I meant the track. Can't stand any of their full lenghts as a whole. Cemeteray Gates is another good track.
Sup dudes. Was off the internet for a bit while I waited for my new wireless adapter to arrive (the old one malfunctioned). Went to Game 1 of the world series, had a blast.
In metal news, has anyone heard of Royal Hunt? I've been listening to them. They kick ass.A song off of one of their best albums.

ooh! Please share! KC is my favorite band. I'm obsessed with them.
Coroner (one of the best thrash bands ever) did a decent cover of One More Red Nightmare (which is one of my favorite Crimson songs).

yep. I used to listen to them when I was a huge powerfag. I haven't heard their stuff in a long time, though. There's a lot of bands from around that time (when I was about 16-17) that I've kinda forgotten. I'd check out the track, but I'm listening to some King Crimson right now.

You were showing me them last night. I do like and would like to find more good European power metal as I feel I've already covered all the best stuff. I need to be wrong here. I think when it comes to exploring underground music, I have the best luck with doom metal.

thanks. I'll listen later.
now excuse me while I search for a cover of great deceiver.
That would be awesome. I love that song.

Well, they're not from Europe, but Zandelle and Hibria are both pretty good. I think you know Heavenly already, but if not, they're a good European pm band. Have you heard of Masterplan? I haven't listened to them, but they have/have had several prominent musicians such as Uli Kusch, Mike Terrana, Roland Grapow, and Jorn Lande.

I think it's avant-garde/experimental for me.

Masterplan suck ass. I know they should be good, considering the lineup, but they sound like lame radio rock to me. And I have a high tolerance for sappy, poppy music. And they still sound like Sugar Ray or some stupid shit like that. They have a few good songs, thanks to Grapow and Terrana, but goddamn for the most part they suck hard.

Ditto here, if you include electronic influenced metal in that category.

To tell you the truth, I haven't even properly checked out Heavenly all this time. I know, that is bad of myself but on the bright side, I can shove it in front of my own face by putting some of their stuff on my Christmas wishlist.

I love Helloween a lot and even I think Masterplan are lacking. While I can enjoy Mk II, there's something just not right about the first two when I tried listening to them. Then again, unless it's Gamma Ray I shouldn't be thinking of Helloween-related bands too much.

You guys have always listened to my music, I really like this last song I did. I know how you feel. It's like some post-rock something experiment.
Do any of you have Facebook? Ghoul, Sense?
Apparently Graveyard have a brand new album Lights Out, will have to check that out. Anyone listening to any cool new psych/stoner?

I have plenty of times. I feel a bit miffed knowing the album only feels like 2-3 songs but on the other hand, it was that or wait another 5 years or something silly like that.

How is it? I saw it for sale and I was wondering if it is worth it. I have seen a lot of mixed reviews about it.

This.

Not yet. Don't know why I haven't though. Maybe I was really excited back when it was announced to be released in 2008, but lost interest throughout all the delay they had for the album. I will definitely ear it someday though. It's just a matter of time. (lawl)

Another issue of it is very little of solos. You'd think when considering what made the self-titled record good, they would at least throw a fair amount of solos in this album as well. Supposedly part 2 has more of it but the first part only leaves you wanting more. Despite that, the intro track is divine and Sons of Winter and Stars is a grand song.

Listening to Hell for Halloween. Definitely a good choice of a band to listen to on this night. Hardly had any time for my music today but at least the real life kept me well occupied.
On another note, really Voivod? You approve an album artwork this bad? It's an eyesore as a whole and it's sickening how a lazy effect like gradients were used here. That's the kind of shit an amateur at Flash would do.

The hell? It looks like it was drawn by a 10 year old o.O
I seriously had to double check to be sure that wasn't a joke.
On a side note Black Sabbath have announced their new album is supposed to be released sometime next April.
Not entirely sure if I'm still on board with this album minus Bill Ward since it was supposed to be an original line-up Sabbath album with him, Ozzy, Tony, and Geezer. But it's new Black Sabbath so I can't really complain....

I'm always afraid when old bands talk about making a new album. Odds are that it's most likely going to be shit. History as proven me right countless times...
Totally just found Weird Light today while listening to random Doom Metal on Youtube.

Yeah you're more than likely right about that. But I still am interested in hearing it even if it turns out to be awful.
I mean I'll try to listen to it before I decide if I want to go out and buy it or not. I dont want to go and get an album and only listen to it like once or twice or something....

It's kinda like how Yngwie Malmsteen made Unleash the Fury, with a cover that looked like it was made by an amateur in ms paint, or Manowar's The Lord of Steel, which, again, was made with cheap gradients and effects. I know it's just an album cover, but sometimes that reflects the music. When some, but a very minimal amount of, effort is expended on the album cover, it seems to be a symbol for the music: phoned in, lazy, and rushed. In the case of Unleash the Fury and Lord of Steel, it proved quite symbolic. Both albums were formulaic, phoned in, and mediocre. Perhaps this will prove to be the case with Voivod.
