Soooo....almost all of Morbid Angel has left the band. Only people in the band now are Trey Azagthoth and Steve Tucker has come back. But that's it.

Also @BrenTheMan I haven't listened to the whole album yet because I haven't gotten my vinyl that I ordered yet. I'm doing with it what I did with Acid King. I listened to 1 or 2 songs but won't listen to all of it til I get my copy.

Don Anderson from Agalloch did a talk in UVic that is entitled: Weaving Influences: A Talk by Don Anderson from Agalloch.

I highly recommend it to everyone from the Metal Hell. Don Anderson is an amazing musician, a college professor and all-around great individual. This is his talk about Heavy Metal, it's history and the place of Agalloch (his band), in the history of heavy metal music. And it's very interesting. I cannot stress this enough... you guys HAVE to watch it!

Well, what's the verdict? Did you check it out yet?

New Cattle Decapitation tracks have been pretty impressive. New LoG, Black Dahlia, and Kataklysm tracks haven't really done it for me so far.

The only release I am REALLY stoked to hear is the new Gojira, but I think they just started working on that.

Guitarist for After the Burial apparently killed himself. He seemed like a good dude. Pretty sad.

Yeah I did. I thought it was really good. Almost as good as De Vermis Mysteriis.

Discovered them recently too, good shit.

Dimebag Darrell's birthday today - celebrating it by listening to Pantera / Damageplan albums all day long. Might have to have a few drinks tonight too.

Fabulous, but they've gone out of order with the colors. :p I guess fans picked the color? Cuz I saw that "any color you like" post on FB with the rainbow-fied Baroness logo and everybody was commenting they want the next album to be purple. haha

Leeches Of Lore will be releasing their 4th full-length album on September 22nd.

I'm one of the lucky few who's managed to get the whole album before the release date because of one my friends is an admin on Metal Archives and stays a lot in contact with various musicians.

Oh! And I've also been listening to a lot of Gojira and Om lately. Both are very different, but both are amazing bands! I'll talk to you guys more about the music festival I attended a month ago. Can't believe I didn't even mention it before, haha :P

Yes! Awesome bands. Gojira is overdue for an album, IMO.

Anyways, do any of y'all have any post-metal recommendations? In the vein of Neurosis, ISIS, Pallbearer, etc. I like that kind of stuff a lot and I'm itching for some new bands.

I have been listening to Weigh beneath my sin by Five Finger Death Punch...a freaking great Metal song and I am planning on checking some of their other stuff.

Speaking of Disturbed, I just picked up Immortalized (Deluxe Edition) the other day. Got six songs left to listen to, but so far I like it.

Yes, they definitely are.

Seeing them live at Heavy Montreal 2015 in early August made me want to listen to their studio stuff more. It was absolutely amazing, and the pit was fucking chaotic!

The Ocean is a pretty interesting band.
Cult Of Luna is also pretty good.
Mouth Of The Architect also plays an interesting brand of depressive post-metal.
Boris is a very ecclectic band that you might enjoy if your like stoner rock, doom metal, sludge, drone, dreampop and the likes. If you're really looking for heavy and slow stuff, you might enjoy their tracks Just Abandoned Myself, 鐘 (The Bell Tower of a Sign), or Farewell.
Intronaut is also pretty interesting when it comes to progressive post-metal stuff.
If you want to push the boundaries further, there is this stoner/doom band I mentioned earlier... Om. They are an amazing bass guitar and drums duo, and they kick major asses!

Oh, and before I leave, here's a picture I took from the pit during Gojira's set at Heavy Montreal 2015.

Could you be a little more precise?

But I presume that you are talking about Heavy Montreal. It's a "heavy music" festival. It used to be called Heavy MTL, but over time the line-up changed to include punk rock, some glam rock, hard rock, and sadly... piss like Asking Alexandria... so they switched the name to Heavy Montreal.

It's a big festival that takes place on the Sainte-Hélène Island in Montreal over three days. There are four stages, and a lot of good bands.

I personality had the chance to see all these bands live:

Beyond Creation
Deafheaven
Arch Enemy
Abbath
Gojira
Testament
Billy Talent
Dying Fetus
Faith No More
Insomnium
Pig Destroyer
Sanctuary
Bullet For My Valentine
and Slipknot.

My personal top 3 were Gojira, Deafheaven and Beyond Creation. But I have to say that Billy Talent, Dying Fetus and Pig Destroyer were also very good live. Not to mention the amazing pit during Bullet For My Valentine.

Sadly though, I missed Omnium Gatherum, Ihsahn and Neurosis...
