Don Anderson from Agalloch shared this 1998 promo picture on Facebook today. If you want, you can vote it up on last.fm. It would be awesome to make it the main :)

Earthbound OST - Pokey Means Business

I had actually forgotten how metal this track is. If a band was to ever cover this track, I could die a happy man!

Trying to find a metal band with a song that starts with a star wars episode 3 quote: "execute order 66"

Sounds familiar to anyone?

I never played Earthbound, but this could totally be covered by Metaljonus from NG or 331Erock on YouTube (that "so and so meets metal" guy).

I can imagine a band combining parts of these together and making a heavier adaptation along the lines of stoner rock/metal with fuzzy kinda distorted guitars.

It's an amazing game, seriously. And it aged very well. It's still fun and addicting and the music kicks major asses, and the main villain is absolutely terrifying!

But I wasn't talking about metal adaptations of non-metal pieces, but really just a straight on cover. This track is very metal as it is. Only it's in 16-bits. Not that it ever made a track any less good, but having this played by a thrash metal band could make for a great interpretation.

There are also some people who make 8-bits or 16-bits adaptations of actual metal tracks like this one. I think it's fucking ace!

Not really asking to join but more so to join in casual/passing conversations. I guess you could consider me a guess if you all are gracious enough. And just wanting to hear some thoughts, suggestions, and/or opinions since I've been out of the metal game for a while and have been slowly getting back into it.

CONAN - Foehammer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-of5C1OHX_8

That detail man. Every time I watch this video I notice something I didn't before. I've not listened to too much of them but what I have I like.

High on Fire - Romulus & Remus https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gwxq9idrqWY

Love me some mythology and these lyrics hit the spot pretty good. I always feel like going to a hardcore show and stomping ass in the pit. I mean, to each his own but when hardcore dancers show up in a pit it's a blizzard of elbows and knees.

Iron Regan: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VqmCOSaYAXY

I've always enjoyed speed metal and hard core punk and this hits the spot. Iron Regan isn't metal but I hope some of you dig hardcore punk. My buddy saw them at The Earl in Atlanta a few months back going in unsure of what to expect and said he was pretty impressed.

Amon Amarth - Where silent Gods stand guard https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fJQix1NDruA

Me and a close friend always play this song when we drink because of how it makes us feel. That brotherhood man, gotta love it. Sloppily planned to see them live when the came to Atlanta this year with Skeletonwitch and Enslaved but the concert was sold out days before the even. Next time though.

That's about it, I don't want to overstay my welcome here.

I'd ask what you guys think about Mastodons new sound and how Brent Hinds said they're sticking with this new sound but I'm pretty certain that's close to a dead horse by now. I mean it's not bad but I don't really dig it. Then again, when something new/change comes along to something you're familiar with it's hard to adapt to it.

If you want a good kicker for psychedelic trips Spectrelight by them is a personal fave. Man, talk about some intense shit towards the end where the stag raises up. Needless to say I am never prepared for that. Gets me every time.

If you guys read any of this I appreciate it. Maybe I'll join sometime in the near future if you all are willing.

It was the worst concert experience of her life because some dude behind her was being a creep and kept grabbing at her. So she proceeded to kick and elbow the dude til he finally left her alone.

haha that's a shame, it was a great show but honestly it could have been a better experience for me, I came to the show late so even though I had a front line pass I wasn't in the front so I had to headbang while standing in place surrounded by stoned idiots.

But like I said before, Goatwhore tore it up better than all the bands on the card, they were fucking phenomenal. So glad to see them again on the Summer Slaughter Tour, this time I WILL be in the front row to witness the greatness ;)

Hope you get chosen man, it would be pretty cool to have someone from this thread play in a band like that. I never heard of them but they seem fairly known, probably pretty popular in Ireland.

What struck me about it is how catchy a lot of the vocal melodies are. It excels in that respect, but the music itself isn't that interesting.

But I seriously don't want to create a fucking account on Profound Lore Records to get the album, especially considering the fact that I can pay with PayPal.

