That's not true. :(

Meshuggah's first album is their best by the way.

They play a brand of music that evokes both darkness and light at the same time. It is, in a way, ambitious and daring.

I'll give it a spin.

So I finally got around to downloaded that album by Ensemble Pearl last night.

ya know the band with members of: Sunn O))), Boris, The Sweet Hereafter, Ghost, and whatnot.

Its actually pretty good and recommend it to anyone who listens to any of the bands that contributed to it.
Though I'd say it sounds like Sunn O))) but darker and more ambient.

I've tried to find this record back when I first heard of it, but didn't manage to get my hands on it. I really want to listen to that album sometimes, I think it will be a good experience :)

I can try seeing if I can put it on Mediafire or something and give you a link to it if you want.

Very much agreed. The term I use for all early Meshuggah (including their demos and their s/t EP) is Meshullica, since it sounds like a more technical (and swedish) version of early Metallica.

Thank you! I've seen people compare Witch Ripper to Mastodon so its weird that I didn't recognize it.
It's weird thinking they're at the moment not signed to a label and only have one EP out. They're actually pretty good.

I'll send the PM now.
It has both discs. The first disc is the actual album and the second one is a bonus disc with demos and stuff of songs on the first disc. So no new songs or anything like that.

It is indeed quite amazing, great composition, very emotive, interesting and with some sweet aggressiveness with that Troy Sanders-esque voice. That's what I love about sludge! It reaches beauty among chaotic dirty and nasty brutality. For a rather recent band, it is quite impressive and fresh.

I guess it does sound kinda like the Mastodon guy, but it reminded me more of the guy from Gojira.

I've been lisening to more DragonForce and Lost Horizon lately and I've been looking for somehing with that awesome fanasy vibe.

Labyrinth makes very good progressive power metal. Their album Heaven Denied is the first one you shoud listen to. Otherwise you probably already know of Hammerfall and Rhapsody Of Fire. If you want epic fantasy stuff, these two bands are what you're looking for. Helloween's Keeper of the Seven Keys Part I and Keeper of the Seven Keys Part II are quite epic albums, and I think they are the best stuff this band ever released.

Dude, infamoss I've been playing music for a little over decade (since before I was 10) and Meshuggah's music is (for the most part) in 4/4. If anyone here doesn't know anything about musical composition, its you.
And besides you don't need to be overly fucking "technical" to be a good band. Same with goes with playing fast.
You can be the most technical musician in the world but it still doesn't make your stuff better than everyone else's.

You have no knowledge whatsoever of all the music we discuss in here. You are stuck up on a tiny subgenre that's sitting on the fence and barely even qualifies as metal. You do not even seem to care about trying to do a little digging around to find out where your favorite band comes from and what influences it took from what music.

We have diversified tastes, a good knowledge not only of metal but music in general. You are a jackass. Leave.

Into the Moat
PsyOpus
Andy James
Bulb
Animals As Leaders
Meshuggah

Bulb (Djent)
PsyOpus (Djent, Mathcore)
Into the Moat (Mathcore, Metalcore)
Animals As Leaders (Djent, Prog Metal)
Meshuggah (Early is Post-Thrash, recent is Djent)

Terminally Your Aborted Ghost
Vesania
Children of Bodem

*Bodom

And I'm actually surprised to see symphonic black, brutal death and melodic death metal on your list. As you accused these genres of bein obsoleted and boring. Otherwise, the bands you've listed are mostly not metal bands. And this is where shit starts to get ugly. Cause, understand us well, we do not give a fuck if they are metal or not. We're not saying they are unworthy of existing, but just like we have to tell all the metalcore, deathcore and post-hardcore fans, this isn't called the Metal Hell for no reason. Attack Attack!, Suicide Silence, Whitechapel, Vanna, Alesana, A Day to Remember, Thrice, Escape The Fate, Protest The Hero, Norma Jean, The Chariot, etc. These bands are not metal bands. Kicking and screaming, calling us names and telling us we don't know what true metal is doesn't make a difference.

You want to argue that Bullet For My Valentine has some british heavy metal roots, that's totally fine with me.

Boris, Ulver, Beyond Creation, Apokatastasia, Dark Tranquillity, Accept, Sigh, Anaal Nathrakh, Mastodon, High On Fire, Death, Miserere Luminis, Cynic, ISIS, Children Of Bodom, Warning, Gorguts, Hammers Of Misfortune, Arcturus... those are the kind of bands that we discuss here. And if you think these bands are all shit, than I'm sorry to tell you that you might just not like metal. And that's just fine, but you don't need to call us hipsters for liking bands that you don't.

And yes, that PsyOshit band is Djent, not just purely Djent. It's a bad mix of slam death, pseudo tech deathcore, wankery leads.
