But past this subject, does anybody have some odd/embarrassing gig experiences they'd like to share?
I do have a somewhat embarrassing story. I went to see a show that Black Tusk headlined at the Loft in Poughkeepsie. Thou, MonstrO, and my buddy's band Echo 3(awesome prog rock, I'll post a link if I can find) supported. I had a bit too much to drink and acted kind of dumb when I chatted with Andrew Fidler. I kept asking him about John Baizley (he's done album artwork for Black Tusk). I was like "So, do you ever just hang out with John Baizley? Yeah? That's cool. I love his music and artwork....So, do you ever just hang out with John Baizley? Yeah? That's cool. I love his music and artwork....So, do you ever just hang out with John Baizley?" lol
He was nice about it, though. No funny looks or anything. And he and James and Jon signed a shirt I bought there. I wouldn't have been able to get those autographs if it weren't for Kyle Sanders from MonstrO. He let me borrow his sharpie. MonstrO is an awesome rock band, btw.
I was freakin' smashed. I walked up to a stranger, shook his hand, and said "Wow, I am star struck....Oh, sorry, I thought you were the guy from Mastodon (Brent Hinds)"
Alcohol is a hell of a drug.
The Loft is awesome because the band is like right there when they play and they chill out when they're not playing so you can just go up to them and talk. Also, they have comfy couches and chairs...and a bar.
