I hate that feeling when I'm looking for new albums and I find an album that totally should have belonged in my Top 10 of the year. I just encountered that when I found Torchbearer's Death Meditations. It is a phenomenal melodeath album with some cool thrash elements. I suggest everyone check these guys out!

So my car is dead, I feel like shit...

But, thanks Bahamut for recommanding Master Of Reality by Black Sabbath. I'm really enjoying it so far :) Listenning to the whole thing also reminded me about that stupid post WallOfYawn did in the Stoner Club. I can't believe the kid won't understand that these guys have created a whole new musical genre. Listenning to an album like Master Of Reality, which was released in 1971, really made me and my girlfriend think about stuff like Electric Wizard and Bongripper. Yup, Doom Metal is a legitimate musical genre, and it was since day one!

His reasoning for stoner metal not being a genre was that it was ALL a rip-off from Sabbath, of course he doesn't know much.

I can't put my expectations through the roof. There's that feeling something will go wrong, especially if Ozzy is involved. I still want to see the original Sabbath line-up reuniting but that guy has been so fucked up that I hate to think what he'll do to fuck up this reunion. Hopefully nothing bad happens (apart from Iommi's health issues) but you never know.

Definitely good. I don't know why I waited so long to get into Black Sabbath. I guess I just have something blocking me when it gets to listenning to popular band's music. Plus, I had a very hard time finging any of their stuff to download. Last time I tried to get Paranoid on Mediafire it fucked up... and this time, I guess I got lucky :)

I found out about this band a few days ago from some other place. They sound good from what I sampled but I haven't listened to a full album (yet), I will have to do so soon. Another great thrash metal band I found out about recently (from SomaGuye) is Mutant, they're not signed and only have an EP out currently.

okay
Paranoid tends to be the main only album people who say they are "fans" of Black Sabbath listen to because most of them only know Paranoid and War Pigs
granted i like both of those songs (and can play Paranoid and some of War Pigs) i preferred Electric Funeral and Planet Caravan on that album
and NIB is my favorite song on Black Sabbath
i hope you enjoy them if you can get them :D
i ended up getting Black Sabbath off of Youtube since i couldn't find a good download for it and i bought Paranoid at Walmart for i wanna say $7 it was really cheap and it was the last copy they had so i grabbed it.

My favorite Black Sabbath album is Heaven and Hell. Dio era black sabbath just beats Ozzy era albums imo. Also, here's a pic of a really cool shirt of my favorite album from Dio, The Last in Line.

Iron Claw (1970 self titled album)
Dust (1972 Hard Attack)
Black Spirit (1978 ... Self titled?) This one's much more progressive.
Electric Funeral (1970, the wild performance. Quality is a bit fuzzy, but it's 40 years old)
Valhalla (1969, self titled.) This one's also pretty progressive

i LOVE dust O:
and i think i may have heard Iron Claw

... And I'll end this post on a weird note. Fresh blueberry pancake. The second most weird band I've stumbled across, first being the Pussywarmers (tits in that link, heads up), third being Butthole Surfers. I wouldn't really call any of these three bands "metal" but they're worth mentioning in this post.

Iron Claw is still together today. Most of these other bands dissipated decades ago. Enjoy.

i like Butthole Surfers...
favorite albums are Electriclarryland and Independent Worm Saloon
never heard the other bands...
i might give them a listen

This is a pretty hefty claim. I'll listen to it... but if it disappoints, I'm blaming you for getting my hopes up.

This is one record that made way for a lot of doom and stoner metal bands so it's a reasonable claim.

Yeah, this is a gripe I have with downloading music. It is easy for myself to walk into bad files containing constant skips and such. I accept these issues if it's extremely rare tracks, however. Still, it's these problems that make me reluctant to listening to music that I download. Well, that and just getting music online doesn't feel the same as having it on CD.

To be fair, you all thought I was crazy for have not looked into Agalloch. I did ask it for Christmas but my dad did advise to hold it off with getting any of the albums I asked but didn't get for Christmas. I'm sure at this point I can easily buy them and Agalloch is one of them. The others I ended up not getting are Riot's Thundersteel and Orphaned Land's Mabool.

When it comes to Dio-era Sabbath, I do love a fair amount of songs but I felt the second half of Heaven and Hell was lacking in comparison to the first half.

You know how hard it is to find Sabbath records? I had a chance of luck finding Black Sabbath and Paranoid for my collection, and those two are Sabbath's famous ones. It was not that easy finding those two. No offense.

the last time i went actually searching for any Sabbath albums i found
Sabotage, Vol. 4, Master Of Reality, and Paranoid all together on vinyl but i didnt have the money to get them at the time and when i went back when i had the money they were gone :(
and the Paranoid was a mint condition rare import of it and the other ones were in REALLY good condition too and they were only like $40 for all of them D:
granted they have Paranoid there but they are all in terrible condition and are scratched up
they had a cassette of Black Sabbath but it was like $20 for it
and i (for some odd reason) didnt get it at the time even though my car has a cassette player in it and i got Electriclarryland and DGC Rarities on cassette instead and that was about half the price
but lately i haven't found ANY Black Sabbath stuff
i was at Walmart today for a car charger for my phone and they only had The Dio Years and The Last Supper. granted i seriously considered getting The Last Supper yet again lack of money caused me not to :(
i ended up getting Ten by Pearl Jam cause ive been meaning to get it but i never got around to it and it was only $7 and that was pretty cheap compared to what i usually see them for...

I love TDB. I thank Dalnaki for introducing them to me. Really, we need less stoner bands, and more psychedelic bands, if that makes sense. Like, we need more TDB and Baroness, as compared to Electric Wizard and Sleep ( I love these two bands to death, but heavyness gets boring after a while).

I've risen from the abyss!!!! (banned).

So recently I've been interested in a lot of local bands in my are and would like to share some with you.

Cimmerian is a band made up of.... 15 year olds! Which sound very closely to Opeth. Yup a bunch of 15 year olds that sound like Opeth. Give them a chance yo!

Force Of Habit is a groove metal band from around here as well. Kinda like Devil Driver and Pantera I would say. Pretty awesome. Force of Habit-Conviction

Depremacy is a black/death/trash style band. I know the bassist/Vocalist. Pretty good stuff. Sounds pretty old school. Depremacy-Exorcism

I would appreciate (and sure they would as well) if you gave them a listen.

Also talking about bluesy/Rock music how about some Sacred Mushroom?
Sacred Mushroom-Mean old world
Want the CD from them? Well you better cough up some money cause prices go for between
$60- $250 because they don't make them anymore. Fucking sucks man.

Excellent review. To each of his own for the ending of The Wizard's Vengeance but I certainly agree with the stupid intro and outro sections for R.A.R.Z. It's not perfect but it's still a gem. I'm glad to hear that post resulted in some of us checking the album out. I'm just grateful Slough Feg covered The Wizard's Vengeance on Twilight of the Idols since if otherwise I'd have never heard about this great record.

My favourite of theirs so far. I see you know TimeDilatonMetal. He found me on Last.fm and he has an ass kicking taste in metal. Shame his original YouTube channel was shut down which had over 300 albums uploaded.
