Well then I guess I don't know any portuguese bands. I'm sorry for offending you, sir
I guess we portuguese are kind of used to that, americans particularly think we belong to Spain, very sad, Portugal is even older than Spain as a whole country.
You don't even know Moonspell? They're surely the most successful band in Portugal, however only their older albums and the most recent are really worth checking out, because they started as a folk/black metal band but then they moved on to gothic metal which was kind of a shitty period in their career, and finally they went in a not so bad melodic/symphonic black metal direction in their 3 latest albums, however the last album has 2 cd's, Alpha Noir more black metal oriented and Omega White, which goes in a gothic metal and even goth rock direction.
The band I chose for Portugal, Process of Guilt is also one of the best metal acts in this country, they supported A Storm of Light when they played here, really intense Doom/Sludge.
One of my favourite black metal bands is also portuguese, Corpus Christii, they have a very interesting sound with a depressive approach.
Mourning Lenore is also worth checking out, very nice Death/Doom.
And if you're into Industrial Rock, oh boy, Bizarra Locomotiva, the most amazing shit around here.
Omitir, also a very good black metal band from here.
And to support my drummer and because I really like his project, VRT139, Black Metal with Lusitanian themes, because vikings were not the only badasses around, and they never dared to mess with the lusitanians!
