I dislike metal but this is one of the few metal songs I actually enjoy. Thought I should share it with you all!

Never really got anywhere apart from War and Pain and the music video for Ravenous Medicine. That shit is still fucking hilarious.
If you want to get into Voivod, I suggest checking out Nothingface or Dimension Hatross. Both of them are some of my favorite thrash albums of all time (even though Nothingface is more prog than thrash).

There's NOTHING, I repeat NOTHING, thrash about Dimension Hatross and Nothingface. If you think there's thrash in those albums, you probably also think Rush is thrashie.
That being said, all of the first seven Voivod albums are masterpieces and I can't wait to see them for a second time in the summer. :)
I'm fucking jealous of you, Ghoul. I was supposed to see Symphony X and Iced Earth in NYC, but I screwed up and didn't put together a good plan on getting there.

Just because it has a guitar sound doesn't mean it's metal.

I'm not much into Meshuggah, but I'm jealous that you get to see Baroness. That's one of my favorite bands ever.

I've never gotten into Voivod, for some reason. What album would y'all recommend?
Also, here are three of my new demos. One (In Gloria Sathana) is black metal, one is experimental avante-garde (DreamFallen) and another is my new one, Graveyard Metal, which I posted about 5 pages ago, and again in cased y'all missed it: http://www.filehosting.org/file/details/341476/Psycryptik_--

If anyone's a veteran at MA plz add Psycryptik if you would. I can supply a picture if needed, as well as lyrics etc...
As well, I'm going into the studio next month to record my next demo, which shall be called Infected Nuclear Romance

I also saw JP last year, but didn't get any pictures. :(

I have War and Pain, Rrröööaaarrr (that is, Rrroooaaarrr, in case NG fucks up the o's with umlauts), and Nothingface, which are all good. I'd say you should start with Nothingface. It's a classic.

Thanks, I'll start there.
Also, for those who like neoclassical, Time Requiem are worth a listen. IMO their debut is their best, but that's just opinion.

Probably not a metal band by the standards of the club since they are a combination of metal, rap, pop, and punk. I like them though, especially the album Buiiki Kaesu.

If it's metal, it's really straddling the borderline into hard rock and pop rock. I'll give them props for not sounding like krap or limp dickzit when they blended rap and hard rock elements, but unfortunately not to my liking. Maybe others here will like them, who knows.

I actually still kinda like Follow the Reader and parts of Issues. I don't listen to the stuff often, though, cuz I'm not all that into it.

I am listening to Nothingface right now. It's amazing, possessing depth and originality usually not found in more well known american metal.
Also, did you download my demos?

Yes, and it was incredibly akin to my tastes. I like the guitar sound of The Old Chamber.
I dunno, this music has kind of a medieval feel to it, and not in the folkish way, but more in a black death or 100 years war kind of way. Crushingly hopeless, dark, disgusting, and germanic.

I truly cannot think of any German black metal band that I enjoy more than Klabautamann. I have Bruce to thank for that. Speaking of which, he hasn't been around since your return. Surely, you remember him, yes? He's one of the oldest members here.
Anyway, have you heard the album, Merkur? It's so freaking awesome.

AllMightyBruce? How could I forget him? He was one of my best friends. There were a few others, but their names have faded into the mists of time.

By Klabautamann? I only have The Old Chamber.
Fukken listen to my demos (preferably the new one)

Honestly, I wouldn't even call the 4th-7th Voivod albums metal. Let alone thrash metal.
It's total prog rock with clear psychedelic influences, nothing metal about them besides the guitar solos and their hairdues...
The third Voivod album, Killing Technology, is great if you want to look into thrash metal Voivod - as are their first two, but they're not as easy to get into.
The fourth and fifth Voivod albums are great if you like prog rock or drugs, as they're very awesome for those things.
The sixth and seventh albums are psychedelic rock like the two before it, but much less technical and slightly simpler than the previous two.
After the seventh Voivod album, there's nothing much to them unless you're a dieheart Voivod fan. A few good songs here or there, but no solidly memorable or good album specifically per say. All in my opinion, of course.
When it comes to Voivod, I just can't stop listening to Nuclear War. Now that's a metal song feeling like a machine gun is fired recklessly. I do like the Nothingface song and can feel a stronger prog feel to it than thrash metal. Maybe War and Pain isn't the gateway Voivod album, it's probably the first one I'll pick up.

So the album Precambrian by The Ocean, I ordered a few weeks ago has arrived in the mailbox just the other day and I've given the first tracks a listen. So far I find AniMetal's critic to be innacurate. I don't see how they are a Mastodon worship band for they are actually less progressive and far more agressive than them. Similarities between both bands are limited to what similarities we usually find between bands of the same musical genre. Their most progressive tracks might be a little more like Mastodon, but yet again that doesn't make them Mastodon clones.
I'm liking their music so far. My favorite track after just a short listen is Rhyacian/Untimely Meditations. I'd like to have the opinions of everybody in here on their work. Especially Sense, Bahamut, Ghoul, Zodir, Tobi, AniMetal (even though I know you don't like them that much) and anybody else who like Sludge Metal, Prog, Hardcore and whatever.

I'm not finding it to be as bad as AniMetal makes it out to be but I can't say I'm a huge fan of it. It's just something that's going to slide for me.

The Ocean are a lot worse live than on recording. On recording their mih, both times I saw them live I felt they were terrible.
So there's four concerts this upcoming weekend:
Thurs - Destruction / Vital Remains
Fri - Protomen / Powerglove
Sat - Mygaysugar / Baroness / Decapitated
Sun - Ulcerate / Tombs
Sadly... Ulcerate is 21+, I already made plans for saturday and I have no ride to Destruction. So I only get to see Powerglove. SAD. :(
Especially Sense, Bahamut, Ghoul, Zodir, Tobi, AniMetal
I don't think you want my opinion on them. Hardcore/metalcore/anything close to that is really not my cup of tea. I try to keep my mouth shut about said bands so no one gets butthurt, but it's really not my thing.
