All the Death albums are great, but ultimately ITP is easily my favorite and Symbolic + TSoP are easily my least favorite. :)
Anywho, I saw Rhapsody of Fire and Voyager on Sunday! And all I have to tell you is... A FUCKING MAZING.
That is all.
So after reminiscing about an acid trip I had a couple weeks ago, I have this to say:
Images and Words by Dream Theater is fucking awesome, especially on acid. Listening to that on acid whilst staring at the spiraling starry nightsky is what I call completely fucking content.
That is all.

Lawl. But yeah, it's perfect for acid. I had such a good trip listening to dream theater and aborym as well as my friend who's a classical pianist.
Well, it looks like Time is actually going to drop this year, with another album next year. Does two albums within a year help make up for the wait?

We'll see about that. Even with more news, I have to laugh at the thought of the album supposedly coming out. However, it would brighten up 2012 A LOT!
There's going to be a new Electric Wizard album? I didn't know about this. It's still not on Needlebase.
At 5/26/12 02:20 PM, HeavenDuff wrote: I've read a lot of bad things about Scream Bloody Gore.
really? It's considered a major classic in death metal, and rightly so. It's awesome. You can't go wrong with Deah, really. They've never had even a mediocre album.
I might get SBG later. Except if Dalnaki drops by and convince me once again that it sucks monkey balls and that I should stay away from it :P (kiddin').
Actually, I believe he prefers that and Spiritual Healing over the rest. Maybe I'm wrong.

wow, sick. adding to the list.

new Ihsahn
new Melvins
new Baroness
new Gojira
new Voivod
new Ephel Duath

Yes. I was wrong. If now I'm right, he said that only Scream Bloody Gore was good. This or both SBG and Spiritual Healing.

If the 2 albums are as epic as the first there will be worth the wait.

That's a great track. If you liked that song as much as I do, then I'd get the Sound of Perseverance. Really, I love Human, Symbolic, Individual Thought Patterns, and the Sound of Perseverance pretty much equally. Although, Chuck's vocals sound particularly sick on the Sound of Perseverance. I love all of their albums. Scream Bloody Gore, Leprosy, and Spiritual Healing are all very good as well.

Kverlertak is a gem. I really hope these guys can release another great album. The first one was so amazing, I'd be impressed if they'd release something as huge !
I'm really starting to miss a band that disbanded last year. Mostly because they (if they kept to their schedule) should have released an album this year. Anyone else miss God Dethroned? I find them to be one of the best (and most consistent) death metal bands to come out. I don't think they ever released a bad album. The Toxic Touch and Lair of the White Worm were disappointing because everything else kicked ass, but they still had some very good tracks.

I only knew he liked SBG and not the rest.

That will be a good way to listen to the rest of The Sound of Perseverance and then proceed to Symbolic. After those two, I would recommend Individual Thought Patterns. Now that's an album that can last you a long time.

i can totally agree with that. i thoroughly enjoyed Kvelertak
and i can't wait to see if they can release something as good or better than that!

Individual Thought Patterns is, IMO, their best album. The Sound of Perseverance is a close second though.
So start with those two, no doubt.
you should really try sabaton if it hasn't been mentioned it's really one of the greatest
by all means... ask

This is one band I've wanted to enjoy but never could. I've been hearing a lot of good things about the new album, though so I'll give it a chance and see if they can convince me to become a fan.

Haven any of you guys listened to the band Lost Horizon? I'm really digging them at the moment. It is just so over the top and bombastic that I can't help but listen to it.

So, as some of you guys may know I've been listenning to a Progressive Sludge Metal/Hardcore band named The Ocean for a little bit now. Usually I go through phases when I listen to music. So a little while back I would listen only to Contemporary Classical music like Morton Feldman or Max Richter and Post-Rock like Godspeed You! Black Emperor or Ambient music or lenghty Drone Doom like Boris and Sunn O))).
I'm in another phase now. Today, I want to listen to Progressive Sludge Metal. Heavy stuff that hits hard, but with a nice progressive feel and riffs. So bands like The Ocean, Mastodon and ISIS are exactly what I'm looking for. Which reminds me that AniMetal kept comparing The Ocean to Mastodon to say they were a lousy Mastodon worship band. I have to say now that I know The Ocean more, that they sound far more like ISIS then they sound like Mastodon. Anyway, they are all part of a similar genre, so I enjoy them a lot. Anyway, if you guys don't know them, check them out... especially if you like the other two.
And also, if you guys know more bands of the genre, it would be appreciated if you could share it with me :)

Nathaniel Larochette from Musk Ox recommanded this band to me back when I met him at Cynic's show. I should definitely check them out sometime :)

lol
I only know that song because a friend of mine loves it. He has it on his droid and keeps plugging it into my speaker to play it.
Also, I don't know about progressive sludge, but I listen to a lot of sludge. How about Zebulon Pike? You'd like them. good instrumental sludge metal.
Ihsahn - on the Shores
so...theres a band thats looking for a guitarist nearish to here and they're a Doom Metal band ._.
im considering calling them up and seeing if i can jam with them or something but i dont know...
