Even now they can be considered metal...of course very borderline.

As for the later/earlier issue, for a newbie I'd go with the bands' later releases, as they have the best production and for lots of those bands (in my opinion) the best releases (except for maybe Emperor). The harsh production of early releases might turn someone new to the genre off. But...meh...you never know, cause that certainly wasn't the case for me.

Okay, folks! I tried a couple of the songs you suggested but I still have a long way to go!
So far the bands I've heard material from since joining:

-Blind Guardian
-Borknagar
-Deathchain
-Dragonforce
-Pantera

I'll start searching for the rest of the bands soon, as I have some time on my hands. :) It's true, I actually liked the merry-go-round power metal! ^^ Seriously, it takes some skills to play like that, but the lyrics were kind of hard to relate to... But still, great pieces. The black metal stuff is a bit sad thing for me, since so little of it seems to be sung clearly and as I said before, I like singing to music... Otherwise than that, it surely has attitude!

Holy shit ive missed a lot, well to the finnish dude who wanted to know some clean vocal bands, try type o negative and my dying bride (well mostly clean, there some growls). Finland is like one of the 2 places i want to move to. That and sweden.
Anyway ghoul ha i swear pretty much non stop too.

I been getting into more melodic/weird/non metal stuff lately, i just been in a non BRUTAL mood. Bands ive checked out are

Tomahawk (mike patton is a genius)
Bloodhound Gang (funny toilet humour)
Fantomas (mike patton again but even weirder than tomahawk)
Mortiis (great ambient/industrial metal)
Type O Negative (gothic/doom metal pretty kool)

No doubt most of you have heard/heard of these bands so i would like to hear your opinions on them.

At the moment im listening to the berzerker. A GREAT Australian band, one of the few masked bands that are actualy good. Support aussie grind!

Oh and tuovila, add me if u want, i like talking to people on here, and its good discussing music, it seems like u have a broad taste in music, which is just what im trying to do with my taste.

I'm pretty forgetful sometimes...^^* I totally forgot to mention Sonata Arctica, which is from my neighbourtown, Kemi... Actually my hometown used to be a part of Kemi but became a municipality of it's own a couple of decades ago... enough about that... I also have heard some Soilwork in the past, as well as single songs from several other bands...

And by the way, as a Finn, it's my national duty to discourage anyone from moving to Sweden!
