Dude, "WAAAAAAAAAAH I HAVE SLIGHTLY DIFFERING OPINIONS THEN YOU ON THE BEST SONG OF AN ALBUM."

Suck a fat one, there's a reason why they're called "opinions" and not "facts"

Perhaps I should've worded this squabble from the start what it actually is: SORRY GOOD SIR, BUT I FEEL AS IF MOST ALBUMS HAVE THE BEST SONG AT THE ABSOLUTE END AND GENERALLY SPEAKING I ENJOY LONGER SONGS AS A WHOLE THEN SHORTER SONGS, BECAUSE THEY GENERALLY ARE MORE THOUGHT-PROVOKING AND HAVE MORE EFFORT INTO THEM. ALSO, YOU'RE AN ASS IF YOU THINK THE BIGGEST HITS ON AN ALBUM ARE THE BEST, WHICH YOU SEEM TO DO.

And I said at the beginning: The last, or second to last track IF the last track is just padding and/or an extro, which includes the second Kyuss album.

I could never get into older Queensrythe. I just wasn't feeling it compared to Promised Land or Hear in The Now Frontier.

What a shame, Mister Jensen.

I never asked for this, Mister Denton.

Anyone notice the growing amount of Thrash coming back to the underground (Bastardator, Gamma Bomb)?
Anyone notice the Crusties and the guys in Black Metal getting together (Gallhammer, New Darkthrone)?

Sure, I may be slow on this, but I haven't been around in forever.

Yeah thrash seems to be coming back. As for the crusties I have no idea about that. You mean punk with black metal right?

I never listened to Promised Land. I'm rather reluctant to hear post-Empire albums, especially when I indulged myself to Dedicated to Chaos. Despite that, the first track is OK and Queensrÿche were actually pretty good when they were supporting Judas Priest in Manchester. That to me was the biggest surprise of all that night. Although, I may have had very low expectations for them.

Growing back into the underground? As in, getting LESS popular? Perhaps.

Thrash metal and oldschool death metal both started becoming popular again in 2006-2008, and there's been tons of newschool bands because of that.

*GAMA bomb and Bastardator are two of them. Some others you may have heard of include Evile, Warbringer, Municipal Waste, Toxic Holocaust, Bonded By Blood, Mantic Ritual, Vektor, Lich King, Razormaze, Thrash Or Die and Lazarus A.D.

Although, personally i've always consider Municipal Waste and Toxic Holocaust punk bands. Not thrash metal bands.

Anyone notice the Crusties and the guys in Black Metal getting together (Gallhammer, New Darkthrone)?

Haven't noticed this, maybe it's because I like next to no black metal and next to no crust punk.

Duff, relax. A lot of users in this club make stupid double, and sometimes triple posts, just so they can correct the spelling of their former post(s).

Leave it be. If anyone's really spamming, then either Bahamut or BBM will take care of them.

I figured you would've had a legitimate argument, rather then "I disagree."

So did you miss my post about first impressions? Most albums put the first song at the beginning to get the listener's attention. Yeah, a longer song can be more thought provoking if it's done correctly. But personally, I'd rather have a song conclude with me wanting more, than overstaying its welcome. There's a reason why those songs become the biggest hits. Take a wild guess why.

I'm saying a band's biggest hit, or one of them, can't be your favorite song. But if your favorite songs by bands tend to always be their hits then perhaps you aren't listening to albums in entirety, and rather the most popular two or three songs on them and making judgments off that.

And hey, wasn't Seasons of the Abyss the biggest hit off that Slayer album?

I thought War Ensemble was the most popular song on that album? Eh, either way. haha

Well, it's really ironic how you specified Ziltoid the Omniscient concluded with a padding track, while not bothering to mention how "Yeah" didn't count.

Because ZTO has an entire MINUTE long track for an extro. "Yeah" is two seconds long, and didn't think anyone would ACTUALLY consider it a track.

I've never really liked Jag Panzer that much. Ample Destruction is amazing, but everything else i've heard by them is kind of boring. Even their stuff with Chris Broderick, which surprised me.

Yeah, I love Queensryche. My dad introduced me to both them and Judas Priest at a very early age, I specifically remember listening to Judas Priest's Love Bites over and over again in his car on my way to sports games.

I did try their new album. I have to admit that I wasn't impressed with it. Maybe I was wanting something a little more traditional and a little less power to it.

Well, as you pointed out later in this, that rise in New School. And I really don't think that Artillery or Annihilator got any speed, it was just kiddies who thrashed Slayer and Metallica, but that's just over here.

Thrash metal and oldschool death metal both started becoming popular again in 2006-2008, and there's been tons of newschool bands because of that.

Municipal Waste has been around since the late 90's.
Excuse the Typo.
Well, that's some new material to dig into.

Although, personally i've always consider Municipal Waste and Toxic Holocaust punk bands. Not thrash metal bands.

Municipal Waste is as much as a Thrash Band as DRI is. You forgot to include Warbeast up there, but they're a Texas Thrash supergroup.

Anyone notice the Crusties and the guys in Black Metal getting together (Gallhammer, New Darkthrone)?
Haven't noticed this, maybe it's because I like next to no black metal and next to no crust punk.

Crust is just a result of Crass and Venom bashing heads. Think of an English Septic Death, but with cleaner vocals. Besides, if there was no Crust, there'd be no Carcass or Napalm Death. A world without grindcore!
Here, have some Antisect.
You actually might like this stuff.

Yup! Thrash Metal has this special link with Crust Punk and we all know that Black Metal evolved from Thrash Metal. I guess this is just like, a way to go back to their roots and explore a genre mixing both Crust and Black Metal. I mentionned a band earlier, a band named Infernal Stronghold. Solid band with Crust Punk and Black Metal elements. Very enjoyable :)

I also wanted to ask you guys what you think of this album? Yesterday I've been to a party and met two great guys, we shared some music and it was the first time I've ever heard the Dark Ambient music by Burzum. I only heard one track, but I really enjoyed it. What do you guys think about it?

I do know they've been working with Flemming Rasmussen on their debut album. Should be interesting.
