Thanks :) Well, as far as I can say it now, the songs are thrashier and i also included doom elements.

My new album has a much heavier production than my last, with the drums posessing this thump in your ears, and the bass is a lot more prominent. It's like BOOM! And because of that, the more tense parts of the music have a lot more destitute feel, and the more paranoid and skurry parts are even weirder.

And to setsuna, that doesn't appear credible.
It's a hoax. And it's quite old too. I remember hearing of that a while ago.

I thought so as well ;D

Even funnier that it was getting screened at a local death metal gig whilst Grotesque were playing and the only reason I was sitting down watching the big screen was because I threw my back out during Dyscord.

Exactly. Personally, I like Varg's music, but I think the "legend" status is undeserved. There are others in the BM scene who did much more and got much less recognition; it's because he MURDERED another legend, Euronymous, that he got famous.

Well, I think the attributing any person in the BM scene a 'legend' is stupid in general. I mean that's the kind of thing that black metal is supposed to be against. Also, it's unfortunate that most of the attention surrounding Burzum and the scene in general is about the sensational murders and church burning etc. Burzum truly is incredible music that transcends the plastic it's printed on. Fuck wearing Mayhem or Slipknot t-shirts to look 'anti' or 'hardcore', like most kiddies do. That's why I keep my interest in BM to myself for the most part.

Nor did I ever attribute BM to Euro. I just think he was an important figger in developin it.

Bullshit. Burzum is NOT that great. It's good, but Mayhem and Emperor and Immortal and Nargaroth are so much better.

Fuck wearing Mayhem or Slipknot t-shirts to look 'anti' or 'hardcore', like most kiddies do. That's why I keep my interest in BM to myself for the most part.

Don't even put Mayhem and Slipknot in the same category. I don't wear band clothing anyway; I wear old blank hooded sweatshirts and old ripped jeans.

I wasn't talking about you Ghoul. I purposely used Slipknot as an example because frequently people bring up the subject of Mayhem's history rather than the music on forums (yes, I've seen this on NG) the same way that Slipknot is conveyed on TV and other media, as if it were a fashion statement. Hopefully I worded that properly, I'm not exactly sure how to explain what I mean but that should make sense.

Anyway it's not worth arguing about these things right now, sorry I brought it up.

Sounds like mine :P The production is definitely heavier and on about half of the songs I have my guitar tuned down to B(mostly the doomier songs)

I use my bari guitar (the one which is shaped like flames) for the entire album. The bass DEFINITELY gets more attention on this album, and the guitar is a lot smoother and silkier than the last release. The only thing is that the riffs are buried in the "haze" of guitars. I don't know what to call it, but throughout the album (when there are distorted guitars) there's this "haze" of guitar noise, and riffs barely peaking there head through. The whole album is doomy. The clean parts have a post-apocolyptic feel to them, it's all great.

Hey 'bout Euronymous, considering every metalhead that respects himself knows his name, he is not dead.
And about the legend status, I dont mean he is great or a father to BM, he is just bloody known and there are tones of rumours and stuff 'bout him.
Undeserved or not (probably undeserved though), he is what we would call an undergrounds celebrity. Face it, even BM involved things can get damn famous sometimes.
And about the t-shirt things, when I see a kid with a Slipknot tee shirt, I dont care who it is, I wanna punch the kid.
My Emperor tee shirt I dont go around shove it in front of people's faces. I wear it under my clothes and if I am hot, I might leave only the tee on me. Otherwise I dont show of dedicatio to a certain band. Except maybe the Greek BM bands, but thats a different matter.

Oups, that my post makes sense... :The legend status thing is about Varg not 'Euronymous the famous dead meat'.

Considering I haven't posted in Metal Hell for a long while, despite being one of the 'Original' members if I'm still classed as that, I've decided to jump into this BM discussion. Varg doesn't deserve to be called a legend because he never really did 'anything' for the scene except make music. He didn't open a music store, or put bands up with multiple labels, or bother to reach new audiances to spread the word. Most of his good stuff was in just plain making music. It's like saying that my local band 'Silent Descent' (They went to the same school as me) , because they make better music than 99% of the shite on UK charts are legends of the Death Metal scene, despite the fact they've done nothing to actually push the scene forwards by aiding other bands. Varg never really did any of the stuff Euronymous ever did, considering Euro started up lables, helped the 'Inner Circle' out, actually was the reason Burzum got off the ground in the first place by putting it on his label, and generally pushed the whole scene forward. That, coupled with good music, makes him a legend. Varg is just a decent musician, nothing more in the scene.

Makes sense... Varg is very full of himself, so if you don't watch out, you will think he is a lot more legendary than he is reading his interviews.

Personally, I don't worship any band, excepting my own one man band. And though I will support other bands, I won't go out wearing their tee shirts and hoodies and whatnot and I most certainly won'[t go out and ask for their music to be played on the radio. Even Mayhem and Borknagar and Aborym, who I <3 dearly are not exempt from this.

I never said he DESERVES being so famous. I dont even like Burzum (just a slight little bit). And I pretty much dont like him, mainly coz of his views on music and WOMEN, Screw him. I just said he's managed to become legendary. Like him or not, he has, >_<
My idols...? An all female NSBM band, from Greece, called Astarte.... Gods I LOVE THEM. They are grimmer and frostier and more brutal than half the Scandimavian scene, believe it or not.

Well, then, Lykaki, though I actually do like Burzum's music, you *might* not like mine, seeing as Burzum is a big influence in my music, along with Meshuggah and Nargaroth and Mayhem and Gorgoroth.

Hmm can you explain exactly what you mean by that? Read the two recent interviews on burzum.org (from the past year or so), use 'women' as a keyword to search through the texts. I think he's quite right in what he is saying.

Unless you prefer to think of females as useless sexual objects or something *shrug*

Astarte? NSBM? Seriously? I know lyrics written by them and I have never seen any NS tendencies. They are pretty good, though.

Most likely I'll purchase Aborym- Kali Yuga Bizarre or Without Human Intervention, some sort of Ulver, and Vintersorg- Odenmarkens Son.

I totally do not understand this 'don't wear a band t-shirt' mentallity.

If you support a band/bands, it's nice to show your colours. Get other people interested. Let other metalheads know where you stand.

I love getting a new shirt or two, then adding it to my collection and standing back to admire my work.
