Hey guys, I'd like us to all make a list of a few bands we consider to be underground and very good. And by underground, I do not mean music that isn't pop. I mean some stuff that is rather unknown even to other metalheads.

I have two bands that I can think of right now that makes very good and rather underground music.

The first is Leeches Of Lore. This is a band from New Mexico that plays a unique and inspired brand of heavy metal, mixed with thrash elements and some spaghetti western music style. I can't talk for all their albums since I'm still discovering their music. But the album Frenzy, Ecstasy is a gem. It's a masterpiece like none you've ever heard before. It's very hard to find online (imo), but I can share it with anybody who would like to hear it.

The second is Balrog, a black metal band from France. They play a very agressive, raw and brutal form of black metal. Their music is evil, obscure and will sadisticaly rape your ears with raw and somewhat thrashy black metal. The album Ars Talionis - The Art of Retaliation is the only one I know so far. It's a great record, and I can also share this one with you guys if you can't find it on your own.

Thanks in advance for sharing bands with us :)

I don't listen to much stuff from Russia...which is weird since I listen to stuff from The Ukraine and thats like right next to Russia

Eh, I can dig Reasons to Live but that's about it from Ultra Beatdown. As for Inhuman Rampage, despite how overplayed it became, I still have a soft spot for Through the Fire and Flames.

I've known about Balrog for years. Great band with artillery-like drums. Bestial Satanic Terror is a better album, though, IMO.

Was they're other stuff worth a damn? I listened to Inhuman Rampage and it all sounded the same.

This is not normally something I ask for but I'm wanting to hear something differnt.
If you don't mind Id like a list of power metal or whatever bands.
Something that like totally out of this world epic fantasy, dragons flying war waging metal.
That sounds interesting now. Something that when you listen you fly off in another world kind of stuff.
So anyone who is willing to give me a list will be much appericated.

There's a really good series of videos on Youtube for finding new Power Metal.

I never figured you as much of a Power Metal fan. Why the sudden interest?

Not sure if you can get any better than Slough Feg's Traveller if you want "fly off in another world". More on sci-fi than fantasy but still really good.

The album Return To Heaven Denied by Labyrinth is one of my all time favorites. I'm not huge on Power Metal usually, but this band manages to be progressive enough, creative enough and memorable enough for me to enjoy their stuff.

Labyrinth - Heaven Denied

Another good (and epic) album I would recommend is Crimson Thunder by Hammerfall. It might just be what you are looking for. When it comes to epic power metal, Hammerfall are a good match for DragonForce, Rhapsody of Fire, and Helloween.

Hammerfall - Hero's Return

It marks the return of a great musician in the band. Maybe that was a sign !

I ain't a new interest for him. I remember him showing me new power metal stuff 4 or 5 years ago. He got me into Heavenly.

I certainly feel at home when hearing such bands.

Hammerfall - Hero's Return

Good choice. Crimson Thunder is hit and miss but it does have some really good stuff so it shouldn't be ignored. The only HammerFall album you should avoid is Infected. I guess the band realised how bad it was if they needed to take a break. from it.

Seeing as a few have done well with discoveries lately, I have to add something as well. Been listening to Threshold's new album and while I've never listened to them before, I am liking what I'm hearing. Vocals make me think of Yes so a prog rock feel like that is welcomed.

just got back from Accept and Kreator. My ears hurt. And Accept are fucking hilarious and awesome. It's a bunch of old ass german fucks who don't care about anything up on stage cheesin' like fuck. And the drummer looks like a fatter version of Arnold Schwarzenegger wearing a tanktop and short shorts. Lolz.

Kreator were good, but I liked Accept better. I love german power metal.
