Also, I always see people accusing Malmsteem of being pretentious and full of myself, but I've never really seen him displaying characteristics of either (he tends to drop his jaw while playing, who cares?). Does anyone know of some specific examples where he acted like a dick?
He has a tendency of sounding pompous and arrogant in interviews. I can't cite any specific interviews, but every one I've seen he always sounds like some washed up rockstar drunk on his own ego. He's always been a dick, and honestly that's what I like about his early-mid career stuff; he deserves to be arrogant because he shits over other guitarists. It's just that now that his shtick has gotten old, his confidence comes across as being pretentious and arrogant.
Or as someone pointed out to me, "Being arrogant is fine if you're winning. If you're losing, it just means you're a dick." So whether he comes across as arrogant nowadays depends mostly on whether or not you find his newer material creative or not.

Modesty is so outdated !
I also got myself a new t-shirt :)
I like that heavy metal is a more popular religion than Scientology in the UK. I can restore some faith in this land.

Go to this site to hear a clip from a new Ghost song which I'm guessing it is called Secular Haze. Also, what could the XLVII = 47 mean? 47 days till the new album is released?
We're meat and that's it. So lets fuck it, fuck it, fuck it.

Just did myself the favor of picking up Immortal's "Sons of Northern Darkness" at my local CD shop. I'm up to the track "Tyrants" right now, and I'm enjoying every second of it. This album is fucking awesome.

Go ahead if you want to.
I know I wont post any reviews on there.
Mainly because I am absolutely terrible at reviewing shit xD

All I can say is, HELL YEAH!!! Makes me more glad to be seeing them live in March. The keyboards might sound a little silly and probably came from a ghost train ride at a fairground but it's still fitting for the song. Still looking forward to the new album!
New discoveries:
Tristania (Gothic metal with choirs and alternating clean/dirty vocals)
The Gathering (Death/doom at first, atmospheric space rock later)
Both are pretty damn good and get 4 raised horns out of 5.

I found them rather recently too. Solid bands. I really like Tristania's Beyond the Veil.

Anyone else notice the thing for Secular Haze was taken off of Metal Archives?

Not the first time they go back and forth with deleting shit on there. Time I must have been deleted a few times before they finally agreed that it was indeed coming out.

I enjoyed Time I. Was it mindblowingly awesome? No. Was it as good as their first album? No. But it still a fun listen.

So then it was a good album, but also a let down to anyone who was waiting all that time and expected a mindblowingly epically amazingly awesome album?
Gentlemen. I haven't listened to any metal in at least a week. It's only been Gorillaz and jazz. What do I do?

I posted one for Lacuna Coil's latest. Do try to make it legit, though. No two sentences saying "oh yea i like this album its good". You dig?
Why am I seeing a bunch of comments on Immortal videos that say "black metal sucks but Immortal is awesome"? To me Immortal is some of the purest black metal out there. Is it just the lack of Satan worshipping of Immortal that makes these people think this way?

Actually, I'd say the first two tracks are mindblowingly awesome. The rest, still a fun listen.

I'll admit that I enjoy Immortal a lot more than any other black metal band. It's nothing to do with the lack of Satan worshipping but hell, I'll give them credit for being true black metal without the need to go all out on being Anti-Christian. I just find their music to be more enjoyable than what other black metal bands generally offer to the listeners.
So I just found the band Weedsnake a bit ago...
Really liking what I'm hearing so I feel like sharing em on here.
This is my favorite song off of the album I downloaded off of their bandcamp.

Good...good...let the love of Stoner Metal flow through you....
And listen to Kyuss, Karma To Burn, Fu Manchu (though I consider them "skater metal"....don't ask), and Unida.

I'm a total black metal guy, I listen to all different kinds but Immortal is seriously awesome as well. I realize they have a different kind of feeling to them too, it's more atmospheric and cold rather than brutality/anti-Christianity. I wish there were more like that.
