Oh, but that's not what I meant. I meant that the first DTA tour included something like 10 ex-members of Death and that they all took turns on stage, playing Death tracks. But this year, it's only the line-up of the Human album, with the tour guitarist of Cynic playing guitar and doing the vocals.

And I also think it's great that they are doing this. Some people have complained that it's not "the real Death", but like they said, this is as close as it will get to the real thing. And just like you, I was too young when Chuck died to ever see Death live. I think it's a great idea :)

It's the Kerrang tour, and tickets are just £20 ($31). Loads of my friends are going and while Limp Bizkit are musically awful, they played a pivotal role in my evolution to a metalhead.

I absolutely adore it, and all of their albums. And Amesours and Les Discrets, Neige is a genius. I have got to listen to every band he has ever played in.

Haha! Then pay a little visit to Peste Noire, but don't expect to find much of his personality in their music. Plus, Famine (the leader of Peste Noire) seems to hate Neige, at least that's what he shows in public. I still have to get myself some music by Amesoeurs and Les Discrets, myself.

Thats nothing. Saint Vitus and Pallbearer are going to be playing near here next month and tickets are only $15-20.

I think $15 is the lowest you can get. So low, I sometimes wonder how 3-4 bands of 3-5 musicians each manages to get any kind of money from these gigs...

Hello Metal people, it's been a while.
I would like to recommend a band if I may. The band is called Cult of Fire, and even though some of you may have heard of them before, they aren't widely known. Anyway... They are a Czech black metal band that I recently saw live at Beyond the Gates. I originally went to see Mgla (who were excellent even though I didn't get to see their whole show because it was getting difficult to breathe at the venue. Apparently they couldn't even play their whole set because the drummer experienced the same problem as I did), but after seeing Cult of Fire's live show, I bought their first (and so far only) LP which I have really enjoyed listening to since I got it. So my sister just got back home from being in Las Vegas for the past 5 days. She saw Megadeth and Iron Maiden.
Apparently while Iron Maiden was playing some big dude out in the crowd was shoving around smaller dudes and chicks and in the middle of 2 Minutes To Midnight, Bruce stopped singing and yelled at the person in the crowd and the dude was kicked out. Anyone familiar with the band Darkspace? I found them the other day and I like them quite a bit, which is odd because normally atmospheric black metal (save for Summoning and the like if you consider them atmospheric) put me to sleep. Wanted to know what NGers felt regarding them, if anything.

I got into them a few months back. It was their numerical approach to album/song titles that caught my attention initially. I don't often listen to this kind of music but every once in a while when I get the feeling for it, Darkspace is perfect, especially in the background while you're reading a good science fiction novel. I kinda wish their drums sounded a bit different but I can't really think of any sound that would work better.

There was this thread on General forum about music from the 90's, and I made a post in it. Thought I would share it here. It seems appropriate for this thread :)

We often forget the high importance of the 90's in the development and evolution of two very creative and prolific genres, black metal and death metal.

Black metal

The early classics of Darkthrone and Mayhem, which are both very important to the evolution of black metal, were released in the 90's. So were the best albums by both Gorgoroth and Immortal. The 90's also saw the black metal era Ulver release two very influent albums (Bergtatt and Nattens Madrigal). Borknagar, Primordial, Burzum, In The Woods... are all other bands who had an important influence over the genre.

Black metal is a genre that branched out toward other genres thanks to the work done by the artists of the 90's. It's a genre that managed to come in contact with industrial, ambient, avant-garde and even drone (with the excellent Sunn O))) album The Black One). This is how we ended up with legendary avant-garde black metal bands like Sigh, who made their way through countless musical genres to add more depth to their avant-garde black metal style. Bands like Emperor and Arcturus also managed to help push this genre in various directions.

Death metal

All the Death albums (except for two) were released in the 90's. We are talking about great albums like Symbolic and Human. Cryptopsy's two first albums (None So Vile and Blasphemy Made Flesh). Cannibal Corpse's first few albums, such as Tomb Of The Mutilated and Eaten Back To Life were very important for the transition from thrash metal to death metal. Demilich, Gorguts, Quo Vadis, Atheist are also important bands of the genre that produced great material in the 90's.

Death metal through the 90's also spawned new sub-genres and new genres. By essence, death metal was meant to explore more technical aspects of music, so was it meant to meet jazz one day. Some awesome bands like Cynic spawned in the 90's and gave use memorable and unique albums like Focus.

Windhand's new album Soma was just released today and since I get emails alerting me about this stuff from Relapse I decided to check out the link for the album on bandcamp. While checking out the tracks and all that I was actually really shocked to see the length of the final track. All together the album is 75 minutes long and the vast majority of that length is in the last 2 tracks. Track 6 (the last track) alone clocks in at 30:30.

Windhand's debut Relapse full length is nothing short of transcendent. On its surface it is a top 5 of all time doom record, but this record is for more than just doom-metal fanatics though. This is an epic record for all fans of guitar driven rock
and roll. On Soma Windhand successfully make syrupy slow, downtuned doom hooky and anthemic. Propelled by singer Dorthia Cottrell's beautifully haunting bellow, Windhand's duel guitar attack sounds like the glorious misfit offspring of Black Sabbath and Nirvana. An easy candidate for heavy music record of the year.

However, we (Demilich+Svart) decided to ask if you'd still want a special edition. The commitment won't be the kind of "you sign and you buy or Igor will chop your fingers off" commitment, but still, if you tell about your will to buy this one, we expect you to buy it. There will be anything from 500 to 1500 copies, but we expect it to be less than 1000.

We don't have facts about how the special edition will differ from the normal LP set. It is.

Hey guys long time no see, I decided I would start collecting Bathory Cd's, been listening to they're stuff online for years and still I've been to lazy to order any of it. That all changes as of this week I ordered two cd's, Twillight of The Gods and Blood,Death,Fire.
