Wow... also thanks for not posting the picture in here. Damn ! Even if I was a fan I think I couldn't get over the cover to buy it...

Talking about succesful marketing... this t-shirt was already sold 432 times by this seller on ebay. I'm pretty sure standard Black Sabbath albums do not sell as much.

This is the one thing that got me about Black Sabbath. They haven't had many inspiring album covers so what is there to have on a T-Shirt? At least with Iron Maiden they've provided a great range of T-Shirt designs. Black Sabbath on the other hand.... Uhhh.

Well....I wouldn't mind having a T-shirt of Master Of Reality or Volume 4....
Though I will agree about the lack of "inspiring album covers".

Yeah, I could probably go for Master of Reality myself but even then, you look at any other good album artwork you could have on a T-Shirt and then realise there's just so much better to have. Well, self-titled artwork would be fine on a T-Shirt but yeah, so little options for them.

This is a good review and I get what you mean. The admins and mods tend sometimes to support or reject one point of view or the other. But MA still often respects reviews that goes against the flow. Just look at the other reviews for the album Forest Poetry. Even if black metal kiddos with no kind of critical mind would give a blowjob to this kind of album if it had a dick, they still allow people with opposing views to express them.

I dunno I just like the solid black with the text on it opposed to the white with black sleeves.

Yes, I checked them out a few days ago because I liked the name but they're actually really good, they play thrash/hardcore.

Accidently clicked the C&C's link on my toolbar, saw this thread right up top, felt obliged to post.

How are we all? I miss you guys.

If I'm honestly I've completely neglected Metal since I last posted here. My interest in Sigur Rós and Imogen Heap took me in a completely different direction. I occasionally listen to the odd Devin song, or Dream Theater, or Megadeth, and remember why I loved this style, but it's few and far between these days.

I've seen Ghoul and Sense on this page as I was scrolling down... so many memories :'(.

It's not been that long. My last post here was probably 09ish.

I went to Download this year and finally saw Devin live. The guy is great, and it's been long coming. During the set he shouted out "we fucking love what we do for a living" and I thought that was such a cool sentiment. No one ever says things like that during gigs.

I'm not a fan of that festival any more though. When you've got The Prodigy and Chase & Status as headliners you know you've betrayed your roots (Devin clashed with these, so I went nowhere near them). I think DT and Metallica were the only things I enjoyed that weekend.

Oh, and Megadeth. Second time I saw them and they were so much better than the first time. They had a longer set, and were higher up the bill, deservedly so, obviously. I was so happy they weren't always crap live. Maybe Metallica being on the next day made them raise their game.

My music listening in general has declined. My interest in football (soccer for you Americans) grew again and I started listening to podcasts more. That eats into a lot of the time I'd spend listening to music, and I've had a job (finally) for the last few months so there is even less time.

Finishing uni and riding on the bus less cut down on it as well. There used to be nothing better than getting on a bus and shoving some Dystopia in my ears and remembering how much you disliked the general public.

The last show I went to was exactly a year ago, last November. Black Tusk was the headliner and Thou and Monstr0 played. They were all awesome. All the guys from Black Tusk signed my shirt. I also got to chat with Andrew Fidler from Black Tusk.

Have you heard of them, Nev? They're really good sludge metal. You might like them.

Nope. You have to bare in mind all the stuff I listened to I was introduced to in this thread. It's great it's still going. I suppose it's no secret that Newgrounds is a big site on the webs, but I'm a bit shocked to see you and Bahamut, etc still around. I'm going to check those two out, for old times sake.

Was meant to comment on this part. I can understand you here. At times I feel like I've burned out on metal so there are those moments where I'll just throw on a bunch of video games music and prog rock to make me feel fresh. Also, if your life does get caught up on other things, then yeah, that's also acceptable. Generally on Wednesdays and Saturdays for me I don't have a lot of free time at home and spend the time with friends instead which is a good thing for social purposes.

For internet standards, 2009 feels like ages ago. You did post here a bit last year but it does feel like a long time.

The site's still trucking but I have to feel that the site's impact on the internet isn't as huge as it used to be. Technology has evolved too fast for a small staff team as NG have. Still, I've done what I can to keep coming here after all these years so unless my life is occupied even more by the real world which could be whenever, I'll spend some of my free time of my whole day here.

Well, some of Cannibal Corpse's covers actually have some kind of appeal. You can have an horror/gore theme and still have a nice cover. I kind of like the Tomb of the Mutilated cover. Eaten Back to Life also has that goofy Evil Dead kind of horror look that makes it cool.

I just went from one end of the spectrum to the other. I always loved music that had crescendos and was dynamically interesting more than anything, but it's just a case of going from distorted Metal stuff to softer, lovelier sounding things. I suppose Post-Rock is my thing nowadays, and "Alternative" stuff (such a shit name for a genre) like Bat for Lashes, newer Raidohead.

Gigs are too sweaty and short lived for me. I love spending a weekend away from civilisation surrounded by friends and music/comedy/art/partying. Beats spending two and a half hours getting home from Manchester after each gig. I see them as mini-holidays more than anything.

Have you been to any? I remember you've had that attitude for a while, just wondering if you ever bobbed alone to Download, or Bloodstock or whatever?

Can somebody explain me why Metal Archives accepts incoherent reviews like this ? I'm not talking about the fact that this guy seems to love St.Anger, but rather that he describes this albums as a "flawed masterpeice" and still give it a 100% rating. I call this score boosting. The guy was probably unhappy with the average score of the album and thought it would be cool to pull it up with an innacurate score.

Conveniently enough, I like Eaten Back to Life more than their other records. The first two songs alone make it worth it for me. I still wonder why this isn't part of my collection when it at least deserves to be there.

The white on the other one just makes it stick out like a sore thumb. The black T-Shirt and the Master of Reality logo is one of the coolest things you can possibly have.

You're from Blackpool, aren't you? Surely there's a convenient train that goes directly to Manchester from there.

As a matter of fact, I wouldn't have minded going to Bloodstock last year. The line-up then was really good but my sister was low on funds so we had to miss out on it. It's funny to say that now since she's the one with the job and I'm the one with low income.

Yeah, MA are actually fine with having Rush and Budgie on there. They do have their grand moments of metal which is something no metal fan can deny. My very first exposure to Rush was 2112 so you can imagine how amazed I was when I got to hear it.

Oh there is. It goes through Oxford and Piccadilly so it's not a difficult trip. But it's about an hour and a half and I live in the countryside outside Blackpool, and getting home from the train station would be a nightmare without a lift.