Listening to a lot of Sigh, Bongripper, Leeches Of Lore and Leprous. All amazing bands :)

I've tried listening to some Neurosis, but the only album I've listened to so far is their album with Jarboe in 2003. And I didn't really like it. It was way too focused on the vocals and that's not really something I like in my metal. I'll try the other albums eventually, though.

They have a pretty diversified discography, and their sound has evolved a lot. Depending on your personal tastes, you'll most likely enjoy some specific albums more then others.

When it comes to their black metal sound, their very first album Scorn Defeat is a must. The tracks Victory of Dakini, At My Funeral and Ready For The Final War are all amazing!

If you think that you'd like their most psychedelic rock and avant-garde heavy/balck metal music, you might enjoy the albums Imaginary Sonicscape and In Somniphobia. So tracks like Corpsecry - Angelfall, Scarlett Dream, Dreamsphere (Return to the Chaos), A Sunset Song, L'excommunication à minuit, Purgatorium, Amongst The Phantoms of Abandonned Tumbrils, etc.

If you think you'd like their more straight-forward, aggressive and thrashy (yet still very avant-garde) stuff more, you might enjoy their albums Hangman's Hymn (which is a personal favorite of Sense) and Scenes From Hell. Listen to the tracks Introitus/Kyrie, Inked In Blood, Death With Dishonor, Prelude to the Oracle, The Red Funeral and Vanitas. All amazing tracks!

These are some of my favorite tracks, from my favorite albums. I've left out quite a few other amazing tracks (Curse Of Izanagi and Pale Monument come to my mind). They are also quite good, but I've listed my personal favorites!

Tell me what you think !!!

Mostly podcasts. Not much music lately. Mainly SModcast stuff and a bit of Mohr Stories and Nerdist.

At 6/1/14 03:41 AM, HeavenDuff wrote: Hangman's Hymn (which is a personal favorite of Sense)

That it is, and Imaginary Sonicscape. A couple of other tracks of theirs that stick out in my mind are Zombie Terror from Infidel Art, Messiahplan from Gallows Gallery, and Prelude to the Oracle from Scenes From Hell. Gallows Gallery was my first Sigh album, which I got before I was really into harsh vocals.

About Shinichi leaving, I didn't know. That's too bad

INTERVIEW with SIGH

"TMF: What plans does Sigh have for this year?

SIGH: The top priority is to finish up the new album Graveward. It’s been taking almost forever, but we will finish it up soon. Now we have got rid of the lazy sloppy guitarist and recruited You Oshima from Kadenzza as a replacement, who can play the guitar by far better than Shinichi, so the new album will be a big step forward from the previous albums. We’d call the new album’s style Cinematic Horror Metal. It’s the most epic, the heaviest and the most eerier album by Sigh. The album should be some time later on Candlelight Records. Other than that, some other releases are being planned such as the new vinyl versions of Scorn Defeat, Infidel Art and Ghastly Funeral Theatre, split 7″EP etc."

I seriously can't believe this crap! If Mirai really said that, he's one hell of a fucking cunt, and I don't what Sigh will ever release without Shinichi. I seriously hope this is a joke because you seriously can't be that much of a piece of shit to a guy who worked on some and released albums with you for the last 25 years.

I'm going to repeat myself here, but I seriously hope that this is a joke! Otherwise, I'm going to fucking hulk-out!

Response to Metal Hell 2014-06-03 17:26:18

You Oshima has been a one man band kinda guy with Kadenzza, like Vladimir Cochet or 2000s era Quorthon, or our own Goatchrist or ElGhoulio. Dude definitely has talent. Also likely nerd. I found out about Kadenzza several years ago when searching "anime" under lyrical themes on the Metal Archives site. It's been a long time since I listened, though. I used to have the Second Renaissance on my computer before it got infected with a worm and had to be wiped.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ug53Pk3XDd4

I dunno why Mirai made such dickish comments. Clearly, this was a bitter departure and he's taking it personally. He could have been classier about it.

Greedy and lazy!

Anyways, Sammy Duet is busy with Goatwhore stuff so the likeliness of this happening is slim. Even with the fact that Audie died and no one has really said much about doing Acid Bath stuff for the past, what? 16-17 years?
