And people like me who are just naturally calm and mellow all the time, and who don't smoke pot or do any drugs other than caffeine. Mmmm caffeine :3

Hmm...I consider ordering one...but at that moment im trying to decide whether or not I want to buy a copy of Legalize Drugs & Murder or an album by Electric Wizard. Mostly because im lacking in physical copies of their stuff (I ONLY have Black Masses). The reason i was considering Legalize Drugs & Murder is because I like the songs on it and I love vinyl...
You've still never heard the KC stuff with Adrian Belew, Bahamut? Discipline, Thrak, and the Power to Believe are all great. Three of a Perfect pair has its title track that's fantastic, though the rest of that album is forgettable, as is Beat.

You have two bands there that count, which are Metallica and Slayer. Could you give us some more, please?

You seem to have the right idea. Keep in mind that a good chunk of the -core bands aren't really recognized here. I did see Iron Maiden on friday though. They kicked ass.
I remember drumming to Dethklok years ago. That was fun stuff, but I just kind of gradually stopped listening to them as I got more "into" metal. They're the only "joke band" I've heard actually, other than The Black Satans.
Unrelated, I want to hear the new Facebreaker EP (perhaps a joke band themselves?! 666 copies?! Ooh!), but I'm not oldschool enough for vinyl. Hopefully someone uploads it to Youtube or something.
I thought i would share this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8rcWo_ghloE

Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, Anthrax. We got the big four of thrash metal right here. Might be a good time to get our thrash metal big guns out !
I highly recommand you Sodom, Kreator and a good mix of Thrash Metal and Melodic Death Metal... Darkane. Since you seem to like a few modern metalcore band, I think you might like Darkane. They have a very modern melodic death feel to their music, and they throw a few good elements of Thrash Metal in there.
i am in , too. would like to find some good music and also friends

Guys, check it, it's Nile before Nile!
I need to get back into metal man. I haven't done proper legwork in months, and school is almost arrived. Looks like I'll be binging for a day or two, so I'll try to find some gems to share with you guys.

I'm no death metal expert so what I say probably should be taken with a grain of salt. I at least find amusement from their songs but the show itself is indeed better. Nothing beats Dr. Rockso.

There are times on the show where I wish that Brendan Smalls had "gone for it" more. Judging as actual music, not joke music (the musicians involved are all highly skilled), it just seems like it's TOO generic, even for being a joke band, and Smalls seems to be deathly afraid of experimenting. This is a shame, because experimentation is one of the pillars of joke bands -- after all, what is crotchduster?
Maybe I'm overintellectualizing it, but I rarely watch the final couple minutes of the show where they're playing the song du jour unless something important is happening (usually involving Dr. Rockso) and even then I find the songs boring. (One good example is the bluesklok episode -- the song, murdertrain a' comin', was a snoozefest). I hope the third dethalbum is more cogent and entertaining, but I'm not holding my breath.
Still though, nothing beats a guy who does cocaine.

This is why I put joke/fun music separate to the rest of metal. Some of these are certainly aren't the top of the range of metal but they have different intentions. Dethklok's music I still find fun to listen to. Well, I only have the first album but I'm happy enough with it despite the version I have lacking Duncan Hills Coffee Jingle.

That reminds me, I STILL need to pick up season 3.

Crotchduster and Ultra Vomit both have quality song-writting, that's why we criticize Dethklok's music. Of course they have different intentions, but humoristic or not, different bands from different genres all have different intentions. Why is it okay for Dethklok and not for "regular bands" than ?

Hell yeah! Gotta love good ole Dethklok. So still no real news on release?
Hello everyone, I'm back lol

Find a band havent heard of and they're pretty heavy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IbjSgbyoS-c&feature=related
So, Testament's new album.
I've only listened to a couple of songs so far, but the production is really putting me off. It's just too crisp and clean, you know?

I hate it when that happens. A lot of potentially good albums are ruined by a flat or overly clean production.

I never got into any of Testament's stuff. Is it worth it?

Same here. I listened to some of there older stuff and thought it was alright.
Been wondering about the new one, they've been advertising like crazy.
Speaking of new stuff any good new stuff come out? I've been out of the loop for quite some time.
I heard Necrophagist had something new coming was that rumor or truth?

I actually dig the album. I can see where you are coming from about the production, but the songwriting is really solid and the guitar parts are awesome. I give it a solid 4/5. Maybe listen to it a little more, maybe the production will stop bothering you.
Proud Demon residing in the METAL HELL!
Lay down your soul for the god's rock n' roll!
I dunno what's wrong with me but I was never all that big on Testament. I've listened to the new album and it's alright but something about their music doesn't get me pumped like other thrash metal bands can do to me, particularly Overkill.

I actually wonder what you think of most Manilla Road albums. The band have been notorious for sound productions for their albums that have not been considered so good but I took them as giving different feels to their works. They could replicate the overly clean production that you'll hear from many bands right now but the different direction they take with their albums makes them stand out from most metal bands.

So far i only have two Amon Amarth albums.
When it comes to Melodic Death Metal, I think Nightrage and Kalmah are some of the best bands ever. I know a lot of people in the Metal Hell also like Insomnium, which is definitely a great band.
If you like the feel of Amon Amarth, maybe you'd like Ensiferum and Wintersun. Both have a little of that "folkish viking" style. Well... Ensiferum does, but Wintersun is the project of Ensiferum's former vocalist, so I thought I'd recommand them two.

The Gathering is a pretty solid album imo, especially the drums and the production. I don't much like any of their other albums though; their latest gave me this awful "AMERICA FUCK YEA" vibe.
I did used to enjoy listening to The Formation of Damnation while playing GTA though.
