This fuckin' list is another shit made by people who know less bands than we all individualy do. All they do is name the
same shitty bands all the time and not even aknowledge that bands like Blotted Science, Agalloch, Symphony X.
Maybe because Agalloch didn't become popular until the 00's, Symphony X played like four shows in the 90's and
Blotted Science didn't even exist yet...? Apparently you missed the part where I said the list was assembled in the year
2000.
I definitely did. Because as soon as I saw that this list only included the same old over-popular bands I gave up. Got me
there. I draw conclusions to fast. But don't you think that the list would still be pretty much the same if it was made in
2012? My point stands. There is no Death, no Cynic, no Spastic Ink, no Watchtower. No nothing that isn't popular
and/or commercial and/or old.
Any Folk Metal, Black Metal, Death Metal, Power Metal, Black/Death, Doom Metal, Stoner Metal, Stoner Doom
could ever make it on a list like that? Of fucking course not!
And... what are you on about? It's a mixture of lots of hard rock, progressive rock, classic rock, grunge, industrial, metal
and punk(both older punk and the 90's hardcore punk)
And the big four, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Pantera, Faith No More, arguably Danzig, Type O Negative, Living
Colour, King's X, Dream Theater, Lita Ford, arguably Van Halen, Motorhead, Suicidal Tendencies, Queensryche, etc. -
seems like a lot more metal than you're giving the list credit for.
The typical list. You get the big four, Maiden, lame-ass Pantera, a bunch of not so fantastic bands like Van Halen, Danzig
and Motorhead... and Dream Theater.
Yeah, maybe I was too hard on that list. But... I just don't see the point of making these anymore. Seriously, what band is
on that list that you really wasn't expecting to be on the list? It's always the same, no matter who makes these lists
(magazines or web-zines with the help of some overrated artists who give too much credits to old bands).
Like I sais, there are good bands on that list. But dude, why Slayer? Why Rammstein? Wy AC/DC? Why KISS ? What
we have here is the usual top 100 bands list made by people who don't know any genre in depth.
It's also worth mentioning that some of the "honorable mentions" included Skid Row, Sepultura, Fear Factory and
Yngwie.
More big surprises...
So... considering this was a list for all things rock / metal / grunge / punk / industrial, I think this list was MORE than fair
to metal. And the nonmetal stuff was mainly all great too.
That list doesn't go in depth at all, and I bet you anything that you can pick up any random list of "best guitarists of all
time" or "best rock bands of all time" or "best metal bands of all time" and I can tell you it will most likely match this list
for a lot of different artists or bands. I'm still waiting for a list that will consider bands like Electric Wizard, Blotted
Science, Agalloch, High On Fire, Blood Red Throne and pretty much any band or genre that doesn't fit the very limited
understanding of Metal these people have. Oh yes, and I'm still waiting for a "best rock bands" list to include a few post-
rock bands. But hey, that would suggest that they actually aknowledge that this genre exists...
And also, if you don't think Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath are the two most important bands to metal AND rock in
the world, then you are clearly touched in the head.
Wait, I didn't say that. They were heavily influencial. Does that make them the best forever? Of fucking course not. I
already adressed that kind of argument in the past. Some band who influenced another band isn't automaticaly better than
the latest. Otherwise you would have to put all bands who have influenced Led Zeppeling above them on the list. Non-
sense.

Oh, my bad - I just noticed that I 100% neglected to mention the year that list was made in my original post. My bad
Duff, that's all on me.
HOWEVER, if this list was made today, the only metal bands that would land it would be Metallica, Maiden, Priest,
Sabbath, Ozzy, Pantera, MAYBE Faith No More, MAYBE Dream Theater, Van Halen and Motorhead.
Dream Theater will always make it. Wannabes will always put them on their list to show they can listen to prog.
Slayer, Megadeth, Anthrax, Danzig, Type O Negative, Living Colour, King's X, Suicidal Tendencies, Queensryche and
U.F.O. would all be left out if this list.
Maybe not Megadeth. And leaving UFO out would be one of their greatest mistakes... mistake they would most
definitely make...
The only NEW "metal" bands that MIGHT make the list would've been tons of core, maybe Black Label Society and
maybe The Sword. (The last two, purely because both of those bands are loved to death by other musicians and critics -
not popularity in general)
That.
If this list was compiled today by "over 200 critically acclaimed musicians, producers and critics" it most likely would've
been SHITLOADS of newschool stuff to proof how "hip" said people are, as well as the classic rock bands to prove
their legitimacy.
Yeah well, you adressed the same critic as I. Except I went all AVGN on them :P
Although, if the list was made today, i'd hope Skid Row would be more than a honorable mention... because it's fucking
Skid Row.
A band I still don't know shit about :)

I know I should get myself some Beatles album for one thing.
For sure. Always good to look into some of the biggest artists in the world. If you are actually looking into them, I do
recommend Sgt. Peppers and Abbey Road.
I will most likely start with these. I still need to get some of their LSD-influenced work, you know what I mean :)
And some Black Sabbath would also be welcome :)
I should assume you have heard some of their stuff but possibly not listened through their back catalogue. First five
albums are a must.
I do know some of their tracks, but never got an entire album and never listenned to their music enough to pretend to fully
understand their work if not just one of their albums. I know I'm missing on quite a big piece of history. But I can't get any
albums right now...
But hey, if you want recommandations for 2000 stuff, hit me up :)
I should keep that in mind but if there's any years I need to expand, it's mostly the 60s. Still surprised how little I have
from that decade.
Good little exercise we did there :) It helps get a better overview of your own library. When you got a lot of music, it's
nice to be able to look at it from a different point of view.
I have very little from 2011. But again, I'm never keeping up with new releases and I often hear of the good albums
two or three years after they are released.
One thing for sure, I'm more on my toes for new metal releases than I am for everything else including films and games.
Same here. But I don't do much of an effort to keep track of the upcoming releases. I did ask you guys for informations
on where to find out about these new releases, a few weeks ago. Still didn't get much feedback.

I tell you, getting into Black Metal is an interesting experience (in a good way that is). Also, it's fun having a fellow

Definitely, yes :)
Oh, and I got myself a Last.fm account. Add me if you want.
Will do !!!
